Heartening to hear professionals with non technical background sharing their journey although my strategy was completely different. As we complete 2 years in this beautiful country, soon after I started applying I realized it would be difficult to make a mark if the search was general so I played to my strengths and only looked for jobs where I could showcase my strengths and the experience I acquired in the Industry (even though it was in India I was lucky to have worked with global Institutes). I was able to utilize my experience and transfer my skills sets to the role I found with a top Institute (count myself extremely lucky) and in the process am able to work in the same Industry I was working in back home. Wasn't an easy process though and I surely had to move outside my comfort zone but it was absolutely worth it.

I am so thrilled to see young dynamic Indians who have left their lives in India just like I did in 1987 and establishing their lives in Canada. You will look back and definitely not regret it. After 33 years in the US I do not regret it. I left Bombay, India on Aug 15th., 1987. While the initial years can be tough, when you are in your 20s, you are more resilient and adapt to change better. I am well established in the US and even at age 60, I am still studying and getting additional AWS certifications. Taking my third AWS certification in a few weeks. With my resume current and very marketable, I could possibly continue working into my 70s not because of money but because I love to learn. You have chosen the right option and when you see the options that your children have in Canada, you will realize that you made the right decision. Moving to the US in the future could also be an option if you choose to do so. Also, becoming a Canadian citizen will enable you to have even more job options in the federal, state and local governments even if you choose to establish your own businesses. The very best to all of you!

I agree with everything that Khushboo & Rushabh discussed about resumes. For every position on my resume, I add a few sentences highlighting the impact I had on the job. This will give potential recruiters and hiring managers the ability to separate you from the rest of the crowd. With so much online training, free and almost free, there is no reason why you should not pursue online training and certifications in your field of work. Passing a certification exam requires extensive commitment and dedication and it can make the difference between you or someone else being selected for a job. One absolute No No is falsifying information on your resume or your education. If a potential employer finds out, you could get blacklisted and that can follow you for the rest of your life. I have done phone interviews with potential candidates. In less than 20 minutes I figured out they were lying about their skills. Here in the west, employers have ways to check on your credentials. Yes, I too worked for multiple Marwari owned companies in Bombay and the owners took advantage of me and other employees. Here in the west, employers do it too but we have many more options. The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn as much as you can in every job, obtain great references, obtain all the educational qualifications from the top most institutions. No employer can take this away from you. There is an infinite amount to learn on practically any subject. It just requires self-motivation. There is a reason why both of you are here in Canada and others are not!

I remember even 20 years ago when i was working in the UK, the janitor would wonder why i was still in office after 5 pm and asked me if i was slow at my work (basically, incompetent!!) and why i was still at work when everyone else left!! I am traveling to Vancouver on work permit in very starting of the September. Kindly suggest:
    1. Which airline company would be economical from Lahore Pakistan to Vancouver with direct flight or connected flight?
    2. Please suggest how and from where I can rent a cheap room for one person in Vancouver which will be near to bus station or subways.
Your suggestions will really help me landing Canada with minimal expenses.

Very informative. But my 2 cents, the dynamics change and are very different when you migrate with Kids and particularly more when one of our kids is greater than 10+ years or in grade 5 and above. If you could mention this as a disclaimer in your channel. For friends migrating in your age group, your channel provide a true and fair representation.

Navjot and Simran..thanx a ton for such insightful videos. It definitely gave me hope to try my best. I’m currently trying to find a job in Digital Marketing in India, making a switch from off-line marketing, but it’s been very disappointing so far. A gap that I took to care for my baby, seems to be working against me at this point.
Hoping for a fresh lease of life in Canada if the CRS scores are favourable by next year.
Would really appreciate any advice/tips you may have for me in this regard.
Also, could you do a similar video for people working as Innovation Chefs/Research Associate/New Product Developers etc? There is hardly any information anywhere on the scope of various fields.
    Thanks again. 😊

Loved the video and the information. This has fueled my craze for Digital Marketing learning from India itself. Can we start a group of Marketing Community on the same basis? This will be a bridge between Indians like us seeking such jobs in Canada. Also later we can be contributing members to help other people who aspire to be in Canada.

Guys you are doing great work. One suggestion - It would be better if people can share salary(need not to be exact. Just range) so we can get idea what starting salary we can expect in that kind of field.

You can always check glassdoor.com for salary ranges.. its pretty good and accurate
