Actually, that's an NFC chip. A NTAG215, to be exact. You can write Amiibo data to empty ones using special software on your 3DS, and they act exactly like normal Amiibo.

As an Amiibo lover and enthusiast, I held my breath watching you try to take one apart. I saw you trying to rip it apart with your bare hands, hoping it wouldn't be that easy to disassemble one. To my relief, you really had to go at it to take it apart, which makes me glad. They're durable! Good to know! This video was hilarious and interesting! Nice job!

Not that suprising. I can see that chip in the very first Skylander figures so I assume all amiboo or chip related figures operate the same way.
From what I understand, yes, it is the same technology. A little tidbit, but Activision, who owns the Skylanders line, actually came to Nintendo a full year before Amiibo ever became a thing. Nintendo rejected the idea, but after recognizing the error quickly produced their own "Toys-to-life". Amiibo could have been something completely different if Nintendo had accepted Activision's offer.

It's like a bizarre life hack. Want to have all your ammibo with you, but don't want to lug around 50 different figures? Break them all open and remove their nfc sticker!
I like how everyone thought you'd tear apart toad but instead it was like... "pat pat my child shush and get off the base"
I just realized if you cut the figure from the pad, the amiibo still works, there's an ID on the bottom that makes it work
NFC not RFID not the same and dont work the same.
NFC (Near field communication) works by tapping the magnetic chip to the reciever. The amiibo has a sort of ID in them that the consoles recongnizes. But the amiibo (NFC) cant store data. The console does by recognizing the amiibo ID
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) works with geo localisation, radio waves and memory.
The theatrical value of this video is tremendous.
