you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
Laptop grade components are still some way off until we can sort out power consumption...until we figure out the battery tech.. there won't be parity.. unless u are fine lugging around a phone with a 6 hour battery life that is
Gary you should do a video on Antennae design. How we have come from the the little pullout antennae in the 90's to the totally concealed fractal designs today that can handle Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, GSM and CDMA signals.
Hey Gary, I have a request. Could you explain how mobile hot spots on smartphones work? How do they differ from public or home wifi? What's the difference between bluetooth tethering and just turning on the wifi hotspot? Very curious.
Thanks that was interesting, nice to get a video on the technical side of the phone, not to keen on a lot of Android Authority output, but Garry's output is the stuff I like to see
As always quality video. I have a question though.... why are modern smartphone lacking the ability to tune in to fm radio when they have a perfectly good FM receiver within the system on a chip module
I love the video, I'm very glad I finally have a video to show people about the different components in a phone. However I feel like you REALLY rushed through details after mentioning the Camera Sensors. I'd appreciate it if you guys focused on Audio
Is it a broken phone on the pics??. Because the pic at 3:25 has a messed up resistor or capacitor on the top right of the pic it's nearly touching the other one next to it..
Saw the "malpositioned" component and wondered if anyone else noticed it. Good Catch. It would seem like it was just soldered on skew (In manufacturing). Does not say much for the brand of phone but I guess these things happen sometimes 🤷🤷🤷
I need to ask u a question Gary i wondered about it so... If i underclock my snapdragon 820 or any cpu for the matter ik itll reduce the heat but what about the voltage? ... How much effect would it have on battery life.? . If i deactivate the cores and leave one on how much more efficient will it b in saving battery? .. Is there a limit to how low voltage it can take?.. And what about undervolting?.. Is it bad and dangerous(ik ull have to lower the frequency)?.. And how high can a snapdragon 820 b overclocked if it can?..I was wondering if it can b overclocked and perform just like the 821 without having to buy a phone with an 821.. Thx in advance
My question is that is there a specific card inside the mobile that holds the internal storage, if yes (obviously) what's the name and can you remove it and put a higher GB one? Pls answer!
That greatly depends on the phone you have. Some phones have a micro SD card slot. If yours does, you can install a micro SD card for more storage. This doesn't replace the internal storage chip (called the NAND flash chip), but the SD card will appear as another storage device in the phone. External storage has slowly been fading away over the past several years so not that many phones still have it. If it does, it will be mentioned in its specifications.
Do the new phones have usb 2, 3 or 3.1? I see that some are using a type c connector but the manufacturers aren't pointing out which protocol they are using.
This is very informative for us, as we have basic known to software or hardware of a smartphone or a computer. It's actually a self study for me. Way to go...
well Sir, funny you should only mention audio in the last minute leaving it for last despite the fact that we're talking about PHONES here lol..Great Video, thank you very much.
What about microphone🎤, gyroscope📱, accelerometer, RGB LED🔴 (for notification), touch screen📲, thermometer☁, IR port, flashlight🔦, proximity sensor🚨, barometer⛅🔥, ambient light sensor, fingerprint scanner👈 and much more.Nope. This is not Gary. It is either his evil twin👻 or something we need to know....😵😵😰😨 😜
Should talk about network bands next.....most people don't know about and it's very important.....especially if you're traveler usually cheaper phone slack off on that.....like one plus.....
Sir I need your help again ! Please ! So here's the whole scenario about what happened.. I dropped my phone accidentally in my classroom from my lap and then it got switched off automatically and I wasn't able to turn it on.. After reaching home I tried charging it but it just showed a flickering screen with the charging logo.. I also tried plugging it into my laptop using usb but still the same thing.. one thing high I realised was that it might be not able to receive constant power supply due to some reason coz of which it's not able to start.. My question is.. What do you think sir shall I change the whole display assembly or their's some fault in the motherboard ?? Please help sir !! Regards, Kanha Dubey
My friend gave her LavaZ41 mobile to a service centre and later she found that mobile functions that she's using are not same before she gave her mobile to service centre. She's thinking that the shop owner may changed her LavaZ41 mobile Cpu and Middle panel to old LavaZ41 mobile. But IMEI number is same and also she noticed that there's a memory card in the mobile after mobile servicing. But she didn't gave her mobile for servicing with the memory card. That's why i'm asking you please tell me Is it possible to change LavaZ41 mobile Cpu and Middle panel to another LavaZ41 mobile?
Can you make a video explaining the difference between Qualcomm, Adreno, Snapdragon, Cortex, ARM, etc. Every review of a phone mentions them, but nobody explains what they are and why we should know these things.
I have a galaxy s10+ and got thrown against the wall really hard that it was hanging out of the case and has a slight bend on the battery side of the phone, can there be internal damage to the motherboard or anything like that??
I wrote this a couple of years ago, but I think it will be a good starting place: www.androidauthority.com/arm-vs-x86-key-differences-explained-568718/

