Rera is an Ainu word which means "wind". Ainu is one of the indigenous peoples in Hokkaido, northern island of Japan. Their culture, which is based on animism, is very different from Japanese culture. Unfortunately since Meiji Era most Ainu people merged into mainland Japanese and their heritage was almost lost.
Recently both Ainu and non-Ainu Japanese are trying to restore Ainu unique culture, tradition and language.
In this lyrics 獣道 literally means "animal trail" but can also be interpreted as "way which gods go", for Ainu people often regard wild lives as incarnated gods who give their flesh as a gift to human beings for sustenance.
I translated this word as "unpaved path."

    1. This is the _second_ time I've felt compelled to use the word "majestic" in conjunction with Iroha Nekomura.
    2. This is way more than the second time I liked a cover of a Miku song a lot more than the original. There are plenty of Vocaloids, people. Miku doesn't have to carry the whole load.
    3. This is the first time I've seen the word "Ainu" anywhere since Samurai Shodown.
Pretty amazing song, is what I'm saying.

I love Iroha's voice. She sings well. And this song is beautiful, poetic, and emotional (in a good way). I am in love with this song.

I might be weird for saying this but- for me to like a song i need some sort of emotional connection. Sometimes i develop a connection and sometimes i get it instantly when i listen to the song. This is one of those songs, that for me, strike straight into me in all it's musical glory. This song sums up why i love music.

That's kinda surprising to see you translate a Nekomura song.
I think this VOCALOID has a lot of potential, and I hope people will use her a little more after listening to this kind of song. With the translation it makes her voice even more powerful.
    Thank you Damesuke

I LOVED this song, and feel Iroha is way underrated. Glad to see that you've translated it! (I'm still being extremely lazy... )

Oh yes, the Ainu. Very interesting people and very interesting language. I covered the language somewhat in a paper I did a couple of months ago. This is actually the first time I've heard a Vocaloid sing in Ainu. I've gotten curious, so now I shall begin to look and see if there are more songs out there with in Ainu or with parts in Ainu.

Thanks a lot for this translation and the very insightful cultural comments about the Ainu.
Iroha has always been my favorite voicebank but is not enough used. I only had Miku's version that Daisuke had put on 夢見人, but my wish has been answered last week with the new KarenT release: Rera - Remaster; it contain both Miku & Iroha's version of Rera and Hearth Song.

Iroha's voice is imo better than Miku, but again, the tuning on Miku's version is vastly superior and fluid than this one.
