At a live show when the clap happened my buddy got bonked in the nose and security/medical made us leave cause he was bleeding so bad. "Either you're taking him or we're calling him a whambulance"
And here we have the elusive baenasuarus cleverly mating with a 6 string guitarasaurus rex. Quietly we shall gander upon this event as it has been said to only happen once every 8 years or so.
System of a Down is always the first band I go to when I think of Drop C#, Daron Malakian is one of my favourite guitarists and he definitely helped me get more into writing in Drop C/C#. Plus BYOB was the first SOAD songs I ever heard and one of the first my band and I played live (as well as one of my all-time favourite songs by them), that riff will always just rip your fucking head off and I love it
I smiled when you played that Norma Jean song, not because I've listened to it, but because of Austin Dickey's many attempts to remember the full title. (From a DickeyDines Show video).
Norma Jean’s Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste changed my life when I first heard it over 20 years when I was in high school. That album defined the metalcore generation of the time.
You have no clue how many kids picked up a guitar or bass after hearing Down with the sickness. Will Ramos is primed and ready for you@@infinidominion
@lordmordecai2211 the song is like the Free Bird of metalcore - instead of infinite guitar solos, it's infinite breakdowns! Seriously, that song never gets old, and the entire album is brilliant, easily one of the best og metalcore albums
Andrew playing the bass ? What a surprise ! Edit : I just noticed it's not a bass but actually a guitar, I was misled by the low number of strings, I thought it counted as a guitar only starting from 8 strings and up (7 strings are piccolo guitars, that's another thing) Jokes aside, nice riffing as always !

awesome playing dear Andrew, it is also cool that you play the Harley Benton LP style Guitar, i got one too, and you inspiere a ton to play it even more now
A great riff in drop C# is the opening in Clean Today by Katatonia, which is also pretty underrated. I also really like the bridge section in Headup by Deftones, the "walk into this world" one. Very simple but effective
Nice list. I'd also add "Sing For Liberty" by All That Remains, "- human" by Metallica, "Unchained" by Van Halen, "The Sinner" by Memphis May Fire, "Anodyne Sea" by As I Lay Dying, "Scream" by Avenged Sevenfold
Guilt Trip play in Drop C#, they've got lots of super fun riffs on their album from last year. Surrounded By Pain, Tearing Your Life Away, and Sweet Dreams
not sure if this is one you’ve heard of, but bulls in the bronx by pierce the veil’s main riff is pretty heavy, especially with the alteration of the riff where they use pinch harmonics
My personal favorite drop c# riff is the main riff from Anthrax - Keep It In The Family. That song is full of great riffs. Also, Alice In Chains - Them Bones.
For standard, you could do some winds of plague riffs. Idk which ones but i think the first few albums/eps were standard. Which is crazy bc it doesnt sound like it
I hate how a lot of people don’t even recognize iconic Attack, Attack! Songs anymore even from the Caleb Shomo era. The other songs are definitely heavy but I say without a doubt Attack, Attack! is my favorite.
For me, the main riff to Images by Mutiny Within demonstrates that C is actually quite deep. Honestly, you don't need deeper tubings than C. Maybe sometimes A, but anything below that is superfluous, and any riffs written would sound better transcribed up.
yo the clap for enter shikari is diabolical
So is that ass
This comment deserves so much more love 😂
Aggressive not diabolical i disagree..
At a live show when the clap happened my buddy got bonked in the nose and security/medical made us leave cause he was bleeding so bad. "Either you're taking him or we're calling him a whambulance"
@@anti54321 shoulda doubled the injury and gave it to the security too
rare spotting of the baenasaurus mating with a 6 string species...
May you get all the likes.

