Instead of cloud gaming i kind of wish logitech went the extra mile and made this a pure handheld gamign console. Especailly since microsodt took interest in this device too. This been perfect for downloading and playing games on it much like the steamdeck and the nintendo switch. When hear logitech making a handheld i thought they were doing what sony did 20 or so years ago and trying their hand in the console market. Not really into cloud gaming but if logitech made this to play microsoft, indie, and pc games on it i would be interested. Who knows maybe in future logitech think out of the box. Now overall from what you and few people say this acts more like tablet and cant be bad thing, if logitech decides to do more with this new handheld i may be interested in future. Logitech has something here and see potential of this device. Here's hoping, be nice to see another good handheld console enter the frey, especially one made by major company well known here in the U.S. Anyways good review, i keep my eye on this device and see what logitech plans to do with it. (also im new to emulators, you recommend any emulators i can download on an tablet? Would very much appreciated it)
Question, does this have TV out? And does the rumble work in Forza on Xbox live? I dunno why this doesn't have wifi-6 for a cloud device, at least to future proof it. I dunno bout this, I got the Odin, paid less, bigger battery life, more power, video out! Just gotta be patient. Great review though, but would really like to know if this has video out or not.
I think the designers made a mistake not including tech to communicate with your TV, like a remote control. That would fit perfectly with cloud gaming.
I think this is one of the best looking handhelds. Compared even to the switch. Screen could have been an oled at least though for that price. And even then it should be cheaper.
good review, now someone need to make a grip case or some skin for this handheld device, this white colour might get dirty overtime, might turn yellowish
Thanks for awesome review (as always)! I find positioning of shoulder buttons weird as well. If I had this device, I think they wouldn't be comfortable to use. The biggest con of this device is its high price, though.
I'm a little confused with the statement "it's a bit early for cloud gaming" but then during the video describes having a great time with cloud gaming.
Your article on the site has errors that are a smidge confusing to the reader. I'm assuming you meant "brightness" instead of "battery" in two paragraphs. e.g. "100% battery and 80% volume". Great review, but I'm surprised about the sound/volume. Others have reviewed saying they were decent, seeing as Logi makes headsets. Also, how was Tencent even involved in this device? I think readers/viewers would like to know, especially since Tencent is known to overstep with privacy concerns and ties to the Chinese government and data sharing with Douyin (owners of TikTok, a whole other privacy issue). I personally would not use any real credentials on this device, especially if Tencent did the android build. They won't even say how long security/OS updates will be supported, which is shady.
Getting one delivered tomorrow. Jumped on discount coupon that made the price $249.99. Was planning to cancel once early reviews started coming if really negative but completely forgot until got shipped confirmation.
I'll be honest, I can only see this becoming useful when we reach a future where the Internet is a basic human right. Something you can find anywhere at high speeds no matter what. At the current time you'd be better off buying a Deck or Switch, or even just mod a PS Vita.
I put my gcloud on tablet mode and set tv launcher as the launcher so it looks like the Roku tv interface and I have shadow pc on it so I can play my steam games . And have psp roms on it when I'm not near strong WiFi. Just wish it had a sim slot for LTE and it would have been perfect . Next version should be gcloud pro in a black color way have 8gb ram/256gb/SD 865 /LTE sim slot /wifi 6e/90hz oled ecreen and charge $400 then it could make it and the current one at $250 .
I heard more "incredible" quotes here than in a long time... but then it was all countered by the price. What a shame they didn't read the market better. Hopefully they'll adjust quickly!
Wouldn't the selling point of a console like this be that it's as cheap as humanly possible + a good screen? Why increase the price with mediocre hardware? Doesn't make much sense.
I could see this being $200 in a month or so (probably around the time Razer Edge comes out) I picked one up and I've been liking it with using Xbox and GeForce Now.
I've heard of this thing already a while ago and was waiting for Reviews. It's great to know that it also has some Emulation capabilities, but $350 is just way to much imo. If it were closer to 200, or even 150, I maybe would've considered it.
