    Supercharge is quite nice when you're playing coop, as a buddy can usually cover you while you one-shot the teleporter boss. That being said, Cryocharge is very good in singleplayer runs.

  • @aidangreen7711
    @aidangreen7711 2 роки тому +457

    I like Supercharge better. Cryocharge is good for Mithrix, but it can't freeze normal bosses and the damage is comparatively very underwhelming. I suppose it can be used for mobility, but I find that mines + a bit of movement speed is generally good enough for me. Plus, landing that weak point Supercharge with a couple of crowbars and watching a boss's healthbar just dissapear is very satisfying.

    • @Rc3651
      @Rc3651 2 роки тому +22

      I'm also leaning towards supercharge, but the cryocharge might be good for freezing and executing a mass of enemies. Since I think the shots are a lot wider, so they'd hit a big clump. I wasn't paying attention to it at all when I first used the ability though haha

      I still strongly prefer Cryocharge as my main issue with Super is the 5 seconds you don't get to deal damage, which is a long time and early on is a big deal. Basically cryo is more consistent and safe for less damage (though it still chunks). Same thing with the two secondaries, short range scope allows for more consistent damage at the cost of dealing less damage per shot.

      Supercharge synergies soooo well with a Ukelele, as the 3.0 proc rate makes it so the ukulele has a 75% proc chance if i'm not mistaken (and I don't think I am with my testing). The extremely high damage and Piercing ability makes it so you can OS very large and wide groups of ennemies. There's no need to shoot in the next few seconds when there's nothing to shoot at.

    one very useful tip ive found that im surprised wasnt covered is how useful her special is for clearing hordes of enemies when they form a conga line. quite often when i try sniping these conga lines normally, it takes quite a few shots. there seems to be a bit of damage falloff with piercing large amounts of enemies at once. several times ive sniped enemies in a conga line that normally would be 1-tapped even if i didnt hit the weakspot and they will only loose about half their hp.
    however, if i use my spec, this doesnt occur, dealing the maximum damage to everything as well as being a wide horizontal cylinder of damage instead of a thin beam, which results in obliterating anything thats in the general direction of your shot and not just what your crosshairs are directing pointing at

    Given that you can still use your mines during the post-Supercharge cooldown, and that it scales with attack speed, I have found that Supercharge is far superior. Waiting for a few seconds to start killing shit again is not a big deal. The only major benefit to Cryocharge is that it synergizes much better with the new Lysate cells.

    I would like to add to the Railgunner pool of knowledge!
    If you're on the fence on whether you should take ATGs or Plasma Shrimps on the Railgunner, here are my two cents on it:
    It all comes down to Supercharge: enemies are not supposed to survive it. If they survive it, they will have very little health remaining most of the time.
    While the ATG can potentially make some of the highest numbers you've seen in this game if it procs on Supercharge, you're betting on a 30% chance of that happening.
    If it doesn't come out, you're stuck without Supercharge and with an enemy to kill. That's bad.
    With the Plasma Shrimp, while it is much weaker, it's still being based off an incredibly strong attack: you don't really *need* it to be stronger than it is. That'd just be overkill.
    With 2 or 3 stacks it pretty much acts as a guaranteed double hit of Supercharge (as long as shield is up) which is more than enough to kill most things in this game.
    Thoughts?

    4:59 the 15 second cool down does not start until the weapon recharges; So the cool down is 5 secs (by attack speed) + 15 (normal cool down), so without items, your firing this every 20 secs at most. The freeze shot is just a normal 15 sec cooldown.
    On terms of back up mags, its good for fodder clearing. Yea the boosted shot is only for the first target but chain shooting before reloading can quickly get your pred stacks up and you can just unzoom and force the reload

      Yup, both specials start their cooldown when you start charging them, but Super's system reboot resets it when you fire. So realistically, Cryo has a 15s total CD, or 13s after firing, while Super has a 22s total CD, or 20s after firing.

    • @swift4010
      @swift4010 2 роки тому

      I agree with the backup mags, when you're trying to shoot something that's really mobile, you usually don't actually need the extra damage from a perfect reload, and being able to spam a couple shots until you hit the target can be life saving

  • @kusanagi3579
    @kusanagi3579 2 роки тому +13

    I think an important thing to note is how Supercharge is really good at eliminating key targets which in turn gives you time to take out smaller ones since you don't have to worry about the big one anymore. Supercharge does an absolute fuckton of damage and you can usually 1-2 shot bosses with it fairly easily so it really comes down to preference of whether you want the versatility of Cryocharge or if you want the raw boss killing potential of Supercharge.

