Доброго здоровья! Просматрива ваши видео, я пришёл к выводу, что это лучшие видео по заточке инструментов и профильной шлифовке. На просторах интернета самое полное, простое и доходчивое изложение материала. Спасибо!

Best explanation of sharpening I’ve seen, thank you. Your channel is great.

a lot of fun to watch! I'm a retired tool and modelmaker but I never "sharpened" a tapered reamer. I was lucky enough to be able to buy new reamers when necessary. It does seem like an awful lot of work .

You're right, it is a lot of work. However this same method can be used to create any custom angle one might want including reamers with angles that can't be purchased and that's when it becomes priceless! Thanks for watching

Wow. Great to see a craftsman at work! I learned a lot from this! Thank you posting this. For regular sizes this isn’t economical but here in Europe some imperial sizes are hard to find and the ability to refinish old pieces is critical. Thank you!

Wow, that much swivel on the tale is amazing, only 120 degrees on my Cincinnati#2. Great video as usual. 👌👍

Wonderful videos as always. Learning a lot from you! I have 4 T & C grinders in my shop and with your knowledge I'm definitely finding more and more use for them!

Perfect. Purchased a box of 200 reamers for $100 AUD. Half of them need work. Your timing with your video is impecable. Haaaahaaaaa Cheers, Davo from Aus
Must say the majority of mine are straight & imperial (great for you), however, I need to take them down to metric and use your video as a guide to achieving that. Thanks again.

      Awesome! Glad you're enjoying!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO RE-SIZE STRAGHT REAMERS!!!
YOU WILL RUIN ALL YOUR STRAGHT REAMERS IF YOU DO WHAT I DID TO THIS TAPERED REAMER. TAPERED REAMERS ARE COMPLTELY DIFFERENT THAN STAGHT REAMERS.

Really enjoyed the video. What kind of wheel form do you have on the fist wheel you used? it appeared to be flat in the centre with some clearance either side. (Such that only the centre section of the wheel was cutting)

It was the flat form I was using. The wheel just happened to have an angle dressed on it from a previous project. Glad you enjoyed the video!

That spring loaded finger is nice. .002" Wire wheel? Can't find anything that small that isn't 1" diameter.

I had one heck of a time finding a wire wheel 4" diameter with .002" diameter stainless wires. When I finally found them I bought a bunch. They were incredibly expensive. I bought mine over 30 years ago and don't remember where I got them so I'm afraid I can't help you source them.

@@LappemountainlivingDo you think a stainless steel .003" wire wheel would be ok? Thank you very much enjoying all your videos. I have an Astra Elite AR5-E and a Gorton 375-4.

I would definitely give the .003" ss wire wheel a try. Also, you can always ease up on your pressure and speed up your feed rate so that your tool is spending less time in contact with the wire wheel. You'll know soon enough if the .003 wire is too aggressive.
Glad you're enjoying! Thanks for watching
Best of luck with all of your endeavors with your equipment!

@@duanedickey7043 Duane, wellerabrasives has .003" wheels. They have a 3", which would be ok in a drill press as you can play with feed rate as Lappe stated to me. Under Applications -> Cleaning (and Finishing), filter by Fill Diameter to see only the .003" options.

Thanks for researching and sharing Duane. I spent some time online today and couldn't find any wire diameter smaller than .005"

Ever make a custom reamer from scratch ? What material would you use ? I'd be interested to see the start to finish process.
    TIA

      Thanks for commenting Howard
I have made custom reamers from scratch. To answer your question, the materials I would chose would depend on the intended purpose of the tool. 63RC HSS for most unhardened metals. Silver soldered carbide inlays for anything hardened or nasty in other ways. I like your suggestion of building a reamer from scratch. I'll add it to the list
      Cheers!
