Sweet sweet playing. I’ve seen you do 50 interviews John but never heard you play. Nothing in your rhetoric during the interviews suggests how accomplished you are as a player. Very, very, very refreshing. And, in some convoluted way is points to why your interviews are so insightful.
My dad was a Nashville Pro (steel picker) and used Gibson amps in the 1950's. When he went to pedal steel, like most steel guys he needed something more powerful, so it was a Twin with a different transformer and a 15 inch JBL D130. Fortunately, Peavey blew all that old not reliable stuff out of the water, with the Session 400. But he did use the old Gibson with his 1955 Fender triple neck, when ever he had a western swing gig. I'm glad to see Gibson back in the game. Of course John could make anything sound good.
Having had the opportunity to have Mr Bollinger not only play on my last CD, but to meet him and be able to play that gold Les Paul, and now to hear it through these incredible Gibson reissues, well, let's just say my mind is blown. Once again John it's an honor to hear you play you make these amps sound great!
Strange I have watched you on several interviews but never heard you play. Great demo with mighty fine playing. Great to see Gibson coming back even if it's with the help of Mesa Bogie.
They can't be bad if Randall Smith was involved in their design. But, seeing as how I only play clean, I will be ordering a Princeton style amp with an added midrange control.
I believe this is just a repackaged California Tweed 2:20. Check all the specs and compare videos. The Cali Tweed has a front panel...clear winner for me!
awesome.......ive got 4 amps...all Gibsons.....the Falcon 20 would give me 5....yeah...i like the sound of that...🥰....love to hear how a tele sounds through this...
Great amps and tasty playing! I love your James Bond piece as the ride out song! They look like wonderful amps, for small clubs and recording especially. Pretty good jazzy as well as rock and blues tones.
I'm very much looking forward to trying these out. Hear what they sound like in the hands of a talentless hack as opposed someone who makes everything sound great.
My 1rst amp was Epiphone Kalamazoo some call true Gibson, God I hated losing it. I'm looking for tone-- tone that the Masters use in the studio recording sessions.... mic'd up about 3-1/2 or 4-1/2 volume, but capable of ripping at about 7 or 8... the 20 is good😎 , yet I'm hoping they'll do a 40 or 50 twin 12-in
@@johnbohlinger Wow! You know who I'm talking about right? The dude that played Cob Vanth! COULD be your brother or a cousin! A fellow Montanan was well judging by the accent! His name is Tym Olyphant.
Another reviewer just told me that this amp has printed circuit boards. Not sure who to believe. In my opinion point to point amps just sound better. Fender even now sells a point to point Princeton again. It's twice as much as their Princeton that has a printed circuit board.
@@noslen954 If you look at the listing on Gibson's site, the amp has "Hand-wired in Petaluma, CA" printed on the back. At least on the 20, but idk why the other one would be any different.
@@johngerson7335 interesting! I suppose if it were p2p they would say that and charge even more for it. The web listing says “Duo-Class wiring” which I haven’t found any info about yet.
It sounds great, but Gibson's claims that it's made in the USA and handwired is misleading. The Preamp tubes are mounted on a most likely made in China PCB. It's similar in quality to budget Peavey and Crate USA amps of the 1990"s that retailed for $300.
Gibson saw all that fender 5 and 20 watt amps selling like there's no tomorrow and jumped. But is it to little to late to make a mark? They do look and sound great though. Methinks to buy one
OK if this is true, I’m gonna definitely buy these Giibson amplifiers and I will team them up with my Giibson Firebird guitar and my Giibson Les Paul guitar man. I am so happy now I can’t believe it. Everything seems to be going good right now. Thank you so much Giibson.💰💰💰💰
Why not open one up (it’s just four screws) and show the circuit board with the preamp tubes mounted on the circuit board? That would make for a more complete review. These are highly over priced for circuit board amps.
Enjoyed the tunes mightily. At the price of those amps, there are options a-plenty including the real cheapo Monoprice 15 watt - 12" which is excellent sounding, handsome, quality valves (tubes), well made and loud-when-you-want, attenuate, gain, very decent spring reverb, send/return for your stomp boxes and in Britain goes for around £250.00 under a different name. It's basically a 70s Laney design under the hood - decent old-school soul and crankerama. All tube amps do it - that beautiful realness, the little "burr" of gain or "smash the place up" howling - Mesa and Gibson have no corner on that. Only that Fender Twins and Hi Watts are no-can-do today because of health-and-safety. North of a grand's a serious ask for what is pretty much the same thing. I don't see how the Falcons fit in at that kind of money because that "great little tube amp that you can carry to gigs without hurting yourself" vibe is up for grabs at a quarter the price or less, mail order. Anyone can have one. OK - made in USA......................................................whoopee..... Lovely playing though.
Not sure what is the point of the 5 watts if it is possible to use the 20 watts also in 1 watts or 5 watts. Maybe the 5 watts sounds better at low volume than the bigger one on a 5 watts setting but it is not apparent from the video. I know that they are not supposed to be mimicking the same old amp but still the 20 watts seems more versatile... Both sound good thought. The price seems a little off, it is probably not really well built for such a price for an amp made in the US (probably PCBs made in China and assembled in the US, with plastic connectors, hence the "hand wired" affirmation (if the tube socket are on the chassis it may be that bad, but yes Messa as the reputation of not making really well built amp, so we will have to wait and see for a tech to take it apart).
Don’t buy this garbage. Notice how every reviewer never shows the inside of the chassis? That because the construction of this amp is terrible and will lead to major problems in the future! If you really want a Falcon, buy an original for a way cheaper price!
well i love your channel always but Gibson who ive bought guitars from since 1976 has lost thier minds on these amps. 5 watt is 1499.00m 12 watt is 1799.00. hell you can buy alot of amp for that price. unreal. they want sell many of these. you can get a mesa boogie which makes these for much less.

All sounding really, really good John, amps _and_ playing. And 'Sunny' on the '54 was _outstanding._ Thanks man!
Thank you for that pretty, (clean) intro. Not expecting to hear many demos of this without them being turned all the way up.
Once again Mr. Bohlinger your playing along with the LP sell the amps better than anything else could!

John B killin it , as always. Smokin tones , son.
Well done, John. I was a little underwhelmed when the official product video came out. You completely change my mind. The sound legit, and then some.
It’s all about the lucite-style handles.
im sure the people from Mesa Engineering were in on this project...beauty tremolo by the way
Such sweet playing John! Amps sound pretty darned good
Nice tremolo on those amps! Really dig that big old Switchmaster - those old P-90s are just magic!
That trem is sick!
Need to hear it with single coils
The last guitar (Gibson ES5) has singlecoils :)
nahhhh he meant a strat or tele...thats a jazz box@@kaphillum

Very nice… always liked the old Gibson amps. Glad I watched til the end… Sunny meets 007. Very cool👍😁.