    • @pixxlated_
      @pixxlated_ 2 роки тому +1

      1 crowbar though makes her alt M2 do nearly the same exact damage as Supercharge, just without a 15 second cooldown that ONLY starts cooling down when she recovers from the shot. Supercharge just isn't good comparatively, and the freeze mechanic scales much better, as they die once they reach a certain percentage (30%, which is a LOT of health later on) of health rather than a flat HP value. Cryocharge is just objectively better.

    • @kusanagi3579
      @kusanagi3579 2 роки тому +7

      @@pixxlated_ 1 crowbar also makes supercharge do more damage too you know. Freeze also doesn't work on bosses which is a pretty important distinction to make. Cryocharge is better in more scenarios and more versatile but as I mentioned you can't discount Supercharge's raw boss killing power as that can make fights easier by virtue of not having to deal with the bosses anymore.
      Maybe in singleplayer Cryocharge is the more consistent choice(although I've had a lot of solo Monsoon success with Supercharge) but in multiplayer I'd argue Supercharge is much stronger since you have teamates to help cover the weakness.

    Something fun to know for Railgunner when doing Eclipse (or just the game in general), is that if you pick Cryocharge, it can freeze Mithrix, allowing for some execute mechanics AND it can cancel attacks, such as the spinning fire columns. Pair this with a Lysate Cell, Alien Head or Purity, it allows for a pretty easy Mithrix fight, and if you get enough cooldown reduction, you can stunlock Mithrix, PERMANANTLY.

  • @jaredschneider9662
    @jaredschneider9662 2 роки тому +9

    I've found that in my runs Supercharge is superior as it just allows me to get that higher damage output sooner. Cryocharge for mobility is rather neat, but I've found that the Mines give you the benefit of adding your momentum when they knock you around. Assuming you have a feather or quail (which is almost always something you want regardless) and the attack speed to levitate enough with your primary that Cryocharge isn't necessary for mobility. Given that the cooldown and charge up periods on Railgunner are affected by attack speed, I think Supercharge is just better for the far higher damage output it offers.
    I also think that Backup Magazines are honestly underrated on Railgunner. You miss out on that bonus damage but if your attack speed is high enough you can fire so many high damage shots that it makes the alt version of the sniper rather redundant.
    Regardless though, there doesn't seem to be much of a "correct" way to play her, given how strong she is. All her options feel good to use.

  • @deathdiamond15
    @deathdiamond15 2 роки тому +18

    A few more things I learned when playing Railgunner:
    Bustling Fungus is not very good unless you are trying to collect for the Weeping Fungus void item. This is only because all attacks from the Railgunner cause you to move a very small amount, even if you are standing completely still, causing the Bustling Fungus to disappear and only reappear once you stop moving. In a harder run, you most likely wont even get the chance to stand still, but if you're starting a run and trying to camp a boss from the other side of the map with the fungus, you most likely wont get any healing when sniping.
    Despite the Lost Seer's Lenses effect on your crit damage, if you have just a few of them a high enough fire rate, you can just use the "Primary" because of the tracing. I got a really good run with this method because of a little luck and an early Lost Seer's Lenses

    For me, stacking few backup magazines is a great idea for Railgunner. While consecutive shots won't benefit from perfect reload damage bonus, you still amplify the number of damage/targets you can shoot at before reloading. This helps Railgunner to sustain more DPS in a short period of time. (this is most important when the enemies are frozen from cyrofreeze, where you need to reach 30% threshold in a short period of time) Also, with backup mag, you can more reliably utilise predatory instinct and harvester scythe. Without it, you can only get 8 measly healing and one single stack of instinct. But if you have backup mag, you can multiply the healing and stack you can acquire before reloading (and resets the instinct stack).

    • @Drummerx04
      @Drummerx04 2 роки тому +5

      Agreed. As long as you have enough attack speed to fire at least 3 rounds before reloading and firing again, you'll come out ahead on damage overall by using a few backup mags. Reloading then refreshes all backup mags, so you can dish out rather extreme bursts of damage.
      Also the alternate M2 apparently cannot use Backup Mags from what I've seen.

