Thx for posting. We want to head here this winter and we’re very torn on which resort to do. I hear so many like dreams more then secrets yet I hear the chair saving issue is way worse at dreams. So thought I’d go with a swim out to prevent that but they are sooo expensive. Price dropped a few weeks ago and should have book. It didn’t and now it’s 600 more :(
@@rachellelynn9406 oh that's a tough one! A swim-out is a great option but I would avoid the ones in the upper building. The swim-outs beside the pools are great to avoid the chair hunt. The swim-outs in the building by the quiet pools were all getting renovated last month so they should be in great shape. We went to Dreams too and it has some things that are better than Secrets. Club level is much better at Dreams. Beach is better at Dreams for use but the views are not as good. Chair hunt is fierce at both. Secrets vibe is more relaxing and upscale without kids. Asian and Italian restaurants at Dreams are better. Mexican, Oceana and Castaways are better at Secrets. Dreams does have two adult only pools as well as adult only buildings if that helps at all. I'll try and put up a walk through of Dreams asap so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Either way a swim out is a very good way to avoid having to get up at the crack of dawn to find chairs. They have added more chairs and umbrellas but still not enough imo. Hopefully, the price will drop again soon. 😊
@@Zwiftsushi Hi! Thanks! I'm currently creating the review video. January is busier so I would stay happy medium. If you enjoy socializing and doing things the active pool is a good option. The quiet pool and beach are chill. There are no foam parties, DJs, or crazy games. It does not tend to be a late night resort. Desires nightclub is open late with some dancing. It's fun but it isn't packed. Hope that helps a bit. 🙂
@Zwiftsushi We do really like the resort although it does need some TLC and renovations. The staff and the location are amazing!! The rooms are dated and a bit worn but very clean and comfortable. The food is mediocre. You won't go hungry but it is very inconsistent. One night the steak is very good. The next night the steak is inedible. If you are ok to just "roll with it" and order something else, when or if they miss, it is good. It is not at the level of many other Secrets properties but it also costs much less than most other Secrets properties. As long as you adjust your expectations you'll have a great time. I don't recommend the upgrade to preferred club unless it comes with the room choice you want. The preferred lounge was disappointing and too basic to pay up for. If it comes with your suite (like a swim-up) then go for it but otherwise you don't get much for your money. Overall, the staff and location are at the heart of what makes this place special and even with its flaws we will definitely go back. 😃
Hi Nancy! I’m so glad you made a video about Huatulco, I watched your videos of the el cid resort and just returned from a 10 day stay there and loved it! I’m now actually exploring Huatulco as a destination for my next trip. I am looking to choose between secrets, dreams, and las brisas. Which one is the most modern and has the best beach? I like a nice resort but beach is also important as well as food. Thank you so much! ❤keep making videos for us ❤
That is awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed El Cid! Honestly, if I were you, I would look at Dreams Huatulco and see if club level fits into the budget. It is a family resort like El Cid. It is a bit smaller than the Ventus section of the complex. The beach is much more swimmable than Secrets. The dedicated club beach area is great at Dreams! There are two adults only buildings and two adults only pools as well as family pools. Food was better at Dreams than Secrets. I'll have a couple videos up soon about Dreams. The rooms are more modern and the adult only building suites are only a couple of years old. I was impressed. 😃 I don't know a lot about Las Brisas but I have been told it is pretty run down. Hope that helps a bit. Have fun planning your next vacay! 😁
We are going back to Huatulco in December We stayed at Las Brisas a couple years ago and it was ok but very large and the rooms were really dated. We are trying the Barcelo this time mainly because it was cheaper than Secrets lol but Im sure not anywhere nearly as nice. We loved the area especially going into the town Beautiful little church there and lots of little shops and restaurants I think Covid really hit the resorts in Huatulco hard. I think they were closed right down for over a year or at least thats what our Air Canada rep told us
It is such a a nice little town! 😊 I was also told that they shut down for a long time for COVID. That must have been so difficult, I can't imagine. We went to Dreams as well as Secrets this trip and we found Dreams was actually nicer than Secrets. It impressed me more than I expected it to. We also went with Oswaldo from Gran Turismo to celebrate and understand 'Day of the Dead'. I highly recommend it if you get a chance next year. Enjoy your trip! No seaweed, great temperatures and lovely people - doesn't get much better than that. 😀 (I would love to hear what you think of Barcelo if you get a chance).
Hi David! It is actually older. It is so darn difficult for Americans to get to Huatulco. I don't understand it. You often have to fly into Mexico City first. We met a lovely couple from Oregon and it took them two days to get to Huatulco. Next time, they said they are going to get to Vancouver first and then go direct. If you want to price it out, I would grab a 'puddle jumper' from JFK or LGA unto YYZ. Book a package from Air Canada Vacations or WestJet Vacations and then go direct from there. With how strong the American $ is right now you can likely score a deal. It's worth a visit to experience the area if you get a chance. It is very safe and the people are just lovely. Have a great weekend!
@@newtravelescapes Thanks Nancy, great tip! You guys are lucky you have more options. I have a feeling you will do a series on Cuba one day, and we Americans will just go: what???
