A few years ago I had my beardie outside in the backyard in a little tub. The sides were pretty low but I thought she wouldn't try and make a break for it because she's got a mellow temperament. I forget exactly what happened--maybe I moved a little too fast or something--but suddenly she had hopped out and was booking it to the shrubs on the side of the yard. Fortunately she stopped and froze up so I was able to catch her, but man it was scary. I rarely take her outside these days, especially now that we've got dogs around. I'm glad you were able to catch Shadow. It would have been devastating if you lost him.
I just lost my bearded dragon outside and I've been looking for him for over an hour and I dont know what to do anymore. He was on my porch and I left for 20 min to take a bath. Please of theres any advice i need it
Awww so glad u got him home safe! Soon after buying my dragon (4 yrs ago) I took him outside to get some natural sunshine & put him down...he was fine for a few minutes but when i bent down to pick him up my long hair flew down & cast a huge shadow & it scared him so he opened his mouth & stuck out his tongue ready to attack...it scared me to death! I had to be brave to pick him up but i dont put him down anymore. I will take him for walks caring him or sometimes stand in the sun with him on my chest. He feels safer when im holding him & so do i. Thx for sharing ur story as i kno it will help people 💕🦎
Thats a good idea! I might just get a leash for him because I still want him to be able to go outside, or I might make some sort of modular cage outside. That would make a decent video too.
Glad to hear your story had a happy ending. A couple suggestions on your tank. I would add more UVB. You can run a tube bulb down the length of the tank, so he gets UVB when he's on the cooler side too. You might also try some suction cup hammocks and lizard ladders. When my dragon was that size, he loved to climb on the ladders. He even slept hanging vertical most nights. Also, they do make Beardie leashes for outside trips. I have never used one, as my guy doesn't like outside, but I have seen people use them on instagram.
The same thing happened to me, i was playing with me beardie in the grass outside my house when he bolted and ran into the street and he could've ran so far if he wanted but he stopped under a car, puffed up and beard flared. His mouth was open. After I got him i took him inside and never took him out again. He almost went into a sewer drain!

Couldn't stomach when you said something about hate remarks. Update on my butterfly agama I got at Christmas. Found out for sure today Nevaeh is a girl. I have her in a 55 gal tank complete with a waterfall and a huge National Geographic tree plus a big log to hide in two other hides. The tree is her favorite to hide in. Looks so real. Different silk ferns and plants. Yup she's liven good. Today she met her husband Caleb. He is in quarantine for now. She did lick his face when they met. I hope that was a good thing. They like to live in groups and mate for life so I hope they will do great together. I'm so glad you got Shadow back I so would be crying my heart out if you didn't get him. one reason that some people are able to take their beardie outside without them running away im sad to say is that they tend to keep them way too lethargic and they dont have energy to run BUT You do an awesome job at keeping yours at the right Temps Glad you got him back. I had to have my beardie put down at vet when she decided to lay up to 60 unfertilized eggs and all the straining she did caused her to have an Anal blow out. I cried for days she was 6 years old

My beared dragon got lost 2 days ago I ve been crying a lot ,I'm so sad we check out every single thing around my house but my feeling is some one stole him 9/13/22 the worse day in my life I'm a woman 40 years old maybe for some one else is weird to see an adult crying for a lizard but I love my pet with all my heart ❤️
Well I am so happy you got your little guy back and I couldn't help to have a little chuckle since I have experienced a very similar situation years ago but since I became a breeder I learned that if and when I decide to take them outside they will wear a harness and a leash even if they don't like it because I'd rather have them mad at me then to have them disappear and die... I'm not sure if you have picked up a harness at this point since this is an older video but I would like to say I strongly recommend them and they come in all different sizes depending on the size have your dragon and they are wonderful! Even still in case anyone's wondering you should never leave them unattended which I'm sure most wouldn't but as far as those harnesses go you can get them at local reptile shows or online :) I hope Shadow is doing well these days:)
It’s alright! :) we all make mistakes. One time, I got VERY tired and I had my leopard gecko out, Pascal. It was late and I was cuddling with him. I fell asleep with him on my chest. Jesus christ that was terrifying when I woke up. But he was fine! Even though I twist and turn in the middle of the night, he was okay! He was snuggling against me. The only thing is though, he lost a nail :( It was probably because he got loose on my bed and his nails got caught in my bedding.
My suggestion is to prevent this from ever happening again is to have him in a harness. I can have my bearded dragon outside just fine when that happens. My beardo though has never been extremely defensive towards me because I handle him several times a day and even take him to go to sleep with me. I also don't think your bearded dragon is a male unless you got him gendered. The tail seems pretty thin for a male, but good size for a female.
I've had a similar story like this. I got a bearded dragon and it was about the size of Shadow. At the time I had him for about 2 months. I was excited to take him outside but when I put him on the grass he ran so fast under our porch. My beardie is so fat that when I brought a can of worms out for him he ran towards me😂 I quickly grabbed him and that's the last time he's ran. His name spiky boi😄😂
we had my dragon in a bath ans we didnt think she could climb up the walls of the container we had her in but apparently she could!😂my mom forgot she was out there and left her out there for an hour and a half. When we remembered she was in the bath and went out to get her and she was gone😵 we live infront of the woods and we found her behind our fence into the forrest and luckily she froze up and was just sitting there **SOMETHING FORGOT TO METION* my beardie is blind so she would probably have died on the second day being in the wild. But I'm so glad we caught her when we did because if we didn't...who knows were she would be rn😢😢

I don’t have a long tube uvb bulb I have one on the top it’s a repti 10.0 would this bulb be ok for my bearded dragon or do I have to get the long tube light
Book Worm get a long reptisun and suspend it in the tank. Mesh screen blocks up to 50% of the rays and the bulb your using isn’t sufficient enough. You need the long reptisun. Hope this helps.

dont really think thats enough space for a big animal like this + the cage fasility is nothing the way it is in nature . He need a Sandfloor and a lot of other stuff -.- ! If you dont have the money to hold your animals Humanely dont buy them !
Sara Zara this setup is more adequate for a bearded dragon. The repti carpet keeps the dragon from experiencing impaction when feeding, and the tile allows his claws to remain trimmed. A bioactive enclosure or a more realistic enclosure may be more aesthetically appealing to the human eye, but the lizard is more than content in a setup such as this. I suggest you do your research before you turn to such negativity.

They have harness and leashes for the dragons. Had one for my iguana .

And a T8 reptisun isn’t a strong enough bulb, you’re going to want the t5. The t5 reptisun pushes out more uvb- sufficent amount for a beardie

All you can if you have some crickets or worms put them in a clear container on the floor somewhere, this might attract your beardie
