    Your dedication to the crows is wonderful Jonathan. Sorry to read of the problems with the people in the area. Your time with the crows and Ernie and Bert has been and continues to be precious wherever it occurs. Enjoy the time ahead and the changes that hopefully might work out well enough. Thank you for this beautiful film. Until next time... Best regards, Cathy

      ¡Muchas gracias!

    So heartwarming Jonathan, thank you so very much for sharing your bond with these two Amazing Birds, and of course the rest of the crew too! Your epilogue touches such depth and is truly heartfelt 🖤
    I too have not seen my buddies in a while. I have not been able to feed them for a couple of weeks, but I don’t think that’s the only reason. Some hawks have been hanging around too and the Jays have not been hanging around like they usually do.
    This morning though a bunch of crows flew by the window, with a couple that I recognized flying extra close and giving their usual greeting caw 🥰
    You are right, time is no matter when it comes to a bond, they as well as us, will always remember ♾️

    • @corvusaeternus
      @corvusaeternus  Місяць тому +1

      They definately remember - even after years! Hawks are a big problem for them. I'm not sure if were are talking about the same hawks but here is a hawk problem as well (accipiter gentilis). And eagle owl too. The crows have been very alarmed and they avoid the areas they used to hang out before. I also found several dead crows. Some probably killed by birds of prey but others look like they have been eaten by a fox, marten or other predator. 😞

    • @brilliantbirdbuddies
      @brilliantbirdbuddies Місяць тому

      @ ahh, I see, I had to look up accipiter gentilis! Yes, we definitely have those here too and call them goshawks, though I have never seen one. There are many species of hawk here. I think the culprit is either a Red-Tail or a Northern Harrier Hawk, and both seem relentlessly skilled in pestering. I know that its nature, but sometimes I do wish they would just banish themselves from this area 🙃🙂 Thankfully I’ve never come across a dead crow here, but I have witnessed the hawks take off with squirrels, chipmunks, and once I saw a barred owl capture a mouse🫤

      @@brilliantbirdbuddies Yes, nature can be cruel... The worst that I have seen was Gandalf killing a toad... He saw the toad, grabbed it with the beak, turned it upside down and pecked on the body until he pecked out the liver. Then he digged a hole in the earth and buried the toad alive. I saw the earth moving and the toad trying to get out. I felt so bad for the toad that I digged it and decided to put it out of it's misery. It was covered with blood and clearly in pain but nothing I could do about it than grabbing a big stone and kill it to make it stop suffering. Then I put it back into the hole and buried it. Gandalfs mate was very angry shouting at me realizing that I could be danger for them too. Gandalf didn't seem to mind. All he did was to look if everything that he buried was still there... that was not a nice moment - but it's nature.

    • @brilliantbirdbuddies
      @brilliantbirdbuddies Місяць тому

      @ oh, that’s a rough one. I haven’t seen it in action but I’m aware that they use this tactic often with frogs & toads. I would have done the same thing, despite an angry mate yelling at me 😕 I think that in here lies a great mystery in the varying levels on consciousness between man and animal in regards to life and unnecessary suffering.
      I think that though man is capable of such cruelty, it seems as though the design of our erect spine as opposed to all other forms of life on earth, gives us an opportunity raise our awareness to a greater degree than that of the degree of a non perpendicular spine; that is of course if one chooses to cultivate the gifts of the human body.
      Forgive me, I have been in deep thought lately 🧐☺️!
      Wishing you an Epic Day Jonathan 😀

    this is a very touching, atmospheric quality video, as we are already used to from you! It would be a shame if you didn't make more videos like this! I totally empathise with your situation, I was in a similar situation last year! It's been very traumatic and since then I've been meeting my crows in different ways and places... I hope this unpleasant situation will be solved and that you will find another way, place and time to spend pleasant moments with your crows again: it's important for you and good for your crows!😉

    • @corvusaeternus
      @corvusaeternus  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you very much! I will have a look after them in the Christmas holidays early in the morning. The kindergarden nearby is closed then and I think many people will be on holidays. But I won't feed them and hope they will follow me. Luckily the forest where I feed the other crows is not far away and they follow me sometimes. But there are also people hating what I do - but also people loving what I do. So it's both... I have some secret places there but not all crows come with me and they are also not so good for filming. But it's nice to have a secret place - but it's only secret as long as the crows are silent... and you know they love it loud...
      In the past they followed me through the forest and in higher areas of the forest we could be without anyone disturbing us but now they rarely go there because there is some raptor concerning them.