In Canada, it retails for $460, which is totally insane. Add sale taxes and this gets near $530. And before people tell us that it's literally priced the same because of exchange rate, note that no one has their salaries adjusted because of exchange rate. Which means while it's still pricey for a US buyer, it feels even pricier for a Canadian one as our wages weren't raised when our money value went down the drain. We earn the same, but everything went up in price. Which sucks a lot, and makes devices like this an even harder sell than it should be. And to be honest, with all the competition out there, I don't see a lot of people interested in that specific market (portables) thinking this is good value given all the other options available (depending on what you want to use it for and if emulating, what are your expectations). And... Logitech. A company that used to mean something but now with a general build quality and software engineering that went in a downward spiral over the last 5 years or so. Customer service that is mostly good to make you feel like you've just been told to go F yourself too. Had two expensive mice of theirs crap out on me over the last 2 years. A gaming keyboard too. And have tons of problems with my Logitech headset (mostly, the horrible G Hub drivers). This device looks well build, but I'm not really trusting Logitech anymore. I had better luck with all those Chinese companies, quality-wise, which is unreal when you think about it.
I think I'll wait to see how the Razer Edge handheld goes, otherwise I'll wait for a Logitech fire sale on these devices which shouldn't be too long if they manufactured a lot of these.
The Edge doesn't have a 16:9 screen ratio. I feel the use-cases between these 2 devices are very different (Android gaming vs Streaming). I'd recommend getting the one that fits your use-case the best.
@@rpheuts I would consider the Edge over the GPD XP Plus because of better support from the snapdragon vs the mediatek dimensity. Looking for a somewhat portable android system that has good battery life. Currently have Steam Deck and Onexplayer 5800u but battery life isn't that great and neither are portable. Still have Anbernic 351p and looking to replace that with an Android system device.
I only see something like this becoming popular is when game streaming becomes your only option. We're transitioning consoles to a world where you only get games via download. Just wait till you have to stream all your games and you have to subscribe. I hope to never see the day when I have to subscribe to a game service. For those complaining about the missing 5G/mobile data, most major carriers allow hotspot up to your plan limit with your cell phone or you can add hotspot to your line and not have to add another line.
I would buy this product if it was cheaper but not for cloud gaming, instead I would use this mainly for emulation because of the Snapdragon 720G chipset
great video. im looking for a decent size handheld around 7 inch screen like this. i want it for emulatin from amiga to playstation 1 to n64 maybe abit of saturn. in ur opinion what would be the best handheld to get for what i want thanks
It's not that the price is too high but for the same price you could just buy a Switch which run games natively and with high support from Nintendo and their legendary library.
I did kinda wanna get one of these, because on my switch lite, i can't interact with all my friends, and there's just more games on xbox I like. However, knowing how the swtich lite and switch is, they're not comfortble. Nintendo is famous for basically making the worst controllers for adults since the N64. The game cube even being kinda weird and quirky compared to the PS1 which is based on an SNES. But then the Xbox 360 came in and basically made one of if not the most comfortble controller and changed the game. Sidenote, I remember having a friend who was super into his PS3 and was like, "best controller ever" then he held my 360 controller and got mad at me because how comfortble it was. But anyway, I can tell in the few videos I've seen of this, mostly because it's new and not a lot of people are talking about this at the moment, that the control layout is tight, and for larger hand people this isn't going to be comfortble. Even with a satisfye grip on my switch lite, i still struggle with comfert at times. How well will it handle GTA Chinatown wars for PSP? What emulator were you using for PS2? And it can't do game cube?
I think it missed the mark. No 5g or wifi 6 means no real dedication to cloud gaming. Meanwhile the internals are equivalent of a midrange phone 3 years ago or even longer, most people that have 350$ to spend probably already have a way better phone and would rather buy a powerbank and a good controller. Compared to similar priced devices you pay extra, which of strange because the companies behind them are so much smaller.
