The handle part number he used is for cars without smart keys that don't have a small button in the handle. If your R has keyless access with a black button in the handle, the correct handle is over $300.
Great job!!! I have 2 questions for you. I have a 2021 red hatch(sport touring) and want to change the color of my handles to black, to add to the black accents throughout the vehicle. My questions are will I be able to order black handles with the lock button and will replacing my handles with a different color affect the keyless entry when I touch the handles??
Yes you can buy black handles from honda which already come painted in the Honda black and just swap them out with yours. As far as the keyless entry button goes, I dont have that on my car but I would imagine that it would still work perfectly fine since its just a simple plug and play type of thing.
I'm in the process of changing to black handles as well. They can be ordered through Honda, they will cost more. I've changed my mirror covers to black and they were purchased from Honda.
Yes the exact same way and yes the front and rear handles are exactly the same. Only difference is there are left side handles and right side handles, meaning driver side and passenger side.
Just goggle the part number and sites that sell it will pop up. Also all 10th gen civic door handles are the same so just look for the color. No need to try and search for hatchback specifically.
That NO. Driver side is different from passenger sides. Only ones that are the same is driver front is same as driver rear and passenger front is same as passenger rear. Only handle that can be different from all others is driver door if you have the small button on the handle to lock the car.
@@kizzahfc1963 Depends on the cars features. If you have keyless entry then YES door panel needs to come off but only for driver door and thats because that door handle has a button on it to lock the car so u need to remove that door panel to unplug the wires for that button.
my back left door handle bolt will not come out I even tried a magnet. IDK what to do. Can I remove door panel and pus it out from inside ? anyone else experiencing this issue ?
That's odd, it's supposed to come right out. U can try going through the door panel. Not sure if that'll work but its worth a try. Or maybe try grabbing it with some long plyers.
@@MoisesEmpire Yea that was my other thought was removing the door panel yea idk the bolt goes into a plastic grooved piece maybe its stripped idk. all others ive wrapped fine but I just cant get that bolt out now lol long pliers sounds sketchy
@@MoisesEmpire Yea i removed the door panel and cannot access it that way the only way to do it that way would probably to remove the whole handle and mechanism with spring ect from the door which i'm sure is a crazy process. @@MoisesEmpire good idea maybe ill jam something in there lol the crazy part is the door is already wrapped so i need to be careful with heat because if not i can mess up the door and then i need to re wrap the door and take it to remove the handle at the point regardless lol
@@hondamanvtec2894 I agree but apparently honda made the paint on these civics really thin so they chip and crack easy. Ive asked around and alot of people are having the same issue on different parts of their car.

Had the exact same issue on my 18 sport hatch. Driver side handle. Used this video to replace it with ease, thanks!

Is the installation the same for the passenger side I’m having the same issue with my civic
Yes. Just the 1 bolt and slide out the handle.
Is it basically the same for the rear door handles, and is it the same part?
Yes the exact same way and yes the front and rear handles are exactly the same. Only difference is there are left side handles and right side handles, meaning driver side and passenger side.

So you don’t need to take or the door card to remove handle?

I have this exact problem
Except mine is also peeling above the key slot… probably a bit more pricey 😂
Lol dang cheap honda paint
Who has lost the 10mm bolt inside the door? I’m just asking to weigh the odds 😅
Lol just be careful. But u can get it out if you drop it, just gonna suck cuz you'll have to take off door panel.
How’s the weather where you live? Maybe it’s affecting your paint
Im in Florida so maybe the heat of the sun.
Should not matter with that new of a car
