its sad too because the original did such a great job crafting story lines around real life topics like Will's dad abandoning him, Carlton and Will getting pulled over for no reason and Carlton refusing to believe he was profiled racially, and even the episode with the black fraternity trying to exclude Carlton because he wasn't "black enough". It was so nuanced and it spoke to every demographic.

It didn't speak to every demographic. It spoke to black people. It was literally woke. It just wasn't as bad back then because stories like this weren't super common being shoved down everyone's throat. More people could also relate back in the 90's.

Citing any legit source that their leaders had told them was bad would get them all riled up too. It is good fun but saddening to know there are people that far gone who walk among us, and that was ten years ago.

Based on the source material The Fresh Prince was always woke. The difference is the show was from the 90's so it wasn't considered woke back then. It was just a show from a black perspective.

In "Will," out November 9, the star describes his dad as a man with dualities.
"My father was violent, but he was also at every game, play, and recital. He was an alcoholic, but he was sober at every premiere of every one of my movies," he wrote, according to an excerpt highlighted by People magazine.
He added: "The same intense perfectionism that terrorized his family put food on the table every night of my life."
That terror is illustrated in a story Smith tells about when he was 9 years old and he watched his father "punch my mother in the side of the head so hard that she collapsed."
"I saw her spit blood," he writes. "That moment in that bedroom, probably more than any other moment in my life, has defined who I am."
"As a child I'd always told myself that I would one day avenge my mother. That when I was big enough, when I was strong enough, when I was no longer a coward, I would slay him," he wrote.
One day, he found himself pausing at the top of some stairs as he wheeled his father toward the bathroom and experienced a dark thought.
"I could shove him down, and easily get away with it," he writes. "As the decades of pain, anger, and resentment coursed then receded, I shook my head and proceeded to wheel Daddio to the bathroom."
No telling if this will make it past CommieTube's censors, but those are his own words according to CNN.

I was a white kid watching the show when it first aired, and I never missed an episode. It spoke about racism and the problems black Americans face, but it didn't make the entire show all about that. It was first and foremost a show about entertainment, much like all shows used to be about. The difference is I won't be watching a show that demonizes white people instead of trying to bring everyone together in harmony like the original.
Where are the shows that used to actually MEAN something when they brought up the harshness of reality? As a teenager, I loved watching Fresh Prince, but also Family Matters, Webster, Sister Sister, The Cosby Show, Smart Guy, and Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. ALL of those shows touched on the tough issue of racism, but NONE of them tried to demonize white people to the extent these newer activist shows do. Because racism was never as prominent with the average American family as people think it is today. And when they talked about it, people listened. The shows of today are only going to BREED more racism by convincing people that the stereotypes they see are true for everyone, and people will make snap judgements and distrust others because of them.

people are pretending that the fresh prince did not get serious or tackle serious issues. in reality it tackled serious issues all the time but it did not tackle them in the way the woke left wants. there was a time when we all agreed about these types of issues and that was when the fresh prince was made. the right has stayed consistent on these beliefs but its the left who has started to see once universally agreed apon concepts like racial blindness, judge people based on who they are not what they are, and racial discrimination is bad no matter what race is being discriminated against as outdated and problematic.

Just to be clear, in real life, Will Smith's father was around his entire life. That father scene in the original show was not Will Smith actually reacting to not having a father. That was just some dam good acting. When uncle Phil grabs Will and hugs him, James Avery a.k.a. Uncle Phil whispered " now that's fucking acting" into Will Smith's ear. It was emotional and draining so Will Smith did spend an hour away from the cast and crew to recover himself. Still, it is a myth that Will Smith has on record debunked and corrected by saying he grew up with and always had a great relationship with his father.

The writers of this show missed a huge trick by not making Uncle Phil a staunch Republican. That would have created so many opportunities for genuine discussions about the US political divide.
Will would instantly dislike Phil and think he's an "Uncle Tom", and Phil would think Will is stupid and naive. Over time as they get to know each other, they start to understand that they both have valid perspectives and can learn from each other. Phil realises he's out of touch with the lives and struggles of inner city black kids, and Will realises that Phil actually wants a better future for kids like him but has different ideas about how to achieve it.

H - "I just cooked this for my family and they loved it."

Good take! I want to throw out how ridiculous it was that Will ran away from the school security guard when the guard asked for his student ID. No questions asked he just ran because he had a flashback of when he was arrested by the cops for shooting a gun.
In a time when so where people are shot by the cops because they escalated a situation by running away when they could’ve just complied I think they made a bad move in having Will run when he was stopped by the security guard. It’s just encouraging more young people to disregard authority and to run away from the cops under the guise that every cop is out to kill them. I was so mad when I saw that. Another missed opportunity to try to change the narrative. Now all young people who see this will continue to have the mindset that they don’t need to comply which will potentially put them in a more dangerous situation.

PTSD is PSTD man; y’all ever been forcibly confined against your will for something you didn’t do? Hard to walk away from that & still the people with the authority are on your side. Come from the wrong side of the tracks, and anyone not on your side is against you (whether they are or not). Look, all I’m saying here is issues (and everybody’s got them) manifest in many ways. Some people run, some people come out swimming; others freeze, and very occasionally people actually use their heads & assess before reaching any conclusions. Do not judge others madness by your “sanity”, my guy, this take is just showing how much you don’t actually relate to real world. Want to be constructive with what you saying instead? Try saying it like it ain’t the word coming down from above, like a top a mighty high horse indeed.

Now I’d like to take a minute just sit right there, or else you’re literally a literal racist doing racism in Bel-Air
In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground where I spent my days redlined and forced to live in squalor
chillin’ out, maxin’ rioting all cool, and shootin’ at a rival outside of the school
When a couple of whites they were up to no good
Started bein’ racist in my neighborhood
I got in one little double homicide and my mom got scared
She said, ‘You’re movin’ with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air’
I whistled for the cab and when it came near the license plate said ‘fresh’ and it had a dice in the mirror
If anything I can say that this cab was rare, but I thought ‘nah forget it. Yo, holmes gimme your dice and license plate’ then drove to Bel-Air!
I pulled up to the house around seven or eight and yelled to the corpse, ‘yo holmes, smell ya later’
