- In this episode of Hermitcraft season 10, Mumbo builds a giant Minecraft redstone piston door for the Hermitcraft Poe Poe consisting of Skizz and GoodTimesWithScar. I then add to my Minecraft survival mega base with a new Minecraft bank build, and we also talk about recent Minecraft updates.

What if you used a randomizer to make the A light in "SAFE" flash on and off periodically?
You should use Skulks or Skulk Sensors to make some Birch Trapdoors flip on and off behind the A in SAFE on some spots, so it looks like some light bulbs are flickering on and off, but Skulk Sensors to make it more subtle Redstone wise.

Your honor, since Neil Hamstrong's death was clearly accidental, and that Mumbo was busy troubleshooting a piston door, this is classified as a workplace accident.
Since workplace accidents typically have the employer responsible, the Po-Po are the ones to blame for his death, especially since no pre-cautions were taken even though they knew the job would involve arrows.
Plus, if you look in the footage frame-by-frame, Mumbo fired the arrow with the crosshair clearly directed the target BEFORE he moved his mouse to the left, which means that this was a hitbox issue rather than being an intentional kill.

You should hire Skizz on a retainer. Dont tell him why you are hiring him. Just give him some diamonds and tell him you anticipate being sued. It might not work, but it would be funny when he realizes he might have to defend you against himself.

I live in a small town and the nearest hospital is thirty minutes to an hour away. In a completely different town. So not every town needs a hospital. Though it would be interesting to see him build one!

I was so distracted and anxious about it... Hermits have a habit of getting blown up by creepers while distracted by building.
What's funny is it reminded me of how the hermits visit and wander around during time-lapses. It even just hung out on the stairs for a bit.

What Mumbo said makes sense. We often do things the inefficient way because it feels easier on the brain than the "efficient" way. It is true he spends more time clearing the wool or blocks without a beacon, but he can get started straightaway, and it's an easy and repetitive process. If it's enjoyable on top of it, he can listen to a podcast or something on the background, why not.

Mumbo discovering "the door problem" of game design while designing a door in a game lol.
Not sure if I'm allowed to post links in the comments so here's a summary of the door problem for anyone who is interested:
The door problem is used as an example of how complicated game design usually ends up being, even to the point of "just adding a door" becomes a massive process with a large number of thins to consider and decide on. Things like:
Can the player open the door?
Can the player close the door?
If doors can be opened/closed by players, how does this happen? Do they press a button? Proximity based?
Are there more doors in the game?
Can all doors be opened/closed by the player?
If not, do we use some sort of design hint to tell the player if a door can be opened or not?
Can doors be locked?
Can they be unlocked?
Can the player decide if a door is locked/unlocked?
If so, how do they do that?
Etc, etc, etc.
All of this then get much more annoying if the game is multiplayer.
After all the design of the functionality of the door you then need to program it, get art, get sound, get animations. Maybe it can't be programmed like you designed it in your current framework for the game. Do you spend time changing the framework or do you redesign the doors?
And then you have to repeat this process for every single thing in your game. Which is why game design can take so long, especially when the studio becomes larger and larger, and you need more and more people involved on each step of the process.

I’m with Mumbo on the red stone logic point. I think manually building things like item sorters and logic gates teaches you a lot about how they work in real life. That’s how I learned them anyway

I think your base needs one of those neon signs where a burnt-out letter conveniently turns the remainder of the word into something silly. It would add character to the Row!
Here's a tip: Arrows aren't the only thing that can activate target blocks; other things like eggs and snowballs could work better in scenarios like this due to how they don't deal damage upon hitting an entity (except for snowballs hitting blazes).
Or you could just fly directly into the target with elytra and fireworks, that's always an option.

Also, I kinda wonder if the new calibrated skulk sensor could be used to spoof a target block activation. I think it can respond to using the bow, and the "invisible" redstone would blow their minds.
7:55 that honestly sounds more like a form of executive dysfunction more so than “laziness” (laziness doesn’t really actually exist)
Like, in an a very significant way, yes, putting efficiency on your shears and putting down a beacon would make you more efficient.
But it would also interrupt your mental order of operations.
You need to do your build, you want to do your build, so you’ve built up in your mind an order in which to do that.
Step one is removing the wool outline, step two is getting the blocks, etc.
The time it would take to put efficiency on your shears was not factored in, and trying to factor it in is making your original “build thing” order difficult to follow
So the easiest solution is to just not do that. You want to get to the thing you want to do, in this case build, in the order you planed it out in, not take steps out of the order.
Just a hunch but I’m autistic and I’ve gotten really used to my executive dysfunction being a little ridiculous, but usually it’s way easier to work with it than against it.
Instead of being down on yourself for being “lazy” about it, try planning a day where you’re starting out plan for the minecraft recording is to get all your gear enchanted and write out the steps to do so (making the gear, getting the XP, having books/grindstones/advils on hand) and you’ll probably have enchanted shears.
Same for if you factor in the time and effort it takes getting and setting up a beacon and taking down the beacon into your plan, you’ll be using a beacon more often

I think you should keep on building from concept art and planning it through with the viewers on the server, it gives more life and story to the build I think, and us viewers feel even more connected with the builds and mumbo. Seeing the thought process and feeling like I'm there with Mumbo is a big reason why I enjoy watching Mumbo's Hermitcraft episodes.
I feel like you should make the A in the safe sign flicker somehow and really send home the department store vibe.

I'm loving these new builds! (recommendation: I would add chairs around the antique shop made from scaffolding and bamboo trapdoors, that seems like something the shop would sell. I'd also put some boxes at the bottom of the cliff as if they fell off, maybe a broken chair down there too).

I think the best approach to the creative world vs experimentation dilemma is finding a balance of both - for example using a concept art based approach for key locations that dictate theming for the area (like big ron's and the knicknack shop), creative mode design for aspects you know will be large or need to do something very specific within the limits of the game (the bank both be exuding wealth in a pristine way but also fit with the other builds) and more freeform/moodboard/vague inspiration based experimentation for things that fill space, conform to preexisting terrain and/or connect the other types (like the storage rows or the forest). That way the overall feeling isn't constrained, the parts with the strictest demands don't burn away time to figure out, and the flow of the base can still maintain an organic feel. It's just a matter of balancing the amount of each with the time and ideas you have.

When it comes to the farming area, have the farms be rundown and turned into where you get dirt, gravel, sand, and other soft earths. The owner tried his best being a farmer, but people kept trampling the crops making shortcuts to the food van (later), so he decided to rebrand as Agri-gate. Piles of gravel and sand available for purchase, and the dirt is just dug from the fields so theres a filthy hole.
Then for food, a food truck / hippie van. P.L. Plants; for all your organic food needs (just ignore the automated harvesting farms supplying the food). The van set up on the edge of Magic Mountain Row and people tromp through thr farmlands to shortcut to the food truck, because the irony of ruining naturally grown crops to get fed from a hippie van claiming their food is organic is delightful. P.L. Plants used to be named R.L. Plants, after the owner Reece Loveland, but the sign has faded so people mistake the R for a P, and Reece doesn't want to invest the money into buying paint to fix it.
The background music in Mumbos videos sounds like a mixture between Harry Potter and Home Alone. I can dig it.
