  • Spent the afternoon on the West Branch. Nymphed up some nice trout and almost got schooled during a tricky sulphur hatch. Met some nice folks and had an enjoyable day!

I have been enjoying your videos. I bought a house a few years ago on the East branch in Hancock so recognize all the spots you've been fishing. Beeb tying a lot of flies over the winter and am looking forward to fishing the west branch and my back yard.

Great video, John. I met you by our cars after you caught the big brown. You gave me some medical advice but turns out it wasn’t my back. I had a kidney stone. Got so bad I drove home in pain and spent 4 hrs in the ER. Better now. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Keep up the good work . Subtitles are really helpful and your comments informative. Hope to see you again.

Just subscribed…great video, loved the effort and edit on music at the end; very nice content! I’m now interested in making the drive from Maryland this year, just need to figure out the details and do a bit more research and spend a few days. Thanks again!

Sweet stuff here man. Definitely gonna make the trip next year. I've got plenty of time to get a better understanding of what's going on out that way. 🎣😎

Nice video thank you for posting it I really enjoyed watching it. You fished some of the well known spots visited by so many. I would explore more and find little less attractive spots, also I prefer to fish B class water on wbd just because every angler always targets A class water. When fishing dries I find it more rewarding if I fish dry flies downstream, my catch rate is better plus you can add a soft hackle or emerger like tiny wd40 especially on cloudy days and just let it swing in the current. Maybe I see you there. Best of luck!

Thanks for the feedback, I don't get down to the West Branch as often as I'd like and often stick to the spots I know but should spend some more time exploring. Thanks for the tips I appreciate it!

I LOVE the way you handle fish. WB fish deserve the best care...shit, all fish do. Great video!

Great video! I’m starting to become a big fan! Love the way you explain your tactics and reasoning behind it ! Don’t worry about talking to yourself on the water , we all do it , ha ha ! I’ve recently started fishing the West Branch and find it difficult to find access areas to good runs .The first spot you hiked into looks promising, can you give me a good landmark so I can find it ? Thanks !

Thanks again, I'm glad you're enjoying the channel! So that first riffle in the video is easy to get to. I did put a map in the video at 1:21 that shows basically where I am but if you are in deposit at the bridge over the west branch you take laurel bank rd which turns into airport rd which follows the east side of river, it goes under rt 17 overpass and then past some houses and close to river. There is an inn called the Gentleman's Club and right after that a fisherman parking lot on right. You follow a trail downstream along field edge and that riffle is at the big bend in the river, can't miss it! Good luck

I like your videos and suscribed, because I fish in that area
If you're interested in the measurements of your fish, here's a tip (because I have the same net as yours). Take a Sharpie and on the wooden frame make some marks every inch with the 0 mark at the largest end of the net
    Take care
