This piece is truly something special , it's Grand Seiko stepping into the hyper horology territory and im all for it. Previously things like these were exclusive to Credor , so not purchase-able in the west.
I mean, this won’t really be available for purchase either. Even if you can take the $300k hit, its production is genuinely limited due to its complexity and the fact that only a single watchmaker crafts a Grand Seiko piece start to finish. Grand Seiko estimates they will be able to make 20 this year. But I completely agree, it’s an incredible feat of engineering. Although its timekeeping is rated for -3/+5 spd , Grand Seiko says they are seeing figures closer to +0.5 seconds per day. Insanity on a mechanical piece, especially one this complex, and with a tourbillon to boot.
@@HRM.H My point is that despite it being available in the U.S., it won’t actually be available in the U.S. You’d be lucky to travel to Asia and actually get one since they will be impossible to get no matter where you go.
Damn, the 'Kodo' constant-force tourbillon is an exceptional piece! I was always wondering when GS comes out with a true high complication watch. But doing it THIS way with such a cotemporary look yet classic finishing combined with a very special high-end complication is absolutely nuts! I truly feel the excitement guys... thanks for showing!
Thank you, Marc, as always, for the presentation! Always a pleasure to see Robert, of course! Stunning design this one. So much to love. After watching each video of Kodo coverage since release, I keep noticing more and more details. From the incorporation of the mitsudomoe design on the barrel gears, to the curved perlage emanating from the constant force tourbillon. What a treat! Thanks again for the coverage! 🙏
@@robert982 i know right. but there are still people who did say GS is just overpriced Seiko and such. quite a shame they didnt appreciate GS for its own uniqueness.
Very unique for sure but am sure they can still further improve, not so much on the movement side as to the simple feel of some of their parts such as bracelets, clasps imo
Great work Grand Seiko, the divers watch is gorgeous. I'm lucky enough to have a snowflake and their textured dials need to be seen to be believed. That diver dial locks amazing..
Wow Yes I was expecting - to know more about Grand Seiko - With a lot of curiosity Great explanation in a very short time Very good presentation and all congratulations with thanks 👍❤️👌
The Kodo is too busy looking for my taste, but as with everything that Grand Seiko does, I have to admire the attention to detail and the unrivaled artistry involved in its creation.
A very engaging and informative video. I would love to see Grand Seiko upgrade their bracelet fitment across the board, as actual wrist size fluctuates throughout the day. I believe that would also be a major step forward for the brand, especially versus the Swiss.
Es una bella pieza de micromecanica. Seiko va cada dia mejorando y casi alcanzandi el nivel de excelencia que tienen los relojes suizo. Felicidades GRAN SEIKO.
The Grand Seiko brand manager rocks with his fancy blonde hair. i didn't expect that!! he looks so young and hip; i would have confused him with the guy selling marijuana bongs down at the local fancy pot dispensary in beverly hills, rather than a seiko watch.
I am probably in a small group who is disappointed with the Kodo. A busy and small dial.....not calm like in their "landscape philosophy". Now having that stunning tourbillon on a NEW landscape design dial would be epic! Glad they are pushing the envelope! Great review and interview Marc!
What a time piece. This one has that wow Factor. The finishing is perfect the hours and minutes dial a bit small. On other note making it smaller so that way a women's version can be made is excellent. If I could get a custom made one it would be 45mm and very thick because I want to see this with a chronograph. Hey GS we all have dreams..
@@watchestv-com thank you sincerely, I actually have a couple different watch ideas, still working on them just mechanical ideas aren't that easy to figure out. Especially with our time pieces history and patents mainly
J’ai toujours préféré la collection élégance chez GS que les montres sports que je trouve trop épaisses et avec des bracelets décevants. Robert porte t’il l’Omiwatari ou la Skyflake ?
I really like the new Evolution 9 chrono, however they seems a bit bulky by looking at the specs (Diamètre 45.3mm Lug-to-lug 52.6mm Épaisseur 15.8mm). But the chrono pushers are looking way better than on the sport collection. A bit of a shame there isn't one with a white dial and there isn't a quick adjustment on the clasp. The constant-force tourbillon tho, love it!
Looking forward to the new Ginza studio pieces, they seem to have new refreshing ideas without deviate from the Grand Seiko pillars and design grammar.
Looks like they are gunning for Patek as well as Rolex. 100 percent Japanese made. Swiss only only requires 60 percent total mfg cost. That means 90 percent of the parts can be made in China. The assembly cost will cover 60 percent.
I don't want to be critical but his presentation was terrible. Mark, you could have presented these much more professionally and enthusiastically. Too much giggling. I find this with most in-house presenters. I think you Mark can and do present brands better than they do themselves. Let professionals do what professionals do.
Sorry Seiko, but "and this is the view from..." its a cheap hoax, and can't stop cracking up when i hear it! If I want the view I go to Google Earth. Come on, I can't believe this sells!?Plus 10s/Month? My Rolex does way under that ,Does that makes it better;-))) Humanity is really in trouble... Marc, thank you, you did a great job as always.
Spring Drive in practice would perform at 3 secs a month, sometimes 1 seconds a month, and in my case +0.3 second gain in 2 months and 14 days of continuous wear (Bear in mind my watch was a 2010 model that I bought from my AD in 2020 so it has an old movement and it’s performing crazy accurate). I say don’t knock it until you try it.
@@007-i6z8v You doubted the accuracy of Spring Drive in comparison against your ROLEX by saying "My ROLEX does way under that" and I’m just stating that Spring Drive is a lot more accurate. There’s a reason why ROLEX measure their accuracy performance by +/- sec per day and not monthly like Grand Seiko does.
God fricking Damn, Seiko. You have outdone yourselves. Take a bow
Nicely said and fully understand
Absolutely love GS 😍 Thanks for the interview!
You are most welcome and thanks for your comment