Not sure about these cloud ready and heavily WiFi dependent devices … … anything much north of the RG353 is appealing to a whole different (non retro, and perhaps younger) market … … this trend / trajectory is morphing handhelds into something more resembling large, fancy (but charmless, cookie-cutter) android phones with bolted-on controller buttons. I’m going to pass on this one I think and get back to playing my cherished set of (largely 2D) Master System, Mega Drive and PC Engine (etc.) ROMs ☺️ I’m hoping they release an RG353 ‘max’ at some point 👍🏼 and continue to enhance the Linux based products.
I don't understand that situation that they offer now... it doesn't make sense without 5g connection or in the future faster... why would I want a device to stream from my own house if I can have a real console that allows me play games natively with higher fps and better results
To me this is a companion device, so I can continue playing my pc games down on the couch or in bed. I can also use it to remote in to my Xbox or Playstation while someone else watches TV. I pre ordered mine for $249 through logitech so I definitely wouldn't recommend it at full msrp. Imo they should of made this the Cloud S for $199 and made a Cloud X for $349 with the G3X and some more ram.
I'd rather get the switch lite over this. Others may argue but the switch lite offers a complete new set of library, unlike streaming devices like this that only offer, well, "streaming". Besides, I always play on my PC for games which is why I have no use for streaming devices.
I have to admit, I didn't think this was going to be any good... I'm not into Cloud gaming but I do agree that the price is too high for what it does, but I definitely see the appeal of it. I don't know why, but the white colour is quite off-putting... Maybe because black/grey seems to be the norm with handhelds...
I don’t think I’ll EVER get passed the latency from cloud gaming, no matter how minuscule it is it will always be in the back of head when I play. Unless it’s proven that it’s the same latency as a wireless controller to console then maybe cuz I’ve never ever noticed that latency where as a lot of people say they can feel it, so idk
I got it yesterday and I must say the gaming experience on this device is much much better than on my Google Pixel 4a phone. It's like a new iPad mini with a built-in controller. The speaker is very good, the screen is nice, and the quality is very high. But Xbox Cloud Gaming is not as good as Stadia because the latency is high and resolution is low for Xbox Cloud Gaming games. I am going to return it. If Xbox Cloud Gaming becomes good, then I would buy it because of the huge Game Pass Ultimate library.
Some exclusive features for this G-Cloud. Extra long battery life, light weight to hold and 7 inch display. I would buy this over the AYNs, over the AYA Neo, over the RG552 and over the RP3.
Hmm, I'm not sure who will buy it. I mean, I have Odin Lite and i can play a lot of Gamecube, WII games, it has wi-fi 6 (? haven't tested it to be fair yet ;p, but doesn't it mean that it may be even better for cloud gaming than logitech ? :p). And it costed me like hmm 230-240 $ ? 100 $ difference is a lot. I just don't see anything special about it. The only benefit (?) is big company behind it. And now, when you can buy cheapest steam deck without waiting, i guess the solution is obvious ;)
Good review but I couldn't throw my money at a steaming only device. I much prefer to play my games natively. If there's an Internet outage it'll be nothing but a paperweight with a screen. People scoff at the size of the steam deck, but at least it can play offline. Plus, it is possible to stream if I wanted to - which I don't 😂
You can play games locally! That's what the micro sd card slot is for as well as the Google Play store. That's also why it's priced the way it is and the reason I'm purchasing one. I don't care for cloud gaming either, not the reason I'm purchasing one. I plan to run my games offline mainly. ETA Prime shows offline emulation in his G-Cloud review, and the performance is really good!
Streaming means - INTERNET required everywhere. And that's something that's simply not possible to be achieved on Planes/ Trains/ Trips to your summerhouse lake side and so on. So this devise is for home use only.

Does PlayStation Remote Play work on it? How about the 3rd party PSPlay from the Google Play Store? Are you able to get those apps to detect the device's buttons, dpad, triggers, etc?
