I cant believe they executed Yhwach in the beginning! 😂 All jokes aside they did a great job with the set/costume desgin. Finally a decent live action adaptation
What a comparison! 🤣 I didn't really get around to mentioning the environments, set pieces, and costume designs much during the reaction but those things did all noticeably contribute to the atmosphere they were trying to create in this episode. Definitely a strong start with a lot of good things going in the show's favor; hopefully they'll carry that momentum forward through the season 😃
I really enjoyed your reaction, this series is really fun, I hope you keep watching it~ The casting is so nice, I was really suprised that this adaption works so well!
The casting was *so good* from what I saw in this first episode! While there were a lot of positives of note so far (some of which I didn't even address here or on Patreon), I think the strongest point among them has been the overall acting performances. And while the Like ratio hasn't been quite as good as I would have hoped, the video is still performing pretty well in terms of views and watch time, so I intend to do at least another episode or two 😁
I have a thousand little nit picks but Considering they were condescending 44 episodes of anime into 8 episodes that are twice as long (so kind of 16) I think they did a great job.
You wrote "condescending" instead of "condensing" so I initially thought you were saying that I was being disrespectful towards the show or something 😂 I got what you were saying after I read the rest of the message and figured out the typo though, haha. I'm glad that it seems like the show is appealing to all sorts of people! I feel like the popularity of something like a One Piece adaptation among people with differing levels of familiarity with One Piece (and even just anime in general) honestly bodes well for how people are likely to perceive the medium in the future ^.^
Love your commentary!! Great reaction and I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. The Zoro v. Marines fight in the bar is my favorite, too and feels like the most natural fight choreo, imho. As far as I'm aware, Mackenyu (Zoro) had the most fan awareness before One Piece because he's been in a lot of live action reenactments already and had a superb role in Ruroni Kenshin as Enishi. He's also Sonny Chiba's son so I'm sure that helped, lol.
Thank you! Something about that bar fight that I appreciated even more as I was rewatching it in editing was just how _powerful_ I feel it shows Zoro is. Kicking a stool into a guy's legs and having it knock him over? Throwing a mug/tankard into a guy's gut and stopping him in his tracks? That's not just catching someone by surprise with clever and creative tactics, that is a demonstration of *immense* force at work 👀
23:43 Fascinating you mention Nami using her real name instead of an alias. I notice not too long ago after buying the first box set of the manga, that Nami uses her real name with Buggy, Luffy while being a ‘thief’. She does not hide her name, likely out of principle to not forget who she is imo
While it could be seen as a simple writing oversight, I find it somewhat hard to believe since I feel even an amateur author would likely recognize that most folks (especially someone shrewd like Nami) wouldn't carelessly give out their real name while deceiving others. As such I'd be inclined to agree with you that it's meant as a bit of subtle insight into her character 🧐
Probably because of what she went through with the pirates in her life and how she has never felt like herself, but always a pawn for something bigger than her.
This is good for non fans yes! I'll say tho the best way to get into One Piece is still the Manga because the anime tends to fuck it up hard. BUT that doesn't mean the anime has no merits as they tend to nail big moments, the G8 Filler Arc is legit great, and the Wano Adaptation is fucking superb. Try those mostly yes
I've never been a huge manga reader tbh, especially for action series. I want to be able to see the _motion_ that is transpiring during a fight and easily follow what's happening. I have a hard time getting hyped while also trying to decipher the movement being depicted in manga panels 😆
@@RiverReacts That's fair! I still will recommend the anime ye, maybe try One Pace which cuts down on the padding but ye, if you could I still think it's a good introduction :D
@@Kimikachu22 Oh I hadn't heard of this, it seems like an interesting project after a quick look. Might be worth trying at some point 🤔 Maybe when a few more of the early arcs get 1080p releases! 😄
Great reaction! Glad your enjoying this!
Thanks! I'm glad to finally have an adaptation worth enjoying 😆

You likes Kuro? Oh please, can't you watch up to episode 3-4 so we can see your reaction to this version of him?!
This video has been performing pretty well so far so I think you can expect another episode or two later this week(end) ^.^
@@RiverReacts Nice! Looking forward to them.👍
