  • STEM CELL EXHAUSTION: The Hallmarks of Aging. It's been over a year, and we're finally at the last hallmark! It may be last, but it's by no means last in importance. Learn why this hallmark may have the most actual impact on aging.
    In this video, we explore why stem cells are so vitally important, what they are and why we start to run out of them. After examining the consequences of that, we'll tackle some strategies to restore our stem cell populations.
    02:17 What Is Stem Cell Exhaustion?
    06:08 How Does Stem Cell Exhaustion Occur?
    11:40 How Does Stem Cell Exhaustion Impact Aging?

      What about reactivating our so called "junk DNA"? it is not junk is just simply deactivated. We used to have that DNA activated many years ago and we were able to use 100% of our brain and never aged.

      I agree, because that's something that bothers me a lot from many other videos out there, even sometimes videos with a very good content anyway but addressing the audience in a very condescending, snobbish or very elitist kind of way, so to speak.

    I especially love the transcript of the video as the language & spelling is so good that it can be read by itself with or without listening to the podcast. Very much better than some of those more famous podcast from the famous scientist etc.

    So I was a stem cell donor for a leukemia patient at age 64. I was led to believe my stem cells would replicate quickly as though I was donating blood. I am constantly tired since then. Big change in the appearance of my skin. Stem cell donors are not usually actively recruited over the age of 40 as stem cell production slows with aging from that point. I feel I was mislead, lied to and screwed!

    Well done! This is one video that I think I can get my wife to take the time to watch. She's very committed to her health but usually leaves the science reviews to me to then pass along to her. Getting her to hear my sources is so much better, of course. 👍👍

    Hi Lance, your videos are very interesting. Since I like to know where the information comes from when people show me scientific topics, could I ask you what your data source is? Do you get information from scientific literature (with impact factor), PubMed, or similar? Also, may I ask you what your background is? Are you a scientist (PhD or MD), a scientific writer, a scientific journalist?
    Sorry for all these questions. I like to know about people that talk about science.

    • @LanceHitchings

      I list all of my sources in the description. No, I'm not a scientist or a doctor, although I do use a couple of medical researchers. I'm just a layperson who's passionate about longevity science and have found that I apparently have a knack for making complicated concepts more simple...for other laypeople. I think of myself as a synthesizer.

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  2 роки тому +3

      There are studies out there that state the berberine can inhibit mTOR. I'd say complementary, but that's just a guess.

    What about tests to determine what effects these substances taken in are causing? The tests, done periodically should help us determine whether to continue or change our regimens. For starters, conventional blood tests, also homocysteine, CRP, methylation. There is an extra blood test to check for the effects of K2 as MK7.

    What about embryonic stem cells and combined with a super strong treatment of senolytics before initiation ?

    • @LanceHitchings
      @LanceHitchings  2 роки тому +3

      Personally, I think that stem cell replacement is too new to try it as an intervention. It could easily cause cancer. As far as senolytics go, not sure about "super strong". There seems to be a notion that if a little bit is good, more is better. I'd avoid that kind of thinking.

      To be honest, I'm a little skeptical. It's really expensive, I've only heard of one company that produces it, and it claims to reset the biological age of your cells to zero. Sound like snake oil to me, but I could be wrong. Needs more investigation.

    There must be some other factor, we completly got no idea yet, getting old is like hardcoded effect. Of course we can take care of ourselves and living 110 healthy is worth making this effort, but this age seems like uncrossable barrier for bilions of people
