Cleaning different types of flooring requires specific methods and products to ensure effective cleaning without damaging the surface. Here’s a guide for cleaning various types of flooring: Hardwood Flooring 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a microfiber mop or a soft broom to remove dust and dirt. Avoid using a vacuum with a beater bar, as it can scratch the surface. 2. **Mopping:** Use a damp (not wet) mop with a cleaner specifically designed for hardwood floors. Avoid using water excessively as it can damage the wood. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Wipe up spills immediately with a dry or slightly damp cloth. For stubborn stains, use a hardwood floor cleaner. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Apply a hardwood floor polish or wax every few months to maintain shine and protect the surface. ### Laminate Flooring 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a soft broom or a vacuum with a hard floor attachment to remove dust and debris. 2. **Mopping:** Use a damp mop with a cleaner designed for laminate flooring. Avoid soaking the floor or using steam mops. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Clean up spills immediately to prevent damage. For stains, use a gentle cleaner and a soft cloth. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Avoid abrasive cleaners or pads that can scratch the surface. Use felt pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. ### Tile Flooring (Ceramic, Porcelain) 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a broom or vacuum to remove dust and debris. 2. **Mopping:** Use a mop with warm water and a mild tile cleaner. For grout, use a brush with a mixture of baking soda and water or a grout cleaner. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Clean spills immediately to prevent staining the grout. Use a mild detergent for stubborn stains. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Seal grout lines periodically to prevent stains and moisture penetration. ### Vinyl Flooring 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a broom or vacuum to remove dust and dirt. 2. **Mopping:** Use a damp mop with a vinyl floor cleaner or a mixture of water and a few drops of dish soap. Avoid soaking the floor or using abrasive cleaners. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Wipe up spills immediately. Use a mild cleaner for stains, avoiding harsh chemicals. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Use protective pads under furniture legs to prevent scratches. ### Carpet Flooring 1. **Vacuuming:** Vacuum regularly to remove dirt and debris. Use a vacuum with strong suction and a rotating brush for best results. 2. **Spot Cleaning:** Treat spills and stains immediately using a carpet cleaner or a mixture of water and mild detergent. Blot the area rather than rubbing to avoid spreading the stain. 3. **Deep Cleaning:** Have carpets professionally cleaned or use a carpet cleaning machine every 6-12 months. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Use area rugs in high-traffic areas and rearrange furniture periodically to prevent uneven wear. ### Stone Flooring (Marble, Granite, Slate) 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a soft broom or a dust mop to remove dirt and debris. 2. **Mopping:** Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a damp mop. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that can damage the stone. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Clean up spills immediately to prevent staining. Use a stone-specific stain remover for tough stains. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Seal stone surfaces periodically to protect against stains and moisture. ### Linoleum Flooring 1. **Dust and Sweep:** Use a broom or vacuum to remove dust and dirt. 2. **Mopping:** Use a damp mop with a mild floor cleaner specifically designed for linoleum. Avoid soaking the floor. 3. **Spills and Stains:** Wipe up spills immediately. Use a mild cleaner for stains, avoiding harsh chemicals. 4. **Regular Maintenance:** Apply a linoleum floor polish every few months to maintain shine and protect the surface. By following these guidelines, you can effectively clean and maintain different types of flooring, ensuring they remain in good condition for years to come.

"transfer" is throwing me off a bit in your question. If you're already working as a custodian for the USPS, and simply want to transfer locations, you don't need to take the 916 Assessment. If you're not working as a custodian and want to switch crafts, then you'd need to have a recent passing score on file (within the last two years), in order to be considered for a laborer custodial position. I hope this answers your question. Let me know if I can help any further :)
OK, yes, you will have to take this assessment if you are currently working as a carrier. I thought you were talking about transferring locations.