This device has so much potential. If it had a SD 845 with active cooling and at least a keymapper, id say $300 would be a good deal. In its current state, $200 max
I've been using my old Pixel 3XL (with a PS4 controller) that has the SD 845 as a handled. Having a AMOLED with HDR screen and that strong process really does make a killer game system. But for game streaming I'd give up the extra processing power just to have a better screen.

If only it had the SD 865, I'm waiting for that andriod handheld. Hell I'd even take a andriod console with that SoC and wifi 6e and bluetooth 5.2
It's good that "real" brands like Logitech are making emulator handhelds now, as the build quality of generic Chinese devices can be dubious.
The PSP Go was peak design. Give me that design with usb-c and an oled panel, running android.
For the price, a really prefer the AYN Odin :)
Great review and agree with you 100% on the price and such.
I could see this being $200 in a month or so (probably around the time Razer Edge comes out) I picked one up and I've been liking it with using Xbox and GeForce Now.
probs even less, i could see a 100.
I have a phone (Redmi note 9 pro/poco m2 pro)
And it costs 145$ with all same specs. (Except gamepad)
not as big with a built in controller though i wish they sold this at 200
the only thing I like about that "console" is the launcher
another example of corps telling us what we want, instead of the other way around.
I've heard of this thing already a while ago and was waiting for Reviews. It's great to know that it also has some Emulation capabilities, but $350 is just way to much imo. If it were closer to 200, or even 150, I maybe would've considered it.
Agreed
Hell why noy make it 100 or even 50 bucks rite we are entitled we should get it
I think I'll wait to see how the Razer Edge handheld goes, otherwise I'll wait for a Logitech fire sale on these devices which shouldn't be too long if they manufactured a lot of these.
Also I can't believe Logitech dropped the ball on the internal speakers for this device. In the 90s Logitech made some of the very best pc speakers.
Honest question, why buy this when you can get the steam deck for 50usd more.
Why not buy both the Steam Deck and the Logitech G-Cloud?
At the end of the video we say just that, it's better to go for the Steam Deck.
I would buy this product if it was cheaper but not for cloud gaming, instead I would use this mainly for emulation because of the Snapdragon 720G chipset
And the base steam deck
Why didn’t you mention Xbox Game pass for those of us who don’t own an Xbox?!!
You get a lot less lag by streaming games installed on your console or PC as opposed to Cloud streaming.
great video. im looking for a decent size handheld around 7 inch screen like this. i want it for emulatin from amiga to playstation 1 to n64 maybe abit of saturn. in ur opinion what would be the best handheld to get for what i want thanks
Looks decent but that price is way too high.....and besides I'm still in awe of my Steamdeck its amazing!
I have a bit of a mini obsession with my steam deck I have to be honest, and now I have the official dock it's just got even better
I was gonna buy this but then I took my medication and recovered. 😊
Not sure about these cloud ready and heavily WiFi dependent devices …
… anything much north of the RG353 is appealing to a whole different (non retro, and perhaps younger) market …
… this trend / trajectory is morphing handhelds into something more resembling large, fancy (but charmless, cookie-cutter) android phones with bolted-on controller buttons.
I’m going to pass on this one I think and get back to playing my cherished set of (largely 2D) Master System, Mega Drive and PC Engine (etc.) ROMs ☺️
I’m hoping they release an RG353 ‘max’ at some point 👍🏼 and continue to enhance the Linux based products.
I wish they would have put a Snapdragon 865 or 870 in this thing, then I can see paying $350 for it.
Even a SD 855+ suffice, beating out the Odin's SD 845.
3 major down sides. Cloud Gaming, Price and Tencent.
Yes. Superb and I love mine.
Android!
I'll just wait for the Razer Edge
Definitely not for me mainly cause I don’t like gaming on cloud and I could already do all this on my phone.
I saw another youtuber run GameCube games much better and it was very playable.
Thinking of getting the powkiddy q90 I bought the x350 and was disappointed
It’s $350 for $50 more you can get a steamdeck
Are the buttons loud and clicky like an xbox series controller or quiet like a ps5 controller?
