I remember when I first saw this build, I sent Ian an email asking if I could buy it off him when he was done with it. I never got a response and I think I know why! Great truck man, I love how it turned outl!
Man i fell in love with that truck when you first started on it the fenders and bed side's did it for me and i've had a trekker and two first gen 4Runners
Man that’s so cool. My 05 Tundra was recently written off late this year. So replaced it with a 2011 Tacoma 4.0L. But man do I ever miss that 2UZ. Maybe in the future I should V8 swap it 😂🤘🏻
"It won't work" "Just buy a truck with the engine you want." This seems to be the defeatist attitude with a lot of brand owners. Some of us want a challenge, we don't do it because it is easy but because we can.
Now that I think about it it’s kind of similar to the ford ranger and explorer as far as the v8. Ranger never came with one but they had a v8 explorer. In fact the only small truck with a v8 that I can think of was the dodge dakota
How about fuel capacity cant remember if you did anything with that. That is one of my biggest issues with my tacoma is that it doesn't hold enough. And how about the mpg now with the v8
I kept the stock tank...I am getting about 19-20 MPG on daily driving I took it on a trip recently with group of JL's and we spent 3 days wheeling and driving and I hot the same "trail" mileage as the JL .maybe just a little better
Yota guys are a strange breed. I say this as someone with 2 tacos parked in my driveway right now.. A lot of them are very skeptical of any custom mod that isn't from a big name with a hefty price tag. The number of times I've heard "can't be done" or "going against factory will only yield negative results" is quite frankly amusing.
@BigTireGarage Your next project by which you get donations to build and then prize off in some fantastic way but let me drive first: 3rd Gen, LBDC Tacoma, on portals w/37's, but fire breathing, under a custom hood, a 2nd Gen Super Charged Tundra motor. You know you want to....

This thing is epic.
Thanks
Damn, I thought my 2UZ RCSB tundra was rare. This build is 100X cooler😂 some killer work went into this!
I've never seen another build quite like it.

Love all first gen 4 runner
Always loved this build! Need V8 options in things that aren’t an arm and a leg.

You're in the right place for inspiration!
This was a great build and a great truck 👍👍
Glad you like it
This build reminds me of Toyota Hilux AT37
That was what I was going for

Exactly!!!
Does the truck have some form of a front axle disconnect? Curious how that fj t case works since my fj has a disconnect
Yes...front axle has disconnect, that I hotwired with a switch
Guy i no Steven Spencer has one in TX, dude hell of a mechanic
Is that the double cab?

Good point...and I think the Dakota of that era was considered a "midsize" truck
@ yeah I would consider it mid size.
I remember this built. Welcome to the dark side😅 SCC next year in October?
I have a better rig for that one
It's been a great build series Ian👍
Are you going to do more interior mods to the bed area?
Also, are you commentating again at koh next year?
Eventually and I believe I am...haven't gotten hammers.100 percent locked in yet
@BigTireGarage
Cool mate, look forward to seeing it.
Cheers👍
Is the GoManche coming back?
Yes..
@BigTireGarage oh yeah! I love that thing!

Ive got a 2014 regular cab with the 5spd. Wanna do another v8 swap?😊
The best IFS is like the mildest venereal disease
Ha ha
Wouldn't a 4RUNNER V8 be the best option for a Tacoma?
I believe it's the same 2UZ V8 that is in there.
Couldn't find a 4 runner donor..but found a great Tundra
Same engine (4th gen 4Runner, Tundra, 100 series Landcruiser, Lexus GX470 & LX470)
@@joehop5780don’t forget the Sequoia.😎

That's exactly why I built this!