    Beautiful footage and music! Love them I hope things go back to normal after a while and that you will be able to visit them more often but I'm sure they will remember you even when some time passes because you're their friend and they'll always know you. Also I'm sure your crows gets snacks from random people too! I carry at least 10-15 peanuts in my pocket. I'm sure people share their food too, at least people who like animals. When I go to the store I see that near some house (on the outside of their fence) they leave sometimes some sausages, macaroni, bread (I know it's not the best food for birds but I guess it's old bread that is a bit more hard & they leave it there for the birds) and so on... I think it's small leftovers from their lunch/dinner but I have seen crows and sparrow there so I believe your crow friends will get random snacks from people! Lots of bird haters out there but lots of bird lovers too! Apartment building near me they leave some food for sparrows it's near the apartment on the grass. That apartment building is more normal than ours... because we have nasty older people here but eh I still throw at least 10 peanuts every morning on the grass near my window 😬
    2:52 idk why but I love this walk so much 😂
    Lots of best wishes for all your crows I hope they stay healthy during winter ❤🐦❤

      They definately remember. There are crows at another place that hadn't seen 2 years (and I never had very much contact with them but they know me from the forest and seem to live there now). And they always come when they see me now. They don't forget your face! Actually I hope they don't get snacks from random people. I'm afraid someone could poison them and they could be too trusting eating everything.

    The clips of all them following and hopping along with you are beautiful. Always makes me grin when my own do the same. It's really a shame not everyone can appreciate them, and are even afraid of them. You're right that no one can take away your fond memories of these birds and theirs of you. But my heart breaks for you, knowing how hard it must be having to leave them alone after building such a bond with them. I do hope that someday, somehow, you can spend time with them again.

    • @corvusaeternus
      @corvusaeternus  13 днів тому +1

      I'm glad you enjoyed the clips! It's always so nice when the crows come with me but of course it catches people's attention... Ernie & Bert's territory is very close to the forest. I know they are there among the others now and then but it's hard for me to recognize them as there are many other young crows at the moment. From the forest I have a view over the city and I can see the houses that they always sit on. And they sometimes spot me and come flying to the forest so I know they are coming. But when they are in the group it's very hard for me to recognize them but sometimes I do. Sometimes I meet the crows at the place in the forest where Ernie & Bert grew up and there it's easier for me to recognize them because less crows.

      The police was actually very nice and interested in the crows in a positive way. But they are not the ones to decide. Now I'm not sure if I will hear anything at all if I won't be fined. I would love to have a letter saying that I didn't do anything forbidden.
      I don't want new friends... I want Ernie & Bert... and there are many other crows that I'm friends with. I will have a look after them in the holidays I think when the kindergarden nearby is closed and many people are on holidays. But I won't feed or film there.

    It's great to see leaves and some greenery. Cold and snow here like in the Nov. videos. I guess people don't like them on their cars and stuff. They do have a purpose to clean up road kill and stuff like that. Friends of mine in New Brunswick put out bones and waste and they clean it all up.

      Yes, they do a very good job on cleaning the streets! I think many people don't understand how important they actually are! And for sure they don't like them on their cars but they like to jump on them so that I can see them better 🙂But normally they stay to their trees or roofs.

    Was für ein schönes Video wieder ❤! Vor allem die Aufnahmen im Schnee sind wunderschön. Wenn ich die Aufnahmen aus dem Wohngebiet so anschaue, dann hätte ich einen großen Batzen darauf gewettet, das da ein paar Leute voller Empörung und mit Inbrunst dagegen Sturm laufen. Ich erinnere mich, daß Du sowas ja auch von Beginn an schon vermutet hattest. Das ist wirklich keine Umgebung für uns - für uns Krähenfreunde nicht und für die Krähen auch nicht. Es bleibt zu hoffen, daß Ernie und Bert auf der Suche nach einem eigenen Revier von dort weit weg ziehen. Am besten Richtung Wald... Sei nicht so traurig. Das Leben besteht aus ständiger Veränderung. Du wirst sie bald wieder haben. Sie werden Dich finden! Spätestens im kommenden Frühjahr wollen sie ja auch ihre eigene Familie gründen. LG 😍 ❤️

      Ja, die Häuser sehen teilweise ganz schön nobel aus... da sind auch so einige Akademiker, wobei in den noblen Villen sich durchaus auch Studenten-WGs finden. Insgesamt eigentlich ein links-grüner Stadtteil. Ich glaube, die meisten Jüngeren (so bis 40) stören sich nicht so daran. Zumindest beschweren sich immer nur ältere Menschen.
      Die Krähen fühlen sich in dem Stadtteil leider pudelwohl. Ich glaube, dass viele, die ich so im Wald antreffe ihr Revier auch eigentlich im Stadtteil haben, sie aber auch dort sind. LG