Streaming means - INTERNET required everywhere. And that's something that's simply not possible to be achieved on Planes/ Trains/ Trips to your summerhouse lake side and so on. So this devise is for home use only.
But he's playing local games here.
@@lolcat The only local games he's playing here or android apps. Keep in mind what you're likely holding in your hands right now, or in your pocket. That's right! A phone! Something that can also play the exact same apps he's playing locally here.
@@oldchannel2892 my phone doesn't have a large screen and buttons though
I wanted it for google stadia but it’d pointless now.
Any updates on Powkiddy X18s ultra black, review??
I have one just don’t know anything about emulation and adding games I’ll send it to you if you can hook it up
What a strange product for Logitech. When I think of words to describe Logitech, *innovative* isn't one of them.
What’s the process on downloading Roms for PPSSPP??! G cloud arriving soon and want to add God Of War asap!😭😭
A Handheld History was never received. please have your customer service team reply emails. please!!
Can you stream the games you play on it?
Everything you can do with this console, you can also do it with a Retroid Pocket 3 which is 200$ cheaper.
RP3 can't emulate PS2, has less battery life and a smaller screen etc.
it can be played anywhere not just in the home ?
As long as you have wifi. Or android games that don't need the internet or emulators.
You need Wifi for the cloud stuff.
Can't get that out of my head now, the Steam deck does look like 'King Kongs big toe' 🤣. I bought one and sold it because it was stupidly oversized (and crap battery), hopefully Valve will make one G Cloud sized, we don't need the silly track pads either.
Just purchased this... how do you run an emulator on this device?
Are they even releasing this in the UK? Seems to be US only at the moment.
US only at the moment.
Anyone ever told you that you look like jona hill
If designed as a streaming device it definitely should have had wifi 6/e. Period.
I been a fan of my old boy emulator for years but recently the link local trade system stopped working for pokemon I feel like its a update issiue with it not being up dated in a while can you reach out to the devolper to try to fix it and make a video about it thanks its the best emulator for gameboy :)
I thought they had WII and even switch good on android. Meh.
I can't even afford anythine this year.
So hopping there will be something even better next year or next.
You been revewing these every month now. New one for the past 2 years or so.
I want something windows based. More support. Maybe they will make things better with updates for those emulators.
Windows based and fit in the pocket. Something powerfull. Handle dolphin ps2 and maybe higher...
What racing game is that @4:12? It looks awesome!
Forza.
@@angeluxgaminguploads5352 Thanks! I think that's a game I could really get into playing.
Can it play switch by itself
Does PlayStation Remote Play work on it? How about the 3rd party PSPlay from the Google Play Store? Are you able to get those apps to detect the device's buttons, dpad, triggers, etc?
Yep!
@@RetroDodo Someone else said those apps don't detect the G Cloud's buttons and sticks, etc.
Yeah $350 is way to much for this device... $200 is the limit I would pay for such a device.
This device has so much potential. If it had a SD 845 with active cooling and at least a keymapper, id say $300 would be a good deal. In its current state, $200 max
Like the ayn Odin 🤷🏻♂️ my personnal choice 😀
@@ledouxbenjamin yeah, they are just simply too hard to get now
I've been using my old Pixel 3XL (with a PS4 controller) that has the SD 845 as a handled. Having a AMOLED with HDR screen and that strong process really does make a killer game system. But for game streaming I'd give up the extra processing power just to have a better screen.
@@jaym5869 i have a z fold 4 and geforce now formats to my 7.7" screen so its hard for me to justify these devices. I just wish it had an sd card slot
So... 300 bucks and Not even gamecube emulation? This thing is so pointless...
Tbh they aren't misleading as they aren't offering emulation with this system, just cloud gaming.
Does this gaming have GTA for it ?
Early? I think not Brandon lad.
Yes! At 50% discount
Im just waiting for sony to just release a freaking new vita
