- Testing out the new Behringer Spring Reverb 636 with a Gibson Custom Shop 1958 Les Paul. I'm running into the guitar input of the 636 into the front end of my Friedman Little Sister (set to mostly clean). I recorded direct via a TwoNotes Captor X. The 636 can get some cool overdrive when you push the output level. Some light UAD FX compression, EQ, and tape sim added in post.
Great demo, thanks! Stoked to get one.
Thanks for checking it out!
This is the best demo of this unit for guitar - thanks for taking the time to put it together! How much does the unit colour the guitar's signal? Like, with reverb off, and gain/volume at unity, how much colour is being added to the core tone of the guitar and amp? Cheers! 😊
Thank you! I don't feel like it colors it too much, until you pump up the gain on the unit. I have never noticed any big difference in tone when it's off vs. on - but I'm a middle aged and don't hear high frequencies as well as I did when I was younger. It doesn't feel like it's muffling tone or anything.
@@ChristopherGwinn Great, thanks for the info, that's really helpful 😊 I'm torn between one of these or spending £63 more to get a Surfybear Metal... Obviously completely different units but I could integrate either very easily into my rig and get tones I'd be very happy with from both too, I reckon...
@@MarkB.Guitar I've never played a Surfybear but it sounds good from the demos I've watched on YT. If you're only going to use it on guitar, that might be a better fit for you.
Looks great
It's pretty cool - works well with synths, too.
Nice looking unit and sounds good but lacks the Fender splash we surfers are looking for.
It's a little darker than some other spring reverbs - but I might not have been emphasizing the drip with the way I had my amp set and by using a Les Paul. I'll have to try another version with my Strat running through a Fender-style amp.
That's kinda the point.
Well, it’s based on a Grampian unit, not a Fender, so surf sounds are not what they’re going after. These are known for their overdrive circuit, which is something the Fenders don’t do.
Awesome thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking it out!
Interesting that you have yours; I bought one ASAP after the announcement via Andertons in the UK and there's been no sign of it yet.
I notice yours is still a 636 too. Here in the UK they got changed to "646". Curiouser and curiouser!
I was told by my Sweetwater rep that I was one of the first people to preorder it - got my order in within minutes of Behringer announcing it on Facebook. Usually Europe gets the initial shipments of Behringer gear, but I guess this time the USA got the first shipment.
Its getting harder to talk shit about behringer.
They're a good value for the money.
@@ChristopherGwinn I have a model D for a mono bass synth and I'm loving the thing
@@Hello-pl2qe Nice! I have a Model D as well (and used to have a Poly D - gifted it to my brother).
@ChristopherGwinn I wanted the polyd but it's out of stock every where for a while. How would you rate it out of 10? I think the next thing I get I'd like it to be able to save some presets
@@Hello-pl2qe The Poly D is essentially the same as Model D but with some cool additions, like an extra oscillator (giving you up to 4 note paraphony, so you can play chords) and a basic sequencer, plus hold note and arpeggiator functions. If you like the Model D, you are sure to like the Poly D. I'd like to get another Poly D one these days. I don't think any of the Behringer mono synths have patch memory, but their poly synths like the Deep Mind, Pro-800 and UB-Xa do.
sounds gooood . guitar out to Behringer _Aux input which one ? 1M ohm or 50k omh? thanks
The manual recommends the 10 mV/50 K ohm input for guitar - I'm pretty sure that's what I used here.
@@ChristopherGwinn thanks!
Are they shipping now?
Yes, but retailers are probably still filling preorders (like mine) from the first batch that they received from Behringer.
@@ChristopherGwinn awesome thanks!
@@ChristopherGwinn I talked to Sweetwater. The first two shipments are sold out. The third should arrive in June-July, but it may be even later as Behringer struggles to keep up with demand. Better get your order in.
