- On February 3, 2005, Nelson Mandela addressed over 20,000 people in London's Trafalgar Square to tell word leaders to end extreme global poverty.
Mandela says, "Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life. While poverty persists, there is no true freedom."
10 years ago today, Nelson Mandela gave a powerful speech in Trafalgar Square. It became a rallying cry for many of us on the journey to end extreme poverty.
I was there that day very powerful speaker he was and a great man.

The Great one ,the son of the soil
Be thy great
Great speech. I only disagree with the statement that poverty is not natural, but man-made. That is not correct, the opposite is true, almost always. In nature, human being is poor, in civilization he is rich. But he is correct in the rest of the statements, most importantly the trade justice. Free trade and easier start-ups are the source of income for any society.
Google Transcript of Nelson Mandela Speech in Trafalgar Square and a BBC link should pop up with the full speech. I'd post the link but UA-cam won't let me.
