  • In this video im gonna do my best to show how to tune an RC mono hull boat. I will show you each position and prime positions for trim tab, strut, stinger, ruder, and turn fins on your Mono hull boat to get Optimum performance. I'm really gonna scratch the surface of tuning a boat touchbase on each aspect not all boats are created equal so what works good on my boat may not work good on your boat but the principles are the same
I Spent a lot of time making this video a lot of thought went into it, I hope you guys enjoy, please feel free to comment on and any aspects of the Video. If you know something that may help a beginner RC boater drop a comment I'm sure they will appreciate it, if you're new into boating take a look at the comments in this video there may be something in there that will help you out
Thank you for watching IRONCLAD RC a channel where we tinker test and tune everything RC. Don't forget to like comment and subscribe

I really like your videos. I got into rc boating about a year ago and I don't know anyone in my area that is involved in rc boats so all my knowledge to date is mostly from UA-cam and some from trial and error. That being said, until I found your videos I've struggled to find good quality tutorial information so thank you very much. Much appreciated 🙏 ☺

    I've just maidened my Vector Sr80 & it was a real thrill.!! 👍 👍 👍
I ran 3 packs through it & I'll be out again tomorrow.
I now see that I've got an AWFUL lot to learn.! 😉 😉
I wasn't getting the top speed I was after, probably because my turn fins were too far down... That totally makes sense about them only being in the water in the turns.
Thank you so much for doing this for us noobies.!! 👍 👍 👍

I’m new to fast electric larger boats, I’ve got a barracuda 43, it’s not been in the water yet, but I’ve got stuff to do, such as trim tabs turn fins, even foam for the hatch. I see to race if monos but here in U.K. a lot of lakes and ponds are banningi c due to noise , but the smaller mono I’ve been borrowing runs differently. These videos have been a god send , I’m learning so much, thank you.

I've just maidened my Vector Sr80 & it was a thrill.!
I now see that I have a lot of experimenting & learning ahead of me.
I wasn't getting the top speed I was after, probably in the low 30s.
I think it's because my turning fins were too far down.
I'll be out asap tomorrow to run more packs through it.!! 👍 👍 👍

Hi mate, your content is great - super informative and highly entertaining. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us newbies. I dont know what it is about these boats but its super addictive. Maybe because you dont have all the hassle of finding spots to fly planes, or all of the expensive broken bits on the big trucks lol.

I'm considering hoping it up with new tech motor and ESC. It's a 45amp ESC now with NiMH batteries :) ANYWAY, This really opened my eyes to tuning that shallow vee mono when I get it back in the water. THANKS !!

@@IRONCLADRC Thanks brother, your videos are always educational and helpful. What thoughts do you have on a video about cooling advice; bigger tube, smaller tubing, using T or Y fittings to run two inlets to a ESC and dual outlets, running a pickup of the strut rather than a dual pickup rudder or both. Id there a such thing as over kill on "too much" cooling? I also see a lot of misconceptions and questions on batteries, specifically weather you should run higher "C" ratings to decrease heat or stress on the ESC between say a 35c, 50c and 100c batteries.

Sir. Very helpful video. I am an old boater with weadeater experience so all of this stuff is new to me. I recentlly purchased a Vector SR 80 Pro. I live in Japan on a relatively quiet saltwater location in Tokyo Bay. I rarely have the pond smooth water in this video so I'm looking for your opinions on minor chop tuning. Thank you.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 роки тому

I'd try running your battery back (CG) farther back in the boat so she doesn't nose dive in the chop. You can also put a little positive (up) angle on the strut/stinger to plant the boat a little more? Hopefully this helps. The adjustments should be minute in small increments according the the water conditions

Both boats are amazing, impulse 32 is fiberglass and has more power than the sonicwake. Sonicwake has a the self righting feature which make it a little more user-friendly. If your looking for performance I'd get the impulse 32. Hope that helps?
