Osmo the wood.
Oh! The natural wood would look so much better against the stone. Try some stain/sealant on the cover.
I thought the same. Maybe even a white-wash treatment to lighten the wood but still show the grain.
looking lovely but personally i would leave the wood natural it looks mellow 😊
Me too. Too much white is overwhelming sometimes. Contrast is much better when everything else around is white too!!
I agree with the other comments of not painting the wood and using osmo/varnish. Would have also loved to see Anna’s haircut 😍😘
I wouldn't paint the wood.
The drain pan area looks fabulous!! I love the way you worked out the cuts! 👍🏼 please don’t paint all the wood - what about just some Osmo? The natural color looks great with the walls!
Osmo is a good idea (in condition it's going to be redone in few years of course...). The color could repeat the color of the floor in the house.
The wood work would look lovely varnished.
I would leave the ceiling and the wood box natural.. it compliments the tiles and the setting
Stunning tiling Eddy is very talented skilled worker
Don’t even know how you carry on alone on these projects!!! You both are just amazing !!! ❤
Leave it unpainted more organic, less glaring in the Summer sun. Just Osmo.
Ed looked so Regal sitting up on his Throne!
Of course 👑 🤴 🤣🤣🤣
Edd, how you ever "saw" anything at first with the shape that house was in, is an absolute marvel to me.
Put lights under the wood hiding pipes in garde patio
The wood looks fabulous against the stone, makes for a really interesting contrast in textures.
Thank you, you two ❤, anna should have shown us her new hair.
Love the outdoor space 🎉.
I can see it with some nice plants xxx
Well done 🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Anna and Ed you have been giving this ancient building new life it’s amazing. This building has had many incarnations in its long life but I honestly see this home enjoys the love and life you both are breathing into it
I actually like how the unpainted wood looks! But when you have a vision of how you want it to look, that is important! It will be nice either way!
it would be criminal to paint the natural beauty of the wood. have you thought of just varnishing it. i bought some osmo on billys recommendation for my work tops and its a fantastic product, but there are cheaper varnishes out there too. the outside/living part of the garden is looking fabulous. can't wait to see the 1year one to remind us of all the hard work you and loui has put into the building
Don't paint the wood white. It will look clinical. You want a more Mediterranean look with plants.
Although I favor white ceilings, if everything else is white the natural wood might be a good contrast. Just don't stain it to be darker than it already is.
@@Bobrogers99 yea, maybe a faded white or egg shell.
Definitely leave it unpainted the organic wood much nicer.
Agree totally.
Paint what we call Pickle it.
White wash the wood….love the details in the wood equals nature.
Edd always forgets his glasses, you should keep an old pair in your car so when you forget them you can use your old pair. Edd, Ana the tile work looks awesome, The ceiling looks really good. God bless you Edd, Ana, God bless your Family
Just a suggestion, leave the wood natural, as white would look messy very quickly. Especially with hanging plants that need to be watered. Or you could stain it, even if you stain it a light colour, the texture and grain of the wood with the stone would look warm and cozy.
So pretty outside! I was thinking a little water statue of some kind would be beautiful out there and slightly cover traffic sounds?
I noticed people are saying don't paint the wood... I don't think they've considered the fact that the wood needs a sealant and it's quite a closed in space in the sense there is little light due to lack of windows.
Painting white - lifts it up and brightens the whole area into a pristine fresh area.
The house is coming along well. Take care of your back, Edd. Anna, you sound much better, thankfully. Edd, I won't say don't paint the ceiling because I know you have great taste. I can tell you have great taste because you married Anna!😂❤
Love the transformation of the court yard.
Brilliant work but I wanted to see Anna's hair too!! 😊
Painting the tongue and groove ceiling white is the way to go! I had originally left mine timber finish and when I painted them white it lightened up the whole area. It will look fabulous!!!
Thank goodness that fugly drain pipe is covered up now, it bugged me. lol! You guys should do a budget recap as well when you do progress report next time! It’s coming along & looking great! Cheers Kirk
I drove by the house Tuesday 24.09, on my way from Bordeaux to Donostia. It looks great!
You make really good decisions, Ed. Your taste and quality of workmanship are of a high standard. Keep trusting your visions. May you make a rewarding profit from it.
