I was just sitting here thinking that same thing lol. I'll be 30 next month (i know not OLD old) but I remember seeing those 3 cars when they ran ALMS at Road America with my Dad. I'll never forget the sounds of those 3 all running in a pack together.
We need more of these cars in racing simulation games. They WERE once in the games, but games from 2006 that didn't have today's games' amazing graphics, sounds and physics.
Not yet, unfortunately. But I hope that something can be done this year, as I talked to one of the current owners and the team which manages it now. From what they told me it was commissioned by Lamborghini itself in 1995 to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was build by UK-based Amos International Motorsport while the first shakedown of the car was entrusted to the ex Larousse F1 team. Unfortunately after this first test some legal disputes inside Lamborghini and then between both Lamborghini and Amos International led to the entire project ending shortly before the race (and if that wasn't enough, the Diablo GT1 didn't pass the early technical checks due to the engine being mounted in a different orientation to the Diablo road-going car it was based on). It was later acquired by the South-African Lamborghini importer and it remained there until a few years ago

Been at races for almost 50 years now, the most impressive thing I've ever heard was the first time the Panoz came flying by in 1997 , the ground was shaking in a Panoz-kind of way. Awesome and scary the same time, if that makes any sense
I saw a couple Panoz running at Laguna Secca (c)97-98-ish and remember the distinct grinding-screaming sounds the engines made, as if on the edge of explosion.
I have seen that Corvette live winning races at Spa and Zolder. Thx Bozzy, for this wonderful revival. This video is a feast for the eyes and ears and the perfect night cap. Brings back lovely memories of the time I visited the GT races at Spa and Zolder. As I get older, the love for this generation of race cars only grows bigger. This is golden stuff of video material, my friend.
I remembered these cars a lot from the underrated racing game on PS1,@@19Bozzy92. THE SPORTS CAR GT! It also has the rare cars like Porsche 996 LMGT2 TEAM SCHUMACHER and Panoz Q9 Hybrid LMGT1.
I remember seeing these cars race live, as if it were yesterday. Now they're old, vintage historic machines. Thanks for reminding us all how much older we've gotten.

The 2002 AUDI R8 LMP1, the DBR9, S7-R, CORVETTE C6.R LMGT2, and Maserati MC12 LMGT1 makes me miss all the iconic cars from well known racing games. TVR T400R (Tuscan R) too.... Wish that car is featured in GT7.

The C6.R sounds exactly like the one in iRacing, I'm so impressed. The DBR9 GT1 is one of the best sounding cars ever made. I'm really glad people are keeping these cars going. They're pieces of history and don't deserve to sit in a museum and rot.

This was the era I got into sportcars, i feel fortunate to have seen it in person multiple times at Road America in the early 00s. There was so much vatiety back then between classes, chasis manufacturers and engines. Limiting LMP2 to 4 manufacturers did exactly what they hoped ... create a monopoly. Every series is GT3 now, just boring to watch

The absolute best “modern” class to watch live (or UA-cam). So. Many. Engines! Spent a few hours roaming a Portimao race weekend last year, endurance legends was a highlight but this event seems to have been even more packed with epic race cars. Good stuff keeping these cars out there and smashing it.

The absolute best “modern” class to watch live (or UA-cam). So. Many. Engines! Spent a few hours roaming a Portimao race weekend last year, endurance legends was a highlight but this event seems to have been even more packed with epic race cars. Good stuff keeping these cars out there and smashing it.
Lovely quality, lovely sound, lovely automobiles. Can we really put internal combustion machines into our past guilt free? I say nay.