    Although I (and everyone else) prefer the default shift to the slowing one, it should be noted that the slow one is pretttttyyy busted. It doesn’t just slow enemies, it slows PROJECTILES too. It basically gives you bullet time except you move at full speed which makes their attacks trivial. Not to mention enemies outside the field move slower than those in it, so they will all clump up for easy aoe. Compare this to the default’s tendency to spread enemies APART and you can see the difference in playstyle they can both lend themselves to.
    Basically it makes you immune to anything that isn’t melee, and THOSE enemies get slowed. Another thing: the slow from the device isn’t Chronobauble’s cringe 60% slow, but the chad 80% slow from the likes of Runald’s Band and Elite enemies. This means it counts separately for death mark, and also is 33% stronger than chronobauble, not to mention the slow doesn’t go away in 2 seconds. So basically it’s engineer bubble shield but with melee protection and a debuff built in. Tbh I don’t find it as fun as default, but realistically it’s probably the better (albeit less fun) option. In the long run you’ll probably get enough mobility to render the concussion devices’ mobility obsolete (outside of afterburner but do you really need that), and the M1 hover and kickback from cyrocharge are definitely good enough movement tools for early and late game.
    Don’t ignore a skill because you don’t find it fun.

      The higher your attack speed, the faster the reload bar goes, so to compensate that and make attack speed not punish you by missing an active reload, the effective range inside the bar is wider. So this means syringes, predatory instincts, and pauldron also widen the bar, while light-flux pauldron (new lunar) narrow it (and make the bar take longer to move)

    It is worth mentioning that if you take any of the 'heresy' lunar items, these are not affected by the 5 second cooldown period supercharge provides. So visions of heresy will allow you to continue shooting while your m2 scoped attack reboots. The same works well for strides of heresy as the utility skill which replaces the mines, it also does not get the 5 second reboot so keeps your options open after firing

  • @tomkershaw9852

    strongly recommend using vision and strides of heresy. lose mobility but increase survivability massively. if you bring super charge you can sill shoot vision off heresy while cooling down. strides of heresy is amazing once you already have a couple hopoo feathers and speed boosts. it also allows the railguner go to void fields and not die between the void cells. I say vison of heresy is essential and always pick it up. and strides are a bit more situational but I still pick them up most runs. they help a lot early game for the heals (especially on monsoon)

    as i have experimented around with Railgunner myself. i can say that Void Will-o-Wisps are another key item to consider it a good run. 1 because they will proc the crowbar damage buff since they happen at the beginning and 2 because of the early shot damage. simply for the fact that it happens at the start of a health bar instead of the end makes it very important to rail gunner in my opinion. the Void Ukulele is a situational item. again on her the key is single target damage so she makes great use of this. but having regular Ukulele helps her add clear something fierce as well.

    Supercharge is REALLY good, that 3.0 makes a Uke nearly guaranteed to proc so shooting just a few enemies will destroy crowds of enemies with ease
    not to mention the fact it does nearly 3x the amount a Cryocharge can, 2000% base + 500% perfect reload x 2 (crit) = 5000% while Supercharge is 4000% base + 500% perfect reload x 2 (crit) x 1.5 (weakspot bonus) = 13500%

    Supercharge vs Cryocharge I find is just a difference on when you want to use them. If your goal is to oneshot a boss, then Supercharge is your go-to friend. If you want to control the area a bit better, then kite and run Cryocharge down a conga line. Also, if for whatever reason you decided to grab the Heresy Primary or Secondary (rip run if you do the latter), they don't go on cooldown during Supercharge, meaning Visions has some real synergy with Supercharge, though I find it to be just a worse version of her primary otherwise. Also her M99 fires 9 shots of Visions for whatever reason, which feels like a bug to me.

    Id argue at least having a few mags can maybe help- but only when dealing with lots of boss enemies at once. With enough attack speed you can fire off way more rounds than you would usually which could outdue the extra 500% since. There may be something I'm not accounting for but I did a quick test with 15 syringes and 5 total shots. For this I started the second I began zooming in and ended once I finished reloading the last round. If you reload without shooting all rounds it comes out to about 7500% every 5 seconds or 1500% per second. However when shooting without reloading until the final 5th shot it came out to around 5500% about every 2.5 seconds- whichmeans 2200% per second. Still it makes sense why this wouldn't be desired as its usage is niche

    The info at 7:02 makes it sound like the second mine needs to actually come into contact with a terrain surface for the first to explode when, in reality, it just needs to be thrown out but I know that you were probably referring to the fact you need at least 2 charges of the skill instead of it acting like some form of trigger.
    Sidenote: the Railgunner's concussion devices work just as well in the air, making Hardlight Afterburners cause complete chaos in a godrun. Plus, the momentum sorta multiplies the more you have to instantly detonate.
    Seriously, I don't think there's a faster way to hit the skybox.

