RED POTATOES is it a result of the sugar content, carbs range in complexity from "Complex" to single chain "simple sugars", as such the potatoes that contain simpler carbs, more readily usable by the meal worm digestive system with less energy/time processing will allow fro faster growth. I wonder how simple of a sugar they can utilize and still be beneficial to them. unfortunately all the research relating to how easily potato starch is converted into sugars are based on a human digestive system, and mealworms probably don't have the kind of enzymes that we have for such tasks. The red potatoes have more simple sugars and less starches so i'll for RED POTATOES. What if you stored them at a cold temperature while not letting them go bad (the fridge is supposed to be good for this), allowing the starches to further naturally break down to sugars?, would the effect be even more pronounced?
Garrett, I cannot find the update video, can you please post the link? I take it the group 1 was it? I am from South Africa and have just started breeding meal and super worms. I watched 100's of videos, yours the best with the most info. . . . thank you!
Hello Garrett, I say the red. I have mine on the russet and they aren't growing very fast. Also, I know I'm going to sound like a mom but when working with the frass it's best to use a mask. I have chronic asthma and I checked it out. Found out it eventually will harm a person's respiratory system. Because of the asthma I did notice it and started using a face mask. So don't want you or anyone in tje group to suffer with asthma. It sucks big time. God's blessings to you and yours, Lin
Looks like your white potato has been exposed to too much light which has caused it to turn slightly green on the out side and that makes them toxic or pasionios to us, so not sure if it's the same for meal worms!!
Idk why I love your videos so much
