Ronnie Shellist Hello, just a quick-🤷🏻♂️-thanks & why. I have been a fan of the blues for many years and thoroughly enjoyed listening to you bend, ‘wah' & make those harps cry, my goodness! I picked up the guitar as a kid and was alright by the time I had a spinal cord injury~10 years. I lost use of my (legs, body), & fingers so, not much guitar playing anymore. Then a friend gave me a Blues Harp. I love to play-that’s being generous-but am oftentimes frustrated by my lack of lung strength. Whatever though, I’m moving my arms and breathing on my own-which makes me very lucky and grateful. I noticed that you’ve replied to ~all questions/comments with helpful advice and humble grace. It’s you, and people like you who make this world better. I’m your newest subscriber and just wanted to say "thanks". All the best of happiness & health to you.
i cover this one in my harmonica rhythms download at H123 along with several other rhythms. essentially start 1d 2b 3b 3d' 2d and then use 123d and 123b for the chug.
I was thinking about Thunderbird or Rocket, the Rocket seems to sounds a bit louder/clearer (saw it on a comparsion video with Thunderbird and Rocket Low in the Key of F). I would like to get a Low A but somehow, the Rocket did not come in the Key of LA. I was thinking about that the Rocket would be a bit better for now as it also is a bit cheaper and sounds awesome. So my question is, what would you recommend more, a Thunderbird or a Rocket Low? I think if i go for the Rocket i will take it in the Key of LD. (wish i could get the chance to get a signed Rocket Low from you but i think that i won't get the chance to)
I gotta say...I love my Rocket Lows but you can't go wrong either way. As I mention in the video, seems like the action from bottom to top is killer on the Rocket Low.
@@Harmonica123 I've never played or heard a Rocket Low or a Thunderbird in real, videos or sound samples are good to give a little direction but i think it's a big different if you hear a harmonica on tv/internet or live and it's also a different if you just hear it or play it by yourself :) The Low D sounds awesome, very bluesy, maybe i'll buy a Thunderbird in Low A later and the Rocket in Low D first :) Thanks for your information! :)
I am thinking about getting a rocket low and was thinking about getting a low c. What I am trying to find out is if the rocket low in key of c is close to a normal g harmonica or not?
How long would the reeds in the blue stay in tune compared to grey I wonder? (Obviously not tuning of the colour of the plastic). 6 keys that I'm aware of.
Hey Ronnie, man you make that low tone sound super enchanting! I'm eager to buy my first low tuned harmonica and wondering which key you'd recommend? I'd like to go as low as possible while still being playable, bendable and versatile for many types of music. I've got a standard C and want to have a low tone to round out my two harmonica arsenal :)
The Hohner Rocket is great for beginners, but getting one in the key of C is advisable at first. G could work as well if you are looking for a lower sound, but probably get one of those before moving to low tunings. Most beginner videos and tabs are written for the key of C.
Does anyone know what happened to the Special 20? I had a bunch of them for a few years and just received a new one this Christmas and it is leaky, quieter and it won't make good chords. I see the word Marineband is no longer on the top cover and it now says "Progressive". Had someone handed this to me without my reading the top I would have thought it was a $10 Chinese instrument. Are they making the special 20's bad to make everyone buy the Rocket? The price of the special 20 has doubled in just a couple years, this is unfair to unsuspecting customers expecting the same quality. At the moment I am really disappointed with Hohner.
Thunderbirds have bamboo combs, Rocket are plastic. Thunderbirds also have a thicker reed plate towards the 1 hole to accommodate reed swing and cover plate rattle. Both are awesome and I use both models. My mug is on the Rocket Low box so I suppose I'm kinda fond of it. ;)
sorry but i'm not selling harmonicas any more.
Bummer,I really wanted a signed Hohner Rocket in low C. I just picked up playing again after 30 years. Love your videos !
Love low key harmonica
You know you're good when your mug shot is on the box. Congratulations 🎵🎶❤️

THAT DL IS AMAZING!! MAN, YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST
Ronnie, mate, where can I learn to play your little ditty at 2:14? I've heard you play it a few times before. I can't figure it out on my own.

Between the Thunderbird Marine Band and the Rocket Low what would you recommend?
I'm a Rocket low guy
sounds amazing

Nice review. I usually play seydel.. gonna jam on these
I’ve never played or even seen a Seydel in real life, but the stainless steel reeds have me interested, How’s the transition from Hohner to them
@@sepultura7771 it was no problem at all
witch Low Harmonica should you start with? does it matter ? preference Sonny Terry or Sonny Boy and Rice? there style
low F is my recommendation. i do like the Rocket Low as it plays nice and is less expensive than the Thunderbird.

woould you reccomend thus harmonica for beginners? where would be best to purchase? TIA john

Is there like a basic rocket harp? Or is it just low or high?
The Rocket is the original (comes in all standard keys) and then there's the Rocket low which comes in 7 low keys.

azmildman thanks for sharing this link. Very kind of you, indeed!
you are one of my fav's
Very nice.
Are you lip pursing or tongue blocking? Great video...thinking about getting one..many thanks...beautiful playing.
both
whats the difference between the Low Rockets and Thunder birds?

Ronnie Shellist brilliant! Eloquently put, &/or answered!
Do you like it better than the Thunderbird?
like them both. they do sound different and feel a bit different to play. both are great.
nice vid, thx!
Title says Horner instead of Hohner, thought I'd say.
hohner thunderbird or this?
both nice, Rocket is a bit less expensive.
discount bro
I wish there would be a Low A Harp, don't want to buy a Thunderbird.
Are you joking,if you’re not ,A is naturally low on harmonica,so is G
At this point you just showing off