    2:40 actually if you are a little bit sick in the head you can do one neat trick with backup magazines and a little bit of attack speed, and by that i mean that you can (m2) shoot your first shot (m1), unscope for a brief moment, the reload mechanic will pop up but if you are fast enough you can m2 again shoot (m1), then perfect reload and repeat. But you need to be rly good at timing this to make an use of that interaction.

    One thing to note is that while the Backup Mag is good for the default Sniper as it allows you multiple shots before needing to reload, using that item with the alternate sniper, the Marksman is useless since it doesn't have a reload. So avoid picking it up or scrap it if you use the Marksman.

    if you manage to get a lot of attack speed buffs like syrninges, coffee, etc, the backup mags are definatly better than without. I had a run where was struggling with movement speed on stage 5 but there was a coffee printer so I printed 14 coffees mainly for the movement speed increase, however I noticed it made the rail gun shoot much faster with my single backup mag I had. Against mythrix, I was able to fire the back up mag shots about as fast as his other weapon.

    A lot of people saying they think Supercharge is the way to go. Just wanted to point out that while Cryocharge does about only half the damage, it also cools down immediately. The shot itself takes about 2-3 seconds (already starting recharge) and there is no weapon cooldown. Realistically, it's about a 12-13 second window before you can fire again, counting that little bit of time firing. The Supercharge takes (it seems like) the same amount of time to fire, 2-3 seconds, THEN adds another 5 second cooldown which takes away your ability to damage enemies almost entirely, and then finally does the 15 second cooldown. This means that Supercharge takes about 22-23 seconds to let you fire another one, as apposed to 12-13. Additionally, using supercharge on a horde of enemies is sometimes a run-ender if you don't manage to get everything at once. Wiped out a bunch of beetle guards and fodder right in front of you? Too bad there were 9 wisps in the sky right behind you, you can't shoot them.
    I agree Supercharge is better at purely one-shotting the teleporter boss and other random boss spawns, which are huge threats, but I'd argue Cryocharge is better 99% of the time otherwise. It may not do as much damage but it can almost fire twice as many times as the Supercharge--without the dramatic downside of not being able to use any weapons. They both scale better with attack speed, and while its more important on Supercharge for sure, Cryocharge also gets the speed boost in case you wanted to argue late-run effectiveness. I think if Woolie emphasized the drastic amount of time between shot differential a lot of you guys would think Cryocharge is also usually the way to go. Lastly, Cryocharge's freeze affect (which works on virtually every enemy) ALSO has a built in Guillotine effect that works on any enemy you freeze and don't one shot, (LEGIT 30% of their healthbar) and doing enough damage to reach that threshold instantly kills any frozen enemy before they thaw, just like Guillotines on elites. Plus, the entire time they're frozen they cannot hurt you. This helps compensate both for its overall lower damage and inability to one-shot. Supercharge definitely isn't trash at all though and I love that instant dopamine of turning a giant red healthbar to nothing in one click, but I really think Cryocharge is way better and that's why Woolie said so, alongside the little bit of movement benefit he mentioned. Not that this was a loadout video, though, so maybe he'll go more in-depth at a later time.

Attack speed doesn’t scale much at all with cyrocharge. Also, if you combine attack speed with lysate cells, you can kill bosses left and right with a flick shot. I played her since the DLC came out and I played A LOT after it did.
    What I noticed with her is in the early game it is important to get mobility items (Goat Hoof,Energy Drink, Whip)
    as much as it seems like the Mobility skill is enough, it makes you lose time while making the arc.
    Since you already have the damage to deal with almost all enemies at the early stage but you are slow,
    to compensate it I found out that getting these movement speed items in early game will make a better chance for a GOD-RUN.

    A few important things that were not covered:
    With Attack Speed HH44 will flat outpace M99 in DPS very quickly.
    Crit Glasses boost less then any damage boosting item as it is 10% on crit while others boost 20% off crit 40% on crit. This means you need 11 Watches/Focus/AP for Glasses to be better and 11 Crowbars for Glasses to be better. This is even more important for the M99 as it is much more focused about 1-shotting so Crowbars synergize really well.
    The mines with Hardlight Afterburner can be thrown behind you to let you travel across map faster then any character can in any direction.
    Lastly Cryo Charge having a lack of locking your weapons actually gives it more raw power in HH44 runs.
    M99 is best for quick concise runs, HH44 is best for long runs or those who have trouble with certain enemy types.

