Who got sad with the "I'll never get tubby again" article? Gosh. That was sad. In some ways, not much has changed, we still do focus on looks and weight but something about that article, the title, the content that mentioned, just really made my heart sad. I love your videos, I don't want to sound like a downer. ha! I really enjoy seeing the differences and commonalities through the decades.
@@JeannieBASMR Well, I was 17 when I said I wouldn't become obese because I felt absolutely terrible in my own skin, I ate a lot just to make my mum, who's been deprived as a European WWII kid would be happy even when I wasn't hungry or felt like eating. I never did any sports because she felt it wasn't necessary and I was so clumsy and bad at it that I was teased by my schoolmates so I even stopped gym classes at school. But I was starting to get bad cholesterol and skeleton issues as a teenager. So as soon as I was 18, I started changing my diet, ate only what I needed, started doing some exercise and eventually found a weight that I was comfortable in. I'm now approaching 50 and proud to say I'm fitter than when I was a teenager. I agree more inclusiveness is good but I believe in being healthy not encouraging people to be lazy and just be fat because it's easier to stay in the couch or the car rather than walking or biking whenever you have the opportunity. At least in Europe we still can be mobile without a car, even if in some parts of the US, it's probably less common, but still... . Please don't get me wrong, some people do have some hormonal issues and can't do anything about it, but most of the time, it's a question of bad diet and lack of exercise. There's a balance between being naturally slim and healthy, a little chubby but healthy or overweight/obese and unhealthy or skinny and unhealthy.
You are a very special and sensitive woman. You are a beautiful soul. You have so much love in your heart that not even all the sadness in this life can reach you. You will raise your forehead and strengthen your heart always, even in the battle against melancholy and those pains you fight with. I see them, I see you, because I am also on that same path... I can recognize love and pain at the same time in your eyes... Your beautiful green eyes. Keep doing what makes you happy and gives you purpose. You help many! and you don't even know it at all. But by being yourself you are reaching the right hearts. A big hug with love from the south of Chile 💙 God bless you dearest 🌹 Elizabeth.
I was born 1959 i really wish i was born earlier to have been older in the sixties coming from Liverpool UK i would of never been out of the cavern watching the beatles and other merseybeat bands . Love your channel ❤
Thank you!! Jeannie I loved today’s message and walk down memory lane. Oh boy, do I remember being a little toddler in the mid 1960’s listening to Perry Como music one of my parents, favorite crooners wonderful vacations, that I watch on DVD now that I took off of the eight mm movies or just watching TV everything just seemed to always be A-OK….not care in the world. I was probably around four or five years old.in the late 60’s You’re right I lived in a little world never knowing what was going on around me other than when my Godfather my uncle was 15 years old when I was born….I think one of my mother’s younger brothers went to Vietnam and I remember I couldn’t even write and my mom helped me write letters to him on air mail paper I didn’t understand what was going on at the time I didn’t know but I know it wasn’t good though and luckily he did come home. But those were simpler times and I would love to go back to those days. The dreamer I am… I guess for the sweeter times…. I could never be a child today the stress alone would probably kill me and that’s why I have to listen to you so much and I’m very grateful I found you on here just so you know 😊 talk to me every night. Thank you so much. You look beautiful. Your hair looks great. Warmest regards, Esme’🌸💝🌸💟☮️♓️🦄
I remember going Horne’s when I was very little. It was still around, and still a department store known for quality shopping; my grandfather really liked them; there would always be a few Horne’s boxes laying around after Christmas. I just remember the train the store would set up for kids to ride on at Christmas. I loved that train! 😆 So funny, I always say the world should go back to the styles of the 1960s too. All the slim fitting, tailored clothing that was fashionable, and could easily go from day to night. I always tell my husband he should dress more like that because he looks so good in that style. That said, I think everyone does. BTW, you have a great French accent! 😁
Hi, Jeannie😊 Your hairstyle is perfect💖 Love as always🥰 I miss the times when we would buy the latest issues of the magazines and read about all the latest news, rumours on cozy evenings, and discussing it with friends and family. It always made me feel so comfortable and connected to the world. Now it’s so hard to keep up with the world, especially for someone like me.
