Switch access is used by people who have limited use of their arms for typing. Those that use AAC Augmentative Alternative Communication will use switch access to be able to enter text using the scanning and select method. Switch access could also be done using something like a sip and puff whereby activation is caused by sipping on a mouthpiece and puffing to select. There are a range of very sensitive switches which require very minimal amount of movement to activate, these are called proximity switches. Ablenet sell a very wide range of switches.

You should rewrite all of the Google help pages.
Ex. Chromevox or whatever...It's help page should say "For blind or visually impaired users" at the top in bold. Instead, I've assumed for the past two years that it's just some outdated version of dictation, and also text2speech.
It's as Frustrating as the Plague Store!

I bought a Chromebook when it was still Chrome OS 86 with a touch screen but returned it because I found select to speak to be very buggy while using the screen zoom feature. Also while zoomed in I would have to slide the screen to the bottom right to be able to activate select to speak and then slide back to use it which is a total pain. Has this changed at all? What I am hoping is that they will have an option to have that float with the zoom so that it can be accessed quickly. Have you tried using select to speak while zooming? They really need a floating bar that you can enable with accessibility features that will always stay on the screen. Great video by the way I really appreciate the use of time stamped links, great idea!

I have not used it with zoom yet, but will definitely try and report back.
Thanks for watching, the compliment, and I hope you choose to subscribe!

If have tested ChromeVox and Select to Talk, but the half of text can be spoken. Android, IOS and Windows works for people with dissailities, ChromeOS does not :-( (wiht a recent ChromeBook in 2022)