    Tbf I personally prefer running full stock for rail gunner over her special alt. Personally with all the runs I have done mobility has never been an issue, next to this I think the cool down on attacks doesn’t really matter if you can just kill them anyways with one high damaging shot. I have noticed though that without extra boss dmg and or crowbars it does get out shined latter in runs by her alt for the no cool down, but In this situation you (or rng jesus) would have probably spect into being more tanky or speedy (unless you didn't), so you’ll be able to survive the cool down or just be able to run away from the enemies respectively.
    I do see the uses in her alt, I just prefer her default
    one thing the items that synergise well with rail gunner segment missed personally was to mention Lysate Cell, and how broken it is. It essentially reduces your default specials cool down to the wait time, and alt wont have one (meaning big boy dmg 2,3,4 or even 5 times in a row)
    off course I am but a baby player and have not spent the amount of time you have in the game, so take all my opinions with a large grain of salt.

    From my experience cryocharge tends to be better in sim, while supercharge is better in normal gameplay. in sim, you’re in a closed up area with essentially no way out, and large hordes of tougher-than-normal enemies. being able to use your primary and m2 is super important when you literally can’t get away, and the execution from freezing helps with crowd control. On the other hand, in normal gameplay, supercharge (if used correctly) is a one click boss erasure tool. it also can hit in a small aoe. I do find that the effectiveness/ consistency of both seem to decrease as the game goes on, where even the absolutely colossal damage they deal can sometimes leave a boss at 50% or more health with a shot. it’s really annoying honestly it makes me feel like it’s a waste to use

    When I'm playing I'll always take the Cryocharger with the M99, as with the M99 I feel far less competent taking care of closer clumps of enemies, and I find that the M99 itself bulks damage enough for bosses to not need Supercharger. Though when I'm using the Marksman (which I usually do) I always take the Supercharger, it gives you important damage to just completely chunk enemies that you need dead *now*, and is also very handy at taking out huge trains of trash. The slow field is kinda throwing ngl.
    Also I noticed you said that you can't crit without being zoomed in, but this isn't true, Supercharger (Not sure about Cryocharger) can actually hit enemy weak points while not being zoomed in, which isn't entirely practical, but still fun and handy to know. I didn't even think about using her M1 for mobility during mine hopping, so thanks for tipping me off to it!.

    EDIT: Interesting, so everything I described below is reproducible BUT apparently this ONLY works with the SUCCESSFUL active reload. If you miss the fast reload with this method you actually have to un-scope again to get another shot. But you do reload instantly after that, I guess since the bar already filled up already it doesn't make you wait again which is nice.
    I just discovered your channel after giving ROR2 for a while until the recent DLC. I've been binging your library for tips and strats and I decided to revisit this one with a pretty interesting discovery with railgunner (though I'm probably far from the first to make it) I just noticed:
    So I'm playing on a gamepad and in my haste alternating between sniper shots and reloading I noticed that when I hit and hold the scope button (you'd call it M2 but again I'm using a pad) **immediately** after releasing it after firing the sniper I get the scope again ~along with~ the active reload bar and can still reload and shoot the next shot like normal.
    After getting it accidentally I got this to reliably work after messing around. I haven't tried it on K+M yet but I'm guessing it would work too 🤔 The only restriction seems to be just how fast you can release and hold again. If I delayed by more than a split second I was locked out of scoping again until the reload was done. Which we all understand is "normal".
    This was huge because it let me line up my next shot way quicker while I was reloading. I figured if I posted it here it might get picked up by you or anybody else who's been enjoying the new DLC (and hopefully not patched out). Happy sniping!

    In my opinion, trying to secure a couple Hardlight Afterburners is also a great idea, giving you even more momentum to work with. Since you gain more charges for your mines, you get to detonate them in the same way you normally do, one after the other, but with 3 or 4 mines, you can get out of literally ANY situation quickly. Pairing those with hopoo feathers, or any way you can negate fall damage also helps exponentially. One run I had, my friends had died fighting the Alloy Worship Unit, and I got the kill, along with 4 total Hardlight Afterburners. 10 mines in my pockets, and an insatiable need for speed did wonders for me.
