- I'm having 10,000 players simulate CIVILIZATION IN MINECRAFT on a custom, 1:2000 scale model of Earth over the course of our Minecraft Civilization multi-part series.
10,000 players is a very achievable goal given that our previous servers had amounted to around 20,000 unique players! This is also a much longer-term experiment.

Would love to see this with a much harder scale to work off of, awesome idea, but the fact that people already had diamond armor and entire inventory full of potions is kinda meh, diamonds should be like super rare, with only enough just for a few to actually afford to wear them, give reason for people to wear various types of armor, and enchantments should be uber hard to come by. Really encourage trading and peace instead of just fighting.
Even allow certain regions like say the desert areas only place you can find/mine redstone so people who start there have a distinct trade good to offer to other nations.

It's fake he does not have enough money for a server of that size and I don't think a minecraft server can hold 10k people minecraft is laggy if there are 250 people
It likely wasn’t 10,000 players, very likely not even that many logged onto the server especially that many probably didn’t play for more than a day or 2. It probably wasn’t even 1000 players that played it regularly.

Each player in the game requires the server to keep track of their actions, movements, inventory, and interactions with the environment. As more players join, the server has to handle an increasing amount of data simultaneously.
Imagine a Minecraft server as a kitchen with a limited number of chefs (processing power) and ingredients (memory). When you have a small number of guests (players), the chefs can easily prepare meals and serve them without any issues. But if suddenly thousands of guests show up (10k players), the chefs get overwhelmed and can't keep up with all the orders. This leads to delays, incomplete meals, and frustrated guests.
Similarly, in Minecraft, with a high number of players, the server struggles to process all the actions and interactions smoothly, causing lags, delays, and even crashes. This is not just a matter of the server's coding, but also a limitation of hardware and networking capabilities. So, expecting a single Minecraft server to handle 10,000 players simultaneously is unrealistic due to the sheer complexity and resource demands of the game.

Could you redo this but on a random map, with large groups of players being put in different biomes (while being able to access parts of the surrounding ones) ? That would be great fun to watch. With no more than 10 groups (so they advance fast)

we started out from 100 ppl to 200 ppl to 500 ppl to 10000 ppl, these civilization vids grown a lot

I love these simulations but after a day or 2 everyone is stacked, and it is VERY difficult to fight or thrive in the server. Just in 2 weeks everyone has maxed netherite and an inventory full of pots. I wish that resources would be scarce so in the beginning armies of iron armor would walk the server.
It is an amazing video. Over ten thousand people were only in a server.
