GDF11: Moving the Longevity Needle? [2022]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 чер 2024
- GDF11, one more molecule that seems to go into decline as we age. But boosting levels of this peptide could potentially reap huge regenerative and longevity benefits. The jury is still out on this one, but the early research shows huge promise.
In today’s video, we’ll explore Growth Differentiation Factor 11, better known as GDF11. We’ll talk about what it is, what it does, and its impact on aging and longevity. We’ll take a look at the many benefits that are attributed to GDF11, and the controversy surrounding those benefits…or lack thereof.
And finally, we’ll take a look at one citizen scientist who has conducted research on GDF11…on himself. And the data that he and a cohort of volunteers have collected on this molecule.

Fasting for 24 hour periods can increase levels by up to 36% longer fasting like 36 hour can increase up tp 60%

Good to know. Thanks.
Fasting in firms of starvation is overrated, gdf11 lowers myostatin, fasting doesn't. Fasting causes muscle loss, by breakdown of protein. Just eat healthy year along, sleep, excercise
Can you share link to the study that you are referencing?
Thank you 🙏🏽 Lance. Awesome work as always.
I think it would be of interest for the anti aging community to create an encyclopedia listing every known compound in the human body.
Sounds like a great project. Let me know when you wrap it up. 😀
This was such a good video! loved it
Perfect as always ...!!!
Thank you Mr Hitchings
As always well presented, easily digestible and the research is backed up as usual.
Appreciate
Thanks for the great feedback.
Thanks you, love the feedback.
Very helpful presentation
There's hundreds of proteins that decline with age and need to be "boosted" but totally impractical to add them to your diet or even by injection. The solution must entail genetic/epigenetic modification to return the expression of all these proteins to youthful levels.
Agreed. And I do this with diet, supplementation and exercise. My belief is that I need to "do all the things", instead of focusing on just one thing.
Great stuff Lance. I'd love to try this and I've considered using Steve's protocol but I don't think I trust myself to be able to get the correct dosage. Apparently, the titration is tricky as it's in picomolars. But super curious to hear if you can nail and what you results are. Good luck
If I do, I'll post how I did the titration, along with everything else, and any results that I got. I'm considering it, but like you, I'm wary.
Great review. You're a good communicator of this science thank you. I would love to see your results if you decide to try the protocol.
Thanks for the great feedback. If I do the protocol, and it's looking like I probably will, I'll definitely follow up with a video on my results.
@@LanceHitchings any updates on this yet? Thank you!
@@SergeiVasilyeu Not yet. I still haven't implemented it into my protocol, but I'm still thinking about it. I'd really like to. I'm doing a video on peptide in general in a few weeks and I'll be doing a section on GDF-11. Going with Steve Perry's protocol is just so damn expensive.
Wow. Fascinating information.
Glad you think so!
Hello Lance, I started watching your videos and it's amazing how you have explained everything in an uncomplicated way. Also, I'm a fan of your progress. I am looking for your guidance on the following doubts:
1. I am doing IF (12to 7 PM). I want to start all the supplements - NMN, resveratrol, TMG etc. I am not sure about the timings, and if I take it in morning with yogurt, how would it not interfere with IF? I also take athletic greens in the morning, and I have same doubts about it.
2. My mother is T2 diabetic, and I want her also to start something. Fasting won't be good for her, but which supplements can be taken and what else can be followed from the longevity regime. She is around 60.
Thanks for your help.
resveratrol blunts positive effects of exercise, its disproven to be good, don't take resveratrol
Great work
Thanks
Are there any precursors to stimulate your body's production of GDF-11?
If you mean is there anything we can do to become a "converter", I think that trying to have as healthy a gut as you can, by eating pre- and pro-biotics. Not sure if you can test to find out if you're a converter.
I got some from BuckyLabs over a year ago. I had trouble following the Steve protocol but I do some injections and don't feel much of anything. However, because I'm over 70 I do have pains. If I inject directly into a joint there seems to be an immediate reduction of discomfort that is sort of permanent. It's inconvenient but I like it even though I haven't detected lots of touted benefits, and I don't take it so regularly.
Interesting. Do you monitor with all of the devices that Steve recommends? I'm interested in anyone who has used supplemental GDF11.
Any supplement Available?
Been using GDF11 since 2020. Great proptien.
What's your dosing protocol?
@@jrddoubleu514 I take 50 picograms on Sundays. Sometimes I bump it up to twice a week. Are you also taking GDF11?
Wow!
Irisina and Gdf11 will be a nice mix.
Hi Lance. I was looking forward to meeting you at RAADfest. Did you try Steve’s GDF11? It seems like a good combination with the adult stem cells you will be getting at RMI. I am a retired scientist so I might be able to help you in some of your endeavors. Let me know.
