I love the look of Firefly since it stands out amongst all the other minis, it fits comfortably within the specs required to enter into narrow streets of European cities. It has a smaller battery and therefore Charge time is shorter if one decides not to subscribe to wonderful service NIO offers, BaaS. The different looks in NIO sub-brands accommodates a broader tastes for different looks. Nio ceo emphasized on Firefly not being a Cheap car. It is a luxury car in its own class.

You do not buy an EV without swap if you have a brain. In a Tesla year 9 if something happens to the battery it is up to 3k in labour and then pay for a new battery... In practice the car is then scrap. Now compare that to swap and renting a battery.

Value for money isn’t just about battery size, range, or the size of screens. Some people will happily buy a ‘lower value’ car because they value styling, ride and handling, , engagement, how the car makes them feel.

The look didn't particularly strike it for me, but other than that I really do like what the Firefly stands for: Small city car that doesn't skimp on tech & features. BYD Seagull, and especially the Wulings, are nice but they're purely barebones car with minimal tech compared to other EVs. I'd prefer to take a Robotaxi but I doubt they'll come to busy Southeast Asian city streets anytime soon, and Model 2 got thrown in the bin, so Firefly looks to will be it for me.

I agree. I like the design too. As for value I agree it's not worth the proposed price value outside of China. For that price I would like to see a minimum guaranteed benchmark of 300 km all season all weather range between 10-80% SOC, a more practical interior similar to the Kasper, LFP battery and V2G,V2L and V2H support and a solar roof with 25% efficiency. All other things considered as presented I think this EV would fit the 10-12000 euro price bracket max for what looks like a B class EV.

Firefly never made for Chinese market. It was created for European market with European standards. Originally, battery swap was not part of the design as well. But EU kinda put rain on NIO plans. They just launching in China recoup some money I think. Company itself does not think it will sell many. Their target is 50k for Firefly this year.
I suppose a case could be made for a swapable battery for long distance drive but this is an inner city sized car that you can easily charge over night at home. That feature doesn't make sense.
They should drop two or four lights front and back and it is going to be a much better design. It is a small and low cost car, two lights in the front and two in the back are enough.
It's going to be tough for Firefly in Europe. Desirable cars like the new Renault 5 EV will start around 25 thousand US dollars. By the time the Firefly lands in Europe it will be more expensive. I don't see Europeans paying more for a brand that has no history and while I personally think it looks better than the average EV, it's not an amazing design like the Renault.
Nio/Firefly are unknown brands, with no locally perceived pedigree, trying to market itself as an upmarket brand in Western countries. It will be an uphill battle, no matter how well the cars are built...

Firefly never made for Chinese market. It was created for European market with European standards. Originally, battery swap was not part of the design as well. But EU kinda put rain on NIO plans. They just launching in China recoup some money I think. Company itself does not think it will sell many. Their target is 50k for Firefly this year.

I suppose a case could be made for a swapable battery for long distance drive but this is an inner city sized car that you can easily charge over night at home. That feature doesn't make sense.

They should drop two or four lights front and back and it is going to be a much better design. It is a small and low cost car, two lights in the front and two in the back are enough.
It's going to be tough for Firefly in Europe. Desirable cars like the new Renault 5 EV will start around 25 thousand US dollars. By the time the Firefly lands in Europe it will be more expensive. I don't see Europeans paying more for a brand that has no history and while I personally think it looks better than the average EV, it's not an amazing design like the Renault.
Firefly design is much prettier than the ugly cybertruck.

Nio/Firefly are unknown brands, with no locally perceived pedigree, trying to market itself as an upmarket brand in Western countries. It will be an uphill battle, no matter how well the cars are built...
