At the end we see Nelson Mandela with his third wife Graca Machel. His first wife was Evelyn Mase, and his second wife was Winnie Madikizela. Nelson Mandela's third wife, Graca Machel, in decades prior to getting married to Nelson Mandela in 1998, had been married to Mozambique's first President, Samora Machel, who passed away in a plane crash in 1986. When Nelson Mandela passed away in 2013, there was a brief tug-of-war between Graca Machel and Winnie Madikizela over Nelson Mandela's expansive rural property in Qunu, South Africa. It was a brief tussle though, that was quickly settled in private behind close doors. However, before the disagreement between Graca Machel and Winnie Madikizela was settled in private behind closed doors, Winnie Madikizela had reportedly remarked, in a private conversation, as follows: "That concubine (in other words Graca Machel) owns the whole of Mozambique, and she can therefore leave Qunu to me." At Nelson Mandela's funeral service, there were celebratory chants and ululations when Grace Machel and Winnie Madikizela hugged each other in Church. It was a quick hug though, clearly done for cameras/public relations, a hug in which you could tell that both women were not exactly comfortable. I don't however think that whatever differences there were between Graca Machel and Winnie Madikizela, went beyond regular female rivalries, frictions and showdowns. These things happen, right?
