They still do these tests in Czech Republic. Each first wednesday in a month at noon, all the sirens blast around the country. It's beyond idiotic and useless, but you should see the tourists in Prague when this happens
The guy who wrote the Grange Hill theme is Alan Hawkshaw, legend who also did the Countdown theme and other great stuff on organs and keyboards. Still writing music I think, although last I heard he was in hospital after a stroke. Great musician.

Grange Hill scared the crap out of me as a little kid, always thought that's what secondary school was like. Quickly found out it's massively exaggerated. :)
I knew those air raid sirens well! I grew up in the 70s in the forces as my dad was in the RAF, so we lived around the bases. We used to hear those sirens quite often, as there was a lot of stuff going on with Northern Ireland back then, so if there was a major IRA attack the sirens would go off in the middle of the night and my dad would get dressed and grab his steel helmet and rush off to work. Couple of hours later they'd sound the all clear.
Yeah I remember watching that episode, I was worried that something like was going to happen. Also the Canadian high school series Degrassi Junior High covered that issue as well.
only bit of grange hill ive ever seen before was when zammo died. it was on this 50 greatest kids shows thing in like 2012. tell you what it scared the living shite outta me
I am pissing myself at the dramatic zoom ins on that guy's face 😂😂

I remember it as well, a couple of times
Shit I remember that too, I think about midday on a Saturday when I was out on my bike or something... Maybe playing pom-1-2-3

It was originally a theme tune for a different program. They reused it for Grange hill.

He should look-up clips from the film "Threads". That frightened the life out of me when I was little.
That and ‘The Day After’. Those were brutal and scared the similar bejesus out of me too.
The Grange hill tune was used for the first series of give us a clue.
Watched half of that and couldn’t hack the rest, highly effective in making you fucking terrified of nuclear war
I had a major depression :(
@@vooveksThe Day After is like children’s telly compared to Threads, yank shite

Like most things on TV ... Especially the News.
1970s british public safety films, the most terrifying genre of all time.
I'm pretty sure Aphex Twin used or recreated that sample from Zamo's death scene in a song. Cant remember the name of the track now.
I see ''Roly'' All the time. He a local lad. He always good to talk to. And no he is not as big as he was then.

He also did the voice for the 'Barratt homes' ad
That hill is in Scotland, somewhere near Ayr. We drove out to it when we went to Butlin's when I was a kid in the 80's. True story.

That fact that Limmy looks rougher than Zammo though.
zammo is a teenager. limmy is an adult. there is a difference in appearance... its called age

It’s true what you said about the music….used to creep me out too. As for the sirens….that’s too intense