Jeanie i just want to say that as the mom to a person of color i LOVE and respect the way you talk about the past. My grandmother used to talk about "when it was old fashioned" but she always reminded us that other people didnt have the idylic time she did.
I know I was in an idyllic bubble - not of riches, but of love. My parents shielded me from the harsh realities of the world that people like your grandmother knew about. I truly appreciate your words.
Jeannie, I want to thank you sincerely for what you do. The amount of stress in my life the past year has been unbearable at times. Your demeanor, voice, presence, and topics, take me to another time in which life was simple. I listen to you every single day before I go to (what I consider) the worst job of my life. Thank you for bringing more joy to my life. God bless you. ❤
You are so welcome - and thank YOU for sharing this with me. I hope things turn around soon for the better. Find things - even little things - to be grateful for. It helps! 💕💕💕
I love your magazine flips! ❤ Thanks for the relaxation! PS your hair and make up are gorgeous in this video! Also, thank you for your discussion on different experiences at the start. Too many people idealize the past and don’t acknowledge it wasn’t white picket fences for everyone. I so enjoy your personal thoughts and memories about past eras
Thank you for this video! You look beautiful! I love the pink tops you have been wearing in the last couple of videos and your hair looks great today. You are making me wish for Spring🌺🌹🌻
Wonderful to see and hear this! I was a teenager in the 80´s which was a lovely time but the swinging 60´s is my favorite era fashion wise, everyone looked so chic!!
Jeannie, your warm and lovely presence reminds me so much of the women in my life like my mom and grandmother. I am in college far far away from home and it gets hard being away from that environment, and your videos always make me feel so warm and taken care of, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your channel and the work you do for it.
Jeannie, you are truly one of the best ASMR channels out there today. not only are your videos fantastic but i love how personal they feel. especially the little message towards the end regarding the body images issues and how reassuring you are. I hope your channel continues to grow more and more because you deserve it. much love.
Just stopping by to say thank you! I've been checking your page obsessively for days, just what I need to help me concentrate on my work. You're a godsend! x
All of your videos are great, but some- like this one is incredibly. Your voice, the flow, context all of it is really the best soft spoken asmr out there. And it’s not those weird asmr-tist videos being over the top intentional.
Im so happy you had that childhood. I feel like so many people in those years didnt have that. I know my mom went hungry and had a lot of abuse. My mom broke the cycle for us! Im so excited to give my future children the childhood you speak of and what I had💕

Your hair looks beautiful!! Love it styled and cut like this! Awesome video as usual as well 🥰 I could listen to you flip through old magazines for hours and hours…and I do! 😁🙏🏼
Thank you so much!! This style is a bit longer than what I’ve had for the past few years. But this is how I wear it nearly everyday when it’s long enough. Just pulled up into a clip. It’s so easy and it’s off my face, which I like.
I'm gonna have to steal this style because my hair is ALWAYS in my face when it's all down. You've inspired me to switch it up so thank you my friend. Hope you have a great rest of your week 🥰@@JeannieBASMR
Hello. I really enjoy these videos. Do you think you could do a magazine flip thru from the 90s? Looks like you've done a few in every decade from the 40s-80s so I'd love to see one from the 90s era.
🥰😍🥰💖 Glad you're well dear. Yesterday I was missing you and realized you hadn't posted in a few days, which is unnusual, and I prayed everything would be alright with you and your loved ones 🥰🙏
I absolutely adore your videos! The time and effort put into it is appreciated. As someone who can only dream of living/somehow finding a time machine to visit the 60 and 70s, I would love to hear some stories from the time! P.S, I can assure you that there is some of us young people out there who dress like this lol! (albeit, few!)
