If I remember correctly, the reason we see Gabriel appear behind Marinette in the leaked opening, is because she's still hiding from adrien the truth about his father so that scene signifies that gabriel & the secret will be haunting her this season
i think the reason for the opening to have gabrial is to show that mari is hiding that gabrial is the villain from adrian like you can see that mari is there and adrian too and it's showing that gabrial transforming in to the villain...at least that's my guess
When they transform, the heroes change their hairstyles, and some have longer hair (Lady Noire, Lady Dragon, Aqua Bug, Lady Bee, Pennybug), so no, it's not nonsensical. And thank goodness, because Rena Rouge with short hair, it would have been ugly.

One thing I noticed when rewatching the London special: the whole movie was in the old animation, but the last scene where Marionet lays on her balkony it seems like it might be the new animation or not?
To me that the designs for the akumatized villains and heroes superhero outfits look much better than before. Yet as for the civilian outfits and design they don't look so great to me 😅
The old software Maya, was obsolete & wouldn't work with the new assets, so they had to switch to Unreal Engine to be able to continue with the show & if what I remember the old models wouldn't be able to work in unreal engine so they had to redesign them

It’s the mouth on Adrian’s design in unbalanced his face and honestly takes away from his character, especially in his chat noir form. A character should tell you a bit out their personality just by looking at them, and chat noir is very loud mouthed and expressive. The tiny mouth makes him look reserved and polite
