  • In this video, I show you how to tie a clinch nut in a very easy way using your hemostats. By learning this technique, it makes tying a hopper dropper very easy practice this over and over and you’ll catch a whole lot more fish.

Nice trick. I use a similar method for starting my dropper rig around my finger, and then slipping the loop over the dry fly hook before cinching it down.

Thanks for using the correct terminology i.e. hemostats. You got stream cred.

I'm from Ann Arbor. Most people here call them roach clips! 🙂

I just recently discovered your videos. They are so informative! Thanks for continuing to create content. The Hemostat clinch knot is a good tip, but how is a guy with deteriorating vision supposed to thread a size 20 or smaller in his tippet? Do you have any tips there, beyond wearing cheaters around my neck?

2 bober stoppers and 1.5mm tippet ring. Pass the line through the center of the tippet ring. Use bober stoppers to control where you want it on the leader.

I've done that. I keep losing the bobber stopers.

@@MikeMouradian you have to use monofilament. Fly fishing tippet is slicker and thinner. They just slide and don't bite in.

@@MrRourk Ha Ha! I meant I keep dropping the stoppers into the grass and water and the bottom of my bag. I have not used a tippet ring but many of my buddies swear by them. I'll have to try that. I like to try different methods and I love hearing about different techniques.
