  • This week it is still humid in Italy and I'm still heavily pregnant but I have some updates on the pool and kitchen renovations to share with you. We go picking wild blackberries at sunset in Tuscany and I bake a flourless gluten-free chocolate cake for my parents' arrival in Italy.

You can always add another oven and stove top if you find you need to cook on different temperatures. I use to sell real estate and there were many kitchens with large families who had multiple ovens and ranges. They were Italian families! They love to cook. I also have a friend who is Italian and we are always talking about cooking. I use to never cook but since started watching your channel which I love, I am now cooking fresh meals for myself. Mostly Italian and French (I also watch Chateau Diaries) in which they do a lot of French cooking. I am 76 so you have me eating healthy! When I was younger I was in sales and sold multimillion deals so I eat at the best restaurants who served the freshest and best ingredients. I was spoiled but since watching your channel I am taking better care of myself. You are such an inspiration. Glad your family is there for you. Your Mom and Dad are amazing people. You are so fortunate to have been raised the way you were! Because of that you bring us all joy so thank your Mother and Father for me for raising such a lovely daughter!

Another beautiful snapshot of your life in Italy. :) Please allow Patrons to continue to contribute even during your maternity leave. I don't contribute because I expect you to produce a video every Friday, I contribute because I believe in you and want to support you and the life you are building. Although small, it is how I show my appreciation for the beauty and goodness you create. I'm sure there are many others that feel this way, as well. 😊

I love the kitchen shelving! You could always leave the shelving open and live with it for a few months before deciding on curtains. If the cans and jars don’t bother you, then you don’t have to expend the extra energy making curtains:) Someone else mentioned using baskets. That could be a nice option to keep baking ingredients together so you can just pull down a basket full of all the items you need when baking. Whatever you decide will be perfect! Do what works best for you!!
    BTW, you are glowing!!

    No curtains- they gather dust
Your shelves idea is perfect and knowing you you’ll keep it all in good order and pretty and with a child- they like to play and hide and find out what’s behind… there’s a saying in Italian- “let it look like it’s being lived in”- loose translation
Congratulations on everything you do! Auguri!

However, a multitude of objects uncovered gather even more dust that is harder to clean than throwing a curtain in the wash. I don’t have an alternative for the curtains however. She does have another curtain underneath the sink, and would make a cohesive look. One can always draw the curtains completely away when you need to view what you’ve got. 😉

    • @Haupialani
      @Haupialani 2 роки тому

I agree but not because of dust. It's more convenient to glance at the shelves from across the room instead of having to go there and pulling the curtains to see where something is. No curtains for me.

A tip I heard recently, is to get babys used to noice. When a baby is born, we all seem to want to be quiet all the time "because of the baby", but I saw a few videos recently of people raising their babys making noise like normal, so their babys didn't wake up just from everyday life sounds. I found it extraordinary

I would 1) transfer as much as I could to decorative clear containers 2) hide the messy stuff in baskets with cute labels attached. These baskets could also be dispersed among all the shelves to add to the decorative look. You, of all people, will make it look beautiful!

Just think of it as a 'interlude' instead of a distraction when your firstborn adjusts to life outside the quiet safe place of your womb. I personally believe many young women who are new Mother's to be are sometimes overwhelmed with the amount of advice and information available and offered for newborn care. You are built with the intuitive gift as a Mother. Think of it as a lovely rhythm. Those positive thoughts will make a powerful difference through the adjustment segment. Love radiates. Tenderness is a tangible power. Deep breath and peaceful, beautiful music helps sustain the atmosphere in the home and the heart. You will do wonderful Kylie and Guito will be a loving Father. You are so very blessed. This is my little bit of advice from my own experience, and I wish you joy and peace.💕🍼👶

We have a pool pump in our laundry room. I've arranged a table around it so I have a surface to fold on. We can still easily access the pump. I vote for no curtain in the kitchen. The space is small and you can access stuff easier. You might have to consider what goes on those shelves for a while. Small hands and are they not just the right hight to climb up at for a tiny person? When my kids were tiny I just made my lower drawers kid friendly, tuperware, cereals they enjoyed eating...their were treasures tucked about. We spent many happy hours cooking together. Yes on occasion my daughter poured out the cereal and rolled in it. Just call it tecturalization. When they were done I swept it up. The good time had was totally worth the clean up.

With regards to the finishing of the pool, I think what you have to also bear in mind, that children being children, don’t always use the steps to get out of the pool! If they were to be using the side of the pool, the sharper sided stone could cause a nasty cut ( i have seen this before with pools finished off like that) a rounded edge is much safer. I’m only saying, of course it’s your choice.

Always a joy to watch your videos. For the shelves, I personally, as a person in a kitchen all the time cooking, practicality and efficiency is a priority. Aesthetically the shelves are beautiful, and having your food content neatly displayed is not unattractive and definitely easier to reach out for, than searching behind a curtain. Very excited for the work to start and getting as much done before your much loved baby arrives. Also, so very happy that your parents are there to help you along the way and bond with their grandchild. 🥰 Many wonderful days ahead coming!☺🤍

I think you can use the shelves open at the bottom and just put all the canned goods neatly and jars for beans, flour, sugar, cornmeal, etc. Your kitchen should be one that shows off who you are…and you love to cook. The only thing to think about is when your sweet baby boy starts walking you don’t want him to grab things off the lower shelves that are breakable. Baby proofing your home will be challenging to say the least!