And Nutritionfacts have just released a subsequent video (How to boost FGF21 with diet for longevity) which is worth a look as food can alter levels quite dramatically
Yeah, I've been following their videos, and may do my own video on FGF21. It's longevity benefits seem well worth it.
Hi Lance ,
Great presentation as usual.
Could you reply with the link for
GDF11 source.
That would be really helpful.
Best Regards
Kevin
Anything that is scientific like this will not be available unless you can find it in a peptide store oversees or a longevity clinic. There is a natural source though. Deer antler supplements have TGF-beta, bone morphogenic proteins, igf-1 and other growth factors. Look it up.
Just buy it from Bucky, its domestic and ignore everything rizzobitz just told you as it is not true.
@@ortcloud99 Hi what is buy it from Bucky?
Thanks
Kev
@@MoviCresent You didnt have any luck finding out what that meant on google?
@@MoviCresent RESEARCH ARTICLE title: Gene Expression of Axon Growth Promoting Factors in the Deer Antler
"In agreement, several axon growth promoters have been described in the antler, including growth factors like neurotrophin 3 (NT-3) [15], NGF [8], Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Pleiotrophin [16], insulin growth factor 1(IGF-I) [17], [18], transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ[18], Bone Morphogenetic Proteins (BMPs) [19], [20], [21], and extracellular matrix components like collagen, laminin or heparan sulfate [22], [23]."
Is the body creating more GDF11 to fight cancer in people who have it, and that is why their levels are elevated? Correlation doesn't necessarily equal causation.
I am not finding a lot on this and I'm really interested.
Is there any negative or toxic responses to people?
I'd love to see you and similar content creators do a live stream around this, or maybe just some interviews with relevant people.
I don't thing that there has been any negative or toxic responses for people, but I'm not an expert nor am I that well read. I like your suggestion of a livestream around this process. Maybe with Steve Perry.
@@LanceHitchings I suspect it will be well received and help you stand out among your peers
Where can we acquire some?
Read the description: www.buckylabs.com/gdf11/
Link doesn’t work
Do you risk accelerated growth of tumors or cancer
how i can buy GDF11? Online or in Pharmacy?
It’s a massive molecule, it needs to be injected, like insulin it needs to be titrated carefully to avoid over or under dosing, careful trained supervision is recommended, along with monitoring.
Good info.
Thanks
OK, and every year I hear about some new magic molecule. I appreciate what you are doing, because it is not a sales job, but I hope you are right this time. skeptical, but hopeful.
I just report on what the studies show. With regard to longevity science, there's definitely no definitive answer yet. It's still a ways off...but it's coming.
Holy shi*t Batman! Praise be to Steve Perry and may his klotho addition prove up. Thank you Lance! 100 is the new 60 now FOR SURE!
Thanks! We'll see how this all plays out.
In the description, there are only generic links to supplement companies. Nothing directly to DFG11.
I've filled out the links, so they are there, now.
@@LanceHitchings Thx!
Sometimes (often times,) I feel like researchers are much too quick to label improvements as "age reversal." Something can be significantly improved whilst not moving the needle on its longevity, or worse, whilst having undesirable side effects (ie: cancer.) Given that this is a growth factor, I'd be particularly worried that the cost of all these alleged improvements is a commensurate increase in the risk of cancer (as some of the studies you mentioned imply.)
For sure, we're still in the early days of longevity research. Who knows what the future will hold?
@@LanceHitchings Indeed. Hopefully it will hold more future.
Just saw this today, i tried doing more research but everything seems older than this video!! Are you still just as hyped about this peptide? Or did this get debunked?
11:40 - But hasn't there also been a link shown between firemen and burning houses? Let's not be too quick to get rid of the firemen...
I'm not drawing any conclusions, I'm just stating what the research has shown. It's way too early in the research to make any conclusions.
In the Nutritionfacts video just released, it talks about how fasting can increase levels in rodents relatively quickly, but for humans it takes 10 days or so of fasting to significantly increase
I wonder if fasting increases everything in your body 😀
Yeah, but that's for FGF21, not GDF11.
Confusing stuff!
I know. Be great when longevity researchers can come up with some definitive anwers.
idk i looked this up and all the rat studies said it caused muscle atrophy in the heart and accelerated death.
anyone know what would happen if person took a large dose of gdf11? say 10,000pg or higher? Not necessarily all at once but over a few months
Modernism and centralization
Zero, none
First, one.
So I learned nothing
Rubbish
I wish you would fix your voice. It's unbearable
Thanks for the video!
