Chromebooks are a great way to get into computing as they are relatively cheap and have a number of great features thanks to the Google suite of apps. But, are they any good for people with low vision? In this video we will take a look at how they compare to Windows and Mac computers. Check it out and find out whether the Chromebook might be for you!

Again, I was hoping to have chrome box be demonstrated, for those who are completely blind. While there, I was hoping that you could somehow disable the trackpad, so that someone’s wrist doesn’t actually brush it and make something happen they don’t want. thank you for the video, and I will teach my students these things.

This was a vision on the low vision accessibility features, there are other resources out there on ChromeVox if you look around!

I am not a Chromebook user, always have been using windows. Where is the search key on the Chromebook keyboard?

Please forgive any mistakes in the following comment. Will dictation on the Chromebook catch every single thing a user says, even when not in a text edit field? this happens with windows, I know, but I’m not sure about Chromebook. Someone said, the Chromebook wasn’t accessible really, for people with visual impairment or blindness. however, from what you’re saying, that might not be true, correct?

Also, will dictation on the Chromebook work in something called, “secure text edit field. “This is usually wear a password would go. if it does, can you demonstrate that for me? What about one Chromebook is activated? Will it end the dictation feature Croft talk each other?

The dictation feature is specifically for text fields, not for controlling the computer

Hi there! My friend, please, do you know if there is a Wearable gadget glasses with night vision or infrared vision that helps people with Retinitis Pigmentosa to be able to see in the dark again? Or a device more useful for people with retinitis pigmentosa?
Thank you so much in advance!
    All the best,
    Roger

Hi Roger, I'm not aware of any devices designed for people with low vision that have a specific night vision feature. That being said, devices such as the IrisVision certainly brighten things up considerably in low light conditions.

Hi! Thank you so much for replying! My son has RP. Since low night vision is the most difficult problem rght now, I was wondering if a night vision device could help on this specific case, but I Just can't find on the internet a single mention about this subject. I guess I'll have to buy one of those ecpensive devices only to check if this is something that could improve the problem with the dark. Thank you so much again.

@@user-sk6ch9jo9c Yeah I can see how night vision glasses might be useful! There are some glasses called OxSight Crystal made specifically for conditions like RP, might be worth checking out.
