- February 29 | Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) joins The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell to discuss Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his refusal to recuse from January 6th related cases, saying Thomas has “refused to disclose what he knew and when he knew it about his wife’s insurrection activities and that has tainted a number of Supreme Court cases already.”
We the people will never ever forget what Clarence Thomas and Gini Thomas have done and continue to do, and we will eventually get justice for America.
There needs to be an overseer for the SCOTUS. No one and no group should be allowed to function without accountability.

The SCOTUS could only rule in two ways: A- full immunity, or B- no immunity, neither of which would be a good thing. So they came up with partial immunity. And, let s face it. If Thomas was a democrat you wouldn't be complaining.
@@JohnWarner-lu8rq I beg to differ; if Thomas was a Democrat & his behavior was the equivalent of what it has been for his entire tenure on the SC - i.e., deciding matters of law as if he was a political operative instead of an apolitical jurist, ruling w a blatant disregard for the facts of cases as they pertain to the law, refusing to recuse himself from cases in which his conflict(s) of interest weren’t just questionable but in some instances provable/well-known, in addition to the recent revelations of his public corruption, which somewhat border on bribery(!) - I’d be more than complaining, I’d be harassing my Senators & Rep. (MA), to get him off of the SC asap. Tbh, I was bullshit that Sotomayor was using her office as a means to boost her book sales, & that pales in comparison to everything that Thomas has been doing! Behavior like that doesn’t just reflect poorly on the individual, it taints the Party, & everyone in it, via “guilty by association”. So no, I wouldn’t tolerate it if he was a Democrat.
& I’d feel the same if the shoe was on the other foot, & 1 of my Senators or my Rep. wasn’t conducting him/herself w moral/ethical integrity & respect for the constituents & the office(s) they’ve been given the privilege of representing & holding, respectively. If you don’t, you’re doing yourself a huge disservice & should definitely do a self reassessment of what your personal, familial, financial, economic priorities/needs are & whether or not your reps are addressing them, either in their committee assignments, in their legislative proposals/submissions, or w their votes.

I don't want Thomas on this case and nor would I want a judge who had accepted a free $470,000 luxury RV from Dem donors to preside over one of Trump's cases. Why? Because it just wouldn't be right. Article 2 of the u.s. constitution states that it is the U.S. president's duty to enforce the laws of the U.S.
That is the very 1st duty addressed in our Constitution with regard to our President.
No one is above our laws including any Supreme Court Justice!

If your talking abiut Federal judges and or Justices then the Constitution sets the rules regulations for them. Any change would need to be done in a Constitutional Amendment. What is sad is the number of Americans that have no clue what is in the Constitution. I wonder if Public Schools have stopped teaching about America since I left HS in 1972. I started learning about America in the 2nd grade.

Mitch packed the Court so that Justice became a side show after politics were 1st applied in an unbeatable majority. That makes the decisions of this Court questionable rather than the Court of last resort FOR THE PEOPLE, AS IT WAS INTENDED TO BE.. With unchecked power comes corruption, and Mitch McConnell and tge Federalist society didn't care as long as they clinched their alt right, political unbreakable advantage. Lawrence, Look at what happened in - I think it was in the UK Supreme Court - in the Pinochet case where the case extradition order had to be vacated due to the close connection Lord Hoffman's wife had with Amnesty International, which had agitated for Pinochet's extradition. It was found (if I recollect correctly) that Lord Hoffman's presiding in that case was unacceptable on the basis of a suspicion of bias that he might have had (NOT did have) due to Lady Hoffman's activities on Amnesty International. Justice Thomas has no choice. He must recuse himself.
You act as if the US has the same type of justice systems as other countries. Other countries around the world are flabbergasted that tRUMP and his sycophants haven't been held accountable for their corruption. A federal prosecutor needs to file suit against Clarense, misspelled on purpose.
What makes the stay on the lower court even more appalling is that they are only looking at actions that might fall within a president's 'official acts', when there is only the most tenuous possibility that Trump's actions could be so described. So the point of law upon which they insist on opining is almost certainly irrelevant to the case they have stayed.
Why did one of the justises ask Alito, if a President ordered his death, if it would be ok?