Looking good! Suggest you wait a year before you stain that pressure treated wood, otherwise you will experience premature "flaking and bubbling" where residual moisture is trapped.
Gosh, the black iron work on the exterior is beautiful! I can’t wait to see the tall front door in place. It’s going to look classy!
I’m gonna have to say you did a fantastic job. I’m very impressed.
What a power couple, Edd and Anna !
I agree with many others--don't paint the wood. Love the natural look with the render and tile. If you want to lighten/seal it, how about a "white-wash" that allows the wood grain/tones to show through....but not white white, a color to match the render. Just my opinion.....♥
Ed, you both are such REAL people that I feel myself relaxing and letting my anxiety just melt away.. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.
No paint on wood.👍 Property is looking great! 👍🥰👍❣️
The front looks nice now. It will be stunning when the door is in.
Painting the shiplap (tongue and groove) white will brighten that space up beautifully! Anxious for the “after” pics.
The patio is great. The outside has transformed into a beautiful building, great job!
You did such a wonderful job. The house is really shaping up. I really like how the natural wood matches the stone.
It looks great. I would just stain the wood, love the natural look
We absolutely love what you are doing on this project. We are in Bordeaux now and enjoying it immensely. If anything brings us back here, it will be this project. Thank you for taking us on this journey! ❤
I agree with other commenters. Natural wood finished with oil would look fabulous.
As much as I love white interiors, there is something truly unique about the wooden ceiling and the plant area you created for Anna. Have you considered using a clear outdoor sealant on the wooden areas instead of painting? I also think that having all that white may be somewhat blinding due to the sunshine in that area. Either way...I cannot wait to see it all completed! You have done a marvelous job creating a beautiful area out of nearly nothing. 🙂. I
Fantastic dont paint that lovelt wood maybe some sirt of lighting to add atmosphere Looking good young Ed 🎉❤🎉❤
Ed is sitting there contemplating life! HaHa! Hope all of you are well! Thomas! This place is looking great!
Just a thought...I think a light stain and then a sealer on the new wood roofing would look amazing. Because it will enhance the stone for a more natural look. Plus I think it would hide the dirt or dust better than the white and overall should be less upkeep. Edd always does a nice job the wood looks awesome!! ❤
I wish you wouldn't have to paint the wood. It's looking so warm and cozy and beautiful with the wooden floorboards. Never the less your work is as always mind blowing. You are so talented. Good job to both of you. Such hard workers.
Wonderful seating and outside flooring Ed, a credit to your work 👏👏
Yes I agree don’t paint it just stain it guys
Gorgeous work & design. I REALLY like the natural textures & colors, the carefully chosen color for the stucco work. Even on a cloudy day it's all infused with warmth & sunshine. Good going!
I can't wait for the front door. Grills look beautiful.
Wow the terrace looks so very good Edd!!! The drain looks great! Wow, that is a nice gift, very handy. You have gotten so much accomplished by yourself Edd. Miss Louie! Hope his business is going well. The tongue and groove ceiling looks good. It was a very sad place when you first showed it to us. Amazing all that you all have done and it is going to be a lovely home for someone. I like the pride you take in all that you all do. All the best! lol lol He is sitting down on the job!!! lol lol Love the ceiling!!!
A Tonge and Grove ceiling way to go Edd. Being perfectionist just means you are sharpening your skills to the next level up. Edd is a great builder.
I'm sort of surprised that you didn't power washed the facade of the building on both sides of the street. Next to the crisp white paint, you can see the 100 years of dirt and smog accumulation on that sandstone.
Looks good that Ed /Anna, perhaps natural is a better option but down to you, its yours. Most people will be looking down into their drink, I would think! Lol. Stay well you two.
I personally like the idea of painting the wood. I usually like wood to be stained but the area where the wood is I find white paint would be beautiful.
Who wouldn’t love to live there! Going to be cozy and lovely place.
Osmo the wood billy uses it a lot it protects the wood outdoors and indoors too
Lovely ceiling! I’m liking the natural wood look against the stone.
Edd, the tiles look wonderful, even around the drain! You did a great job!
