  • This Mamiya RZ67 Professional had some film advance problem in the house, but it was an "easy" task.
There is a long set screw that can be screw in or out, if you look at the backside of the camera with the film magasin taking off.
To lock that screw you have to take off the side with the advance arm, I could not loosen the 4 screw on the advance arm because it was glued, but it was not a problem, just change the positon at the arm and then you can take the plate out.
I use Locktite 243 (blue) screw lock to lock the looooong set screw, and the nut on the focus hand wheel.

Thank you for the video, this is the only RZ67 Pro disassembly video I could find in UA-cam.

The side cocking mechanism is pretty cool. Have a RZ67 Pro coming. Will keep in mind for maybe a tune up. I non time lapse would be okay.

Thanks to your video I finally got to see what this baby looks like on the inside. Insane!!!! Also great library of videos. Strangely relaxing to just leave running in the background with music while cleaning up and stuff :D

The long screw you are adjusting does not have a wedge to put screwdriver in my Mamiya RZ67. Problem definetely lay in that screw but I can't figure out how to adjust it.

I know this is a bit older but I was just working on one of my Mamiya RZ67 bodies and this video helped me a lot.
I ran into an issue with the bellows focus wheel. The shaft is held in place and centered in the camera body by means of a metal sheath around a plastic bushing (Delrin I guess). The metal sheath can be aligned with three tiny set screws. Two of them I got to break free and unscrew. On the last one the loctite seems quite strong and I worry that I'll ruin the screwhead.
On bigger mechanical connections (think plumbing..) I've countered a similar problem before using a blowtorch to heat and expand the locking nut, thus freeing the stuck connection.
On the Mamiya I tried heating the metal of the body using a lighter but didn't have much luck so far.
What's your take in a situation like this?

My light baffle doesn’t go up with the mirror when I release the shutter, any idea what it could be?

Hej Kenneth! Hvis fokus er lidt løs i min RZ67, er det så bare at fjerne gummioverlaget, og stramme bolten i focusknob'en?

.hello I am renewing my request and my question, maybe my question has fallen by the wayside?
Thank you if you have a solution..
bravo for your explanatory video, I also have this camera for a short time, ..
I have a little question to ask you if you wash the answer it would be great, my camera does not trigger in normal position on the " white dot (, when I do not put a film in the back / cartridge, ..
... It triggers when I put on the M position (superposition,) and when I put a film in the back / carthouche it triggers at all speeds on the white point (normal position) ... So do you have to put a film on your back for it to trigger? Thank you very much if you can illuminate my lights.
    Best regards

Hi Mikeno62. I've got a problem with my Mamiya. I already open the base and the side part. I need a photo of the inside to see how springs are attached. I don't find any picture on the net of this, so please, could you send me some pictures to see how they are supposed to be. Thanks a lot!

Hi, I’m having (as far as I can tell) the exact same problem. Did you end up being able to fix it? If so what’d you have to do?

At @0:36 I cannot get my light baffle to pop up like that. My mirror is stuck in the up position, but my light baffle is down. I cannot get the film to advance or the shutter button to fire.

Hi Mike, thanks for putting together this great video. I have a problem with my RZ67 where it won't fire in the normal operating mode. The white dots are lined up and the dark slide is out. It is in the correct firing configuration but will only go off when placed in the emergency mode.
From what I'm reading, it looks like the MC(?) unit may have gone bad? Will the video guide get me to the point of being able to replace it?

Adrian Keith I have the same problem on one of my bodies. Was my own fault too ;(
What do you mean by "MC"?
Do you mean one of the ICs might be faulty?

    • @Minerva___
      @Minerva___ 7 років тому +1

      Jim,
I've since returned the body that was problematic for me. I don't have the link handy but the Mamiya RZ67 repair manual is out there on the internet and I *believe* it showed the diagnostic information for the exact case I was having (a specific light would turn on, but the camera would not fire). What was really odd was if I hit the button just right with a certain amount of force, the shutter would fire in the normal operating mode (white dots lined up, etc). I believe the MC was a microcontroller? I can't recall at the moment. I'll try to find the manual and link it here or post what the MC was. In any case, it seemed to be the part that needed to be replaced but given the current state of Mamiya in the US and possibly even in Japan, I was betting that I'd be hard pressed to find that part without buying another parts body on eBay and cannibalizing it from there. Seems like that's the way most folks are now fixing their RZs. It's a shame too because I really love this camera even though I have yet to put a roll of film through it.

Adrian Keith Sorry to hear that you had to return your camera.
I guess your right. People will basically only have the option of cannibalizing other bodies for parts. Sad state of affairs but I guess one we have to deal with. I'll try to stock up on faulty bodies then for the future...
Would love to see the diagram you mentioned. I know of a repair-facility instruction manual but it's for the RB. It's on ebay, if it wasn't 60 $ I would have already bought it ...
I'm sucking up (and archiving) all kinds of information about Mamiya that I can find out there.

Check here -- www.edsawyer.com/lenstests/ I believe this is the correct manual for our camera.
I returned the other but turned around and bought another one. I didn't want to be without one and found one in good working condition. Even came with the prism finder! I may do the same, stock up on a body or two just for parts. The one I bought that was supposedly in working condition and tested was only $40 so it may not be a bad idea.
If you ever take yours apart, hopefully you can make a video of it and whatever you do to fix it.
Hopefully that link helps, there are a few different manuals for various cameras but it should contain a two-part manual for the RZ67 pro repair/service guide. Its an invaluable resource. Definitely download what you need.

It's a Metal compass, where I have file the ends so I can use it for that kind of screws, I also add links in the description to different tools.

hello! I have a RZ67 II that seems to have a bit of play in the focus knob. You can see the issue here in my Dropbox folder: www.dropbox.com/s/38tuat9nu7ig83a/Video%202018-08-16%2C%2010%2017%2034.mov?dl=0
Does this appear normal. If not, do you have any idea what the issue most likely is and whether it's something I could DIY without getting new parts?

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  6 років тому

Maybe some part's, screws, or other parts on the focus rail inside the camera is loose and need to be tighten.
But of course it could also be the focus gear that is a little worn out.
      Just some ideas.