God bless you and your family. I look forward to your posts. You asked about whether or not to put a curtain on the bottom shelf to hide what is on the floor. I would suggest using large baskets for storage of these items. you could pick them up to move them when cleaning the floor and when stocking your items or selecting your items to use them. Or your dad could build custom-size wood boxes with lids in the same stain color. Your toddler will be exploring under the shelves when you are cooking....

How lovely to have your mom and dad to visit you at this stage of your pregnancy, also I’m sure the help is so welcome. I remember 35 years ago how helpful my parents were while I was expecting my first child. Also, Everything looks so wonderful and I’m sure you can’t wait for your pool to be ready!,

The shallow shelves in the kitchen are great! A good use of that space. I agree wholeheartedly that deep shelves and deep cupboards are more work and items get hidden in the back. Also, Kylie last video you asked what items to purchase for baby. This is my items I like to give new mothers: a men's soft shaving brush to use to wash baby's arm pits, neck or any tight places like little fists. Calendula cream is amazing diaper rash cream. Midwives made it for me and nothing compared to it. Soft small baby wash cloths I include as I used some for small faces and some I set aside to use instead of baby wipes. Baby wipes tend to be cold and change time can be a challenge so using a warm little wash cloth is soothing. Hope that helps. Blessings from Alberta, Canada.

I vote for no curtain on the pantry. The flourless Italian cake looks fabulous and since I'm on gluten-free foods, I know this will be delish. Thanks so much, Kylie!

Oh Kylie…. Another magnificent episode. You are looking radiant and calm, in spite of that intense heat. Thrilled that your parents have arrived to support and care for you. It’s such a joy to see how valued and loved they are by Guido, too! Love the open shelves, and thanks for the torta recipe. Looks delish! Love to you all from cold Sydney. ❤️

What beautiful progress… it was such a shame to hear that the lavender died, but we appreciated it each morning when the bees were enjoying it.
So happy to see your parents. What beautiful shelves! Maybe a lace curtain would cover just enough and also allow you to see through to the beautiful mason jars. I like the idea of seeing the beautiful Italian packaging of the pomodoro, ceci cans and sardine tons etc.

I agree about your idea about shelving in the kitchen. Anything more than 2 items in never is seen and easily forgotten. It reminded me to check my cupboards and purge! I have a more open kitchen concept and love it. Makes it so easy to grab what I need and not fuss with items tucked inside a cupboard or drawer. Enjoy your beautiful home!

Kylie, another beautiful vlog! So happy your parents have arrived before baby comes 🍼 I love the look of fabric on the shelves. When you have used fabric in the past it has looked so rustic and beautiful. I also wanted to say I will HAPPILY pay you each month while you are concentrating on being a new Mum. I don't care if you can't put content out for a few months. I want to support you! It can be your maternity pay 🙂 you have given us so much 💕

As I’m not able to be a patron - I support Kylie’s beautiful art in other tiny ways- I am so glad for your comment. Over the past couple of years watching her videos, I believe Kylie’s built a unique caring community who truly would agree with you… the quality of her films and the intention behind each detail is so admirable. We wish the very best for her and Guido and lil man without the worry of ‘producing’ … I pray she focuses on this precious time of family… we will wait👍❤️ Fan from Florida 🌴

I love all your videos! I always look forward to when you release a new one. I am a Mom of 3 now adult sons. One tip that I found helpful, when breastfeeding, make sure you have a big water or other healthy beverage next to you and make sure you have an Eskie filled with finger foods. Breast feeding makes you very hungry and thirsty. It also means you will only have one hand free to eat. So make sure they are foods you can eat with one hand.

So glad you are feeling good and your health has improved for delivery of your baby. What a relief I’m sure. That chocolate cake looked delicious. Love blackberries but I think raspberries would also be amazing. If you put curtains on the shelves, it should either match or complement the curtain under the sink. Or maybe some lace curtains that sort let you see through them. If your pantry will be neat, then leave it open. Curtains would only be needed if it was gonna be messy or disorganized. You don’t strike me as disorganized. Either way, I’m sure it will look amazing as you have great taste and style. So happy your parents are back. Enjoy your time with them. Until next week, take care 😍😘

So glad that your parents have returned! They are lovely and oh, so very helpful! I love the kitchen shelves. You can always try displaying your goods and if it feels like they would be better hidden, just add a curtain after the fact. I am so excited for you and Guido with the near arrival of the baby!!! So so much happening all at the same time...good to see another video on the progress of farmhouse projects andddd to see Mom and Dad made it there safely!! I for one love the concept of the open shelving (no curtain) because it forces one to keep things tidier and makes it so easily accessible ...I think the shelves add charm to the area with the olive press and I agree with you on shelves instead of a dresser..space would be too tight for sure with a dresser ....I love your blue top it looks so nice on your olive color skin....wishing you the best in your last trimester!! I pray it keeps going smoothly for you as it seems to be now!! Enjoy your time with family Kylie...you deserve it, plus more!! 🙂

Yes ! There’s nothing like having your mom’s help during this special time. My mom came for a few weeks when each of my sons arrived. She quietly moved in the background cooking shopping laundry etc: supporting me so my focus could be on baby. She did this also w/ my sisters. It was magical, and I remember how I cried the day she left, lol! 👍❤️🌴 ps, she turns 95 on Halloween, so blessed to have these long-ago memories to share w/her

So happy to see you and your family happy and healthy. I think you should try to go curtainless on the shelving for a week or two. Live with it and see if the visibility of pantry items bothers you. If it doesn't, than great. And if it does, you can always make one later.