I've taken to hanging my glasses from the neck of my shirt. They're just cheap reading glasses off Amazon. I think they were five pairs for under $25. I put a pair in the car, the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, and in my purse. I still walk around with a pair hanging from my
t-shirt! Lol.
The ceiling looks really attractive. I like the wood.
Good work Edd and Anna I’m so happy you had a little time for some pampering. I kind of like the wood tone on the ceiling, but it’s your house so whatever you do will be beautiful. ❤
The wood looks beautiful without paint, just my opinion. It will be beautiful no matter what you decide!❤
I love the wood ceiling. Wow! The garden looks terrific! Great work!
As always you put your heart in what you make, beautiful job. Hug from Sintra
I like the cream and white mix in the patio area! Nice and bright
Once it is painted you won’t see the cuts unless you are looking for them
It's looking awesome!!! Yes, recharge your batteries too, working looking up is very exhausting! But it is looking great y'all! ♥
Love the wood. Would love to see it kept in it's natural state. But after all it's your build.
By painting the wood in white Ed it's going to be more harmonious with the front of the house. It's going to be less «High maintenance» also. The ceiling there is going to look higher. Another option, is doing it with Osmo with few coats to protect it better. You are at the best place to decide. :)
That outdoor area is lovely.
I see others feel the same way about the wood as do I. At least the ceiling - natural wood would look good there. But it's your place. And very nice work on that drain and seating.
I remember the first look at the place last year where I shook my head and thought "this is never going to work." But you've done it! It's looking fantastic even part finished.
Dear Edd and Anna, the transformation is definitely progressing. I love the ceiling. It will look great painted.
The tiling was done perfectly. I don't know how you would have done it differently. I would love to have that in my home.👍
Edd, please come to North Texas and put that in my backyard. Bring Anna. We'll have some wine, too. JK
❤ from TX!
Ed ....You have done amazing job ....Wow 👏 👌 ❤
It looks awesome! Good to hear Anna's voice and see you Edd!
The last outside job should be the front door. I can’t wait! And agree with leaving wood natural.
Looking forward to the spoiler vlog. You have transformed the building.m👏👏
Edd… you should be using a pneumatic 16 gauge finish nailer. The nail goes diagonally through the tongue of the T&G paneling and is thereby hidden from view. Better than any face nailing or screw.
That timber looks great!
On a budget, but great workmanship from a perfectionist. Great combination.
I love the natural wood as does so many others.
Terrace looks inviting ❤ Oh and the other Juliette balcony is on ❤
Absolutely beautiful transformation
If you have to paint, white may be too sterile. Perhaps a light cream with a hint of peach tone to go with the tile? Or go to opposite of the color wheel for a muted mediterranean feel with a pale blueish color or even a few shades lighter than the plasterboard in the house. Make it a magical space.
I would Osmo the wood to make a contrast with the stucco, but whatever Anna wants.
Edd & Anna, you two are amazing. You have so much energy and passion for what you do, and it's so impressive that you can maintain a chateau, a weddings & events business, rehabilitation of a Bordeaux home and a house rental for the passion project. I'm exhausted, just thinking about it!
Great tile job its good the drains are working well. A flower shelf thats great . Youve done a great job and your lucky to work with Anna.
To set your angles easily, you need to invest in a bevel set (or square). Takes the guessing out of things for getting angles right. The house has come so far from where it was at the start.......GREAT JOB!
Great job with the tiling.
Hello from hurricane alley! Anna, have you been sick? Me too! Edd as always everything looks great! My vote for the ceiling is not conventional, like that lovely French color that you often use on the shutters. Of course that’s just an opinion. 😊 thanks for a little flashback, reminder of how far you have come….
Everything looks great! I'm in Florida watching the hurricane go by!😮😮
Ed & Anna
Looking great. I would leave the wood as is. It give the outside a good feel.
James
I agree with everyone else about osmo or varnish for the wood.
Gloss outside will bounce light around and not look to good. Satin better
Rest up Ed, great job.
Looks great.
It's expected for the drain . We'll done splits on the tile, looks nice.
seeing your vision come alive i don't know how your mind works edd but by golly it's good .Painting the ceiling white i agree with it will keep it lovely and light ♥️
