I dimly recall The Overland was due to arrive at 8:30am and was often late and was called “The Overdue”, the response was to change the arrival time to 9:00am. This time was before the standard guage line to Adelaide and it was still possible to catch the day return to Horsham and later Dimboola. Also before the Kennett era and the cuts. Kennett did reinstate the Echuca train and he also introduced the more frequent suburban weekend timetable. It’s a bit like “what have the Romans done for us!”.