All the likes to this guy🙏🏼
And the female being an LP
the clap for shikari is actually insane
It tickled me a bit 🥵🥵🥵
Some OG Alice in Chains like sludge factory and damn that river go hard in C#
Don't forget Them Bones
@alexanderd.f.157 that's a given
And we die young
@sgtbrunope oh yeah that's a personal fave
@@sgtbrunopegreat song, I love Stone Sour’s cover of it
3:06 AYO 😭😭😭 I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT
That Stick Stickly riff tickled my brain
I swear it wad in Drop D
@@1tofallen123 i swore it was in drop B or A#
@@1tofallen123 Drop C#
That hits me right in the feels. So good. Seriously, like, just the best tuning for everything.
Based pick on In Waves by Trivium. I was really happy to see it in the video when I got the notification, keep up the good work man!
System of a Down is always the first band I go to when I think of Drop C#, Daron Malakian is one of my favourite guitarists and he definitely helped me get more into writing in Drop C/C#. In drop c#, I used to play old Oceans ate Alaska, Sleeping with Sirens (first album) and Revocation (grip tightens)
A lot of these songs with more modern production really shows how important the mix is. These slap like new again!
Fuck modern production 😂
I smiled when you played that Norma Jean song, not because I've listened to it, but because of Austin Dickey's many attempts to remember the full title. (From a DickeyDines Show video).
That tone is 🔥
Norma Jean’s Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste changed my life when I first heard it over 20 years when I was in high school. That album defined the metalcore generation of the time.
Drop C# is one of my favourite tunings. Surprised no creed or tremonti
I'm surprised Disturbed even made it. Nobody's inspired by radio crap
@@infinidominion Disturbed is one of the biggest and most influential bands of the noughts, but pop off ig
Alter Bridge too

The first OM&M album got some good drop C# riffs

I fucking LOVE that Stone is getting the recognition it deserves. That whole album so fucking hard
NORMA JEAN MENTIONED 🔥
one of the most criminally under-rated songs ever
@lordmordecai2211 the song is like the Free Bird of metalcore - instead of infinite guitar solos, it's infinite breakdowns! Seriously, that song never gets old, and the entire album is brilliant, easily one of the best og metalcore albums
I remember setting up the guitarist guitar for him before going on stage to play that song
panic chord heaven
🔥🔥🔥
Chimaria had some really killer riffs. A lot of stuff off of the resurrection album in particular. I also love the breakdown in. Pure hatred
Focal monitors are awesome, I have couple solo 6’s with the 10” sub and it crushes. Love em :)
reminds me i need to learn ghost walking on guitar, what a riff
Love that distant Hoodie
Seen AIC's album art and clicked immediately, just icing on top it's your video
The ass clap killed me 😂😂
I was just waiting for the MOS riff to kick in. Such a good riff.
Opeth and Dillinger Escape Plan would be good candidates for standard riffs.
And pantera
And sylosis
Almost every thrash band to be honest
Andrew playing the bass ? What a surprise !
Edit : I just noticed it's not a bass but actually a guitar, I was misled by the low number of strings, I thought it counted as a guitar only starting from 8 strings and up (7 strings are piccolo guitars, that's another thing)

Joke would be funnier if he wasn’t actually playing a bass as well lol
It's a bass bud.... Dingwall D-Roc
The Jesse Switch shoutout! Everyone's second-favorite Canadian (next to BAENA of course)
Amazing. I was waiting for some resolution LoG. Nicely done
LoG mentioned, petition to get Baena and the Carcosa Bois on Headbangers Boat 😤
Drop C# is the borderline where music begins to change from commercially viable to heavy asf.
Nice clips bro 😎

What about C# standard on a 9 string guitar heaviest riffs?
@@THEDJAG-gt1tz get ready for a total of 3 riffs lol
Had to like and sub after that stick stickly 💪
I like how Stick Stickly went from trendy, to hated on, to now respected…? So odd haha
A great riff in drop C# is the opening in Clean Today by Katatonia, which is also pretty underrated.