Hey, what if I were to start a smartphone company. So what do you think, will be the basics that I should consider before entering this field. (On the basis of Hardware | Design | Market | Competition). Loved your video BTW. !!
1:39 Was that an attack on Apple and their choice to remove the headphone port starting with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus? Well, from what I hear, Android based phones are also going to be doing that soon.
Man when you go through them all, it really feels quite impressive that even the cheapest phones fit all this inside :o
The engineers who have made this complex technology available deserve more recognition than what they get
thumbs up for Gary 👍
Thanks Gary, could you also explain how image sensors capture light and process it to create images.
you kinda just explained it lol

No one can explain better than Gary
I REALLY liked this video which made me understand so much in a super simple way. Thank you so much to Mr. Gary & to Android Authority for this video.
no one explains like You Gary!!! 😊👍👌
Gary in Android Authority is like Gandalf in The Fellowship of the Ring
Seeing that laptops are getting thinner and smaller, and phones are getting larger, how close are we to using laptop grade components in phones?
nozz nozz phones are really not getting larger, they haven't since late 2014.
We are already using them in our smartphones. The SD 820/821 is as powerful as modern computers.
nozz nozz nah a phone I getting close to a 2003 PC or older because we still can barley run half life 2
Laptop grade components are still some way off until we can sort out power consumption...until we figure out the battery tech.. there won't be parity.. unless u are fine lugging around a phone with a 6 hour battery life that is
microsoft has already collaborated with qualcomm to bring full windows 10 os to snapdragon chips

I agree with you. It is also the step to be environment friendly........👍👍👍
Thank You Mr. Sims, I appreciate the detail and simplicity you are able to convey. Look foward to the next episode of let me explain.
Hey Gary, I have a request.
Could you explain how mobile hot spots on smartphones work? How do they differ from public or home wifi? What's the difference between bluetooth tethering and just turning on the wifi hotspot? Very curious.
Hey Gary I am a newbie nerd / geek wannabe .. All the attitude of Sheldon without the knowledge .. thanks for the clear & concise explanations ..
Thanks Gary and your team. This is a great presentation
Great video! You managed to pack in so much info without it being too much to take.
Thanks :)
You're a genius! Super helpful! Love it. Thank you.
A great informative video as usual. Good one Mr. Garry

this channel is so important for everyone, unless you have limitless fortune to spend on smartphone
I used this video for language learning purposes. OK, OK, not only that, the info was great and Gary is awesome! :P
This Video deserves a big support
And What about the ir blaster?
Don't get why it's not a thing...
Our phones are filled with precious metals... guys they deserve respect xD.
Did you use a guitar pick to remove battery?
Hello, What do the steal plates that covers the processor and chipset? Are they for heat absobe?
Yes it's to dissipate heat
Gary would be a good school teacher that I wouldn't shine my watch in his face during a sunny day like I loved to do at my geography teacher ☺
As always quality video. I have a question though.... why are modern smartphone lacking the ability to tune in to fm radio when they have a perfectly good FM receiver within the system on a chip module
You should do a follow up video covering phone sensors, such as proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, barometer....
Smartphones do not have barometers at all

hey Garry why are storage options always on the multiple of 16?
varun niraj Binary system
varun niraj It's always a power of two actually, because computers use the binary system. That's really all there is to it.
