    Great resource, these baritone videos are. ESP seems to be making some killer guitars. It is bonkers to me that guitars of these prices don't come with a hardshell. I really dig the Evertune guitar. Keep up the good work.

      Dunable sent a special run baritone to me, all the way to Australia in a cheap gig bag... lets just say it was not a cheap guitar... came in a worse gig bag than some 300 dollar guitars ive bought have came in. And that's after they forgot about it for a month and then sent it with no contact information so customs scheduled it for destruction. Good times. No hate, but won't ever repeat. "growing pains' huh.

      @@GearStuffandThingsI’m still stuck on this one. I played an ET Jericho at my local GC and really hated how it sucked the absolute life out of the instrument… but if I get this guitar, I’ll be playing chuggy metal and feel like that won’t matter as much? What are your thoughts on playing distorted lead lines?

      @@benlarson8263 I own one, and it really doesn't suck anything out of the guitar. It works really well for cleans, distorted leads, chugging you name it.

    EC all the way. I am a sucker for single cut 7s. The gold saddles on the evertune are a cool aesthetic.

    Maple cap in theory has tonal properties.

      I laughed, because it's a fair point. Tonewood doesn't work on the pick ups and solid colour doesn't work on pretty woodgrain. It's a redundant feature.

      @@ericdpeerik3928Tone wood and bridge type in my view does have an impact. I have enough guitars with different designs and same or similar pickups to believe it matters. Pots matter too.

    I've never quite understood it when people say that an EverTune "sucked the life out" of their guitar. Because of how much wood is removed or...? Genuinely curious.
    I, personally, keep having them installed, because I think they are just the greatest thing ever. My [build year] '99 Ibanez RG7421 and '98 RG7621 each got one recently; never thought those guitars could be any greater than they already were, but here we are.

      They absolutely affect sustain and resonance I have tested it. That being said for metal and busier high gain stuff it's not audible. It's a lovely tool for sure. I am still not the guy who needs one. I respect that you do and I am stoked for ya finding your thing!!

    Given that the pickups are basically the same I found that they sounded different. I am leaning towards the EC personally but I appreciate how the phoenix had a bit more of that “pianoy”chime with the cleans. One thing I do like about ESP guitars is that the inlays match the headstock shape. Now to see if they make a 6 string version. Cheers.

      @GearStuffandThings  5 місяців тому

      @@reedengle6134 I think there’s a different in that there is a tone circuit present in the EC as far as the pickups go. They were tuned differently in the isolated portions which might have had an impact on tone too :)
      Thanks for check it out and chiming in!

    Something I've noticed since becoming a hobbyist luthier (I build for myself and give to impoverished school children)
    The Maple cap on a painted guitar is a defect from a guitar they were going to use as a flame/quilt stain and there was a flaw
    So they paint it.
    And then they get to say... oh it has a maple cap!!!
    If you were to strip the black paint you'd find a flawed flame or quilted top
    (I've tested this out myself by stripping some guitars)
    It's just a way to recoup the defect into an actual product instead of a complete loss.

    • @GearStuffandThings
      @GearStuffandThings  4 місяці тому

      @@the_algorithm I agree 100% that, this happens.
      I think with these it’s more so the case that they added a solid color various per John’s request and rather than repurposing they just painted over the existing bodies that were meant to be purple