Andrew Baena rocking the slash guitar, would never have thought I would see that. Also, that clap on Enter Shikari is truly evil.
God I'm glad you played Stone by AIC... That is such a sick riff.. Cantrell and Duvall are riff KINGS!!
Imagine playing down with the sickness with your ring finger.
Bolt Thrower - Those Once Loyal album has a collection of smashing heavy C# riffs
Yeah, but those are C# standard riffs, not Drop C#
That's an actual good metal band, not core or radio rock shit. So he won't playbit
Nice list. I'd also add "Sing For Liberty" by All That Remains, "- human" by Metallica, "Unchained" by Van Halen, "The Sinner" by Memphis May Fire, "Anodyne Sea" by As I Lay Dying, "Scream" by Avenged Sevenfold
Scream mentioned 🗣️
Good call on Norma Jean 🤘
Glad to see Memphis Will Be Laid to Waste was in there. That riff goes so unbelievably hard.
Goated list of riffs

Cool thing that the bass has more presence now.
so nice it's with bass!
Can't believe I'm saying this but stick sticky is a classic ! Great song and album
Dude, that enter Shakiri song goes hard af
3:06 🤣
Another fine bit of tunage in ~standard~ C# would be Alpha Omega by Architects but maybe not the heaviest of heavies
I remember when this was the absolute peak tuning. It still is but I remember it before too. 😮 3:05 is wild
That AIC riff is nasty!
This video really showcases how great nu metal riffs were
Love the Trivium love. I'd argue that bridge riff from Chaos Reigns is heavier than the In Waves main riff. But, that's just my lowly opinion.
1 chug = 1 crab
My personal favorite drop c# riff is the main riff from Anthrax - Keep It In The Family. That song is full of great riffs. Also, Alice In Chains - Them Bones.
bruuuuuh
we got clapped on fr 🙏
what classics tho
A nice shout out for the 🦀 in there!
BYOB is a masterclass of heavy and imaginative guitar playing
omfg, stick sticky, I haven't heard that song in AGES!
best guitar tone you have got so far
The Chad tuning
love seeing a norma jean riff on this list
Hi Andrew, I am just writing to say that It would be sick to see an Abasi concepts 8 string on the channel.
Stone is a solid pick!!
It's not exactly heavy but the riff from Misery Business lives rent-free in my head
Ghost walking is just 🫦
Drop C# is nasty 🔥🔥
I'll be waiting to see what riffs you play in drop D or E standard 🗿☝🏿
Focal is GOAT. I use the Shape 65's and they are insane.
O' God the Aftermath by Norma Jean in it's entirety is some filthy drop C#. 👍
Drop A# has entered the chat
Drop C# is the TUNING from 2000's nu metal
Alice in Chains keeps being extremely underrated!
War of Ages plays C#, in my opinion one of the most underrated metalcore bands
Heaviest open tunings, can get some Monuments and Heavy Devy in there
suggestion I have for drop d is Jambi by tool and E standard the bridge riff from blackened
Dude, that Deftones album has so many good ones, my favorite is Headup personally. Dropped a like for Norma Jean tho :)
For standard, you could do some winds of plague riffs. Idk which ones but i think the first few albums/eps were standard. Which is crazy bc it doesnt sound like it
No more tears is my favorite dropc# riff. Or prime mortal form by only living witness
Well done! Is that Harley Benton all stock?
My favorite drop C# riff is definitely the opening to Kõdu - Sügispime. Really obscure, but REALLY fucking good black metal from Estonia
I hate how a lot of people don’t even recognize iconic Attack, Attack! Songs anymore even from the Caleb Shomo era. The other songs are definitely heavy but I say without a doubt Attack, Attack! is my favorite.
Buried Alive by Alter Bridge is my favorite thing to play in this tuning.
I remember back in my day we called it drop Db
Hey, we got those monitors at some of my classrooms
The Bled - Shadetree mechanics
Belmont plays in this tuning, and they’re great
I think the groove riff in Lying From You is heavier than One Step Closer.
Was that a Harley Benton and a Dingwall bass? Or is Harley Benton making a Dingwall style bass now?
For me, the main riff to Images by Mutiny Within demonstrates that C is actually quite deep.
Honestly, you don't need deeper tubings than C.
Maybe sometimes A, but anything below that is superfluous, and any riffs written would sound better transcribed up.
Those doom slayer helmets are sick
Anything done by Death Angel like son of the morning, let the pieces fall.
Sweet Dreams by Guilt Trip will always be my fav
