I believe the spherical design gives a more fuller projection of sound. I can imagine they have an event to using this for a sound room

I believe two of these can be used in conjunction with the Echo Studio to deliver an atmos experience.
I’m excited to see how the Nest Audio, HomePod mini, and Echo all stack up. The HomePod mini only has one speaker, but apple’s audio engineering is amazing
And Amazon's Echo devices are the cheapest with similar function because of the affordable Mediatek chipsets powering them.

The clean and compact design makes it a good fit for small spaces as well. The integrated features are neat as well including the Mediatek processor and the LED light at the bottom.
The Nest seems like a pretty good deal for the price. It just depends on your other devices and what you use. A year and some change back I bought a new phone on Amazon and it was an Amazon edition and priced very reasonable (less than half the price of the Non-Amazon version) so it came with Alexa and that's where it started.... Then I got a fire tv stick and some echo buds and i had been watching the echo dots and echos for a while and was waiting for a deal. Which prime day just came around and I got an echo dot 3rd gen along with a smart plug for free. Then I ordered a couple more echo dots for 18 dollars each and pre-ordered a couple echo 4th gens. I also bought some smart lights and a smart 6 outlet adapter. So I'm set now for a while anyway.
I am disappointed in amazon's smart plugs and only get them when discounted to a few bucks at the most. They are way to big for what they are and for that size it should have two outlets not one. Meanwhile third party companies sell smart plugs that are less than half the size. The 6 outlet smart outlet adapter was only 18 dollars which is less than amazon's retail price for their ugly smart plug. It has 3 individually controlled outlets and 3 that are always on... It also has 3 usb ports that can be turned off or on (not individually)
For 18 dollars it's a fantastic deal and has been working great. It worked with Alexa just fine too and was no hassle to connect.
Amazon needs to step it up heck Amazon bundled a smart light with one of my echo's and it doesn't even work right with Alexa.. You would think the company that made Alexa would be sure to sell smart lights that work properly with Alexa that's the only reason I bought it because I figured it has to work. Nope I was horribly wrong the lifx light has issues on its own app as it is and has issues setting up as a new device because a most of the time it claims to not be connected to wifi after you finish the setup and hit finish and you have to go through the process again. But when pairing with Alexa you have like a 15-20% chance of it pairing and even then if you unplug the light or your wifi drops or your power goes off and on off whatever reason it won't reconnect and will stay listed as unresponsive. You have to reset the light and set it back up in the lifx app again and then try to pair with Alexa again and hope it works.
Oh did I mention if it doesn't pair with Alexa the first time you have to reset the bulb add it back to the lifx device and try again? You can't just disable the skill re-enable and try again because it will never discover the device. It's pathetic that Amazon would support a light like this and it seems like lifx is more interested in trying to push their product on their app versus ensuring it works properly.
I think your remarks about the spherical shape of the echo are pretty funny. I actually bought one myself, and I also like it. Tell the truth, I don’t know which I like more, listening to it or holding it.
It will be good to see a comparison between this and the Apple HomePod, but also the echo studio. I have an echo plus, any idea whether I compare that with the Amazon fire stick?

Sounds great, love the new Technology, however I prefer the Minimalist shape of the old echo, and love my echo video for all rooms in the house that I like having a larger echo around.

homepod mini might sound better when it comes down, but ultimately the amazon echo is gonna be more useful overall. plus the difference in sound isn't going to be big
@@HearMeLearn probably true. But It depends of you are tied to a particular ecosystem. I am all Apple but have used theses echos and they are great especially when they are on sale for 25 bucks. Def not good for music tho.

Its said that homepod mini will only have a woofer with no tweeters, that would be a very interesting to hear against the new Echo.
I’ve replaced a version 1 echo near my bed with this new version and I now have to yell most of the time to get it’s attention. It’s even closer to my bed now. Seems microphone sensitivity is less responsive.

What is the acoustic music used in this? It sounds familiar.
I have both, the nest audio and this. The sound quality is better on the Nest, but the farfield mics are better on this. It depends on what you need the most.
Got both as well but I find the nest is better at hearing you when the volume is set high.. Only had the echo a few hours and I'm pretty impressed though I do find the clarity better on the nest at lower volumes.

How does it sound when compared to the Echo Show 8? And with the addition of Zigbee, I won't need a smart plug for my smart bulb? because my smart plug won't stay connected, defeating the purpose of having it.

I’ve got a 3rd gen echo dot which is impressive for its size. I want to upgrade to a 4th gen (either echo or dot) for better sound quality WITHOUT having to scream at it even louder and more frequently than I scream at my echo dot 3rd gen. QUESTION: if I upgrade to 4th gen will I be screaming at it more or less?
I have Echo Dot Premium 4th Generation. I don't have to "scream" at it. I'm 12 - 15 feet away & asked in a normal voice, "What time is it?" & she responded.

This globe is literally so good with its LED lighting. I think Amazon is using great mediatek chipsets because they all perform so good.
Maybe it's where I placed It in my room but I didn't hear a difference between this and the echo dot third generation.

I really don't like the cord that comes along with it. I got the black one today. And the cord is white. The ac adapter just dosnt complement the product in my eyes and I feel its a lil shorter cord then the 3rd gen cord that came with my previous 3rd gen echo dot. Also the base of the cord is more bulkier then the previous one. It takes up more space on my surge protector. The product itself does take up tiny bit more space then the 3rd gen but not alot at all and sphere shape takes lil bit getting used to and the sound is marginally better then 3rd gen but not alot better, just a tad crisper. im going to keep it. But I think 3rd gen is going to be my primary one. And later on if I decide to switch. I will.. over all it a good product just don't know if it worth the upgrade from a 3rd gen echo. And the generic ac adapter just turned me off to be quite honest with you.. if you coming from a 3rd gen to 4th gen you might get a tad bit buyers remorse like me.

Got mine yesterday. PROBLEM: The power cord only comes in WHITE! So, if you are trying to coordinate your Echo with, say, a black granite bar top, know that there will be a raging white cord running to it. Very poor "visioneering".

I legit think spheres are the future. They soon, follow you around and talk to you and even steps wont be a problem. I have a solution for that too.
What about the intelligence of the AI assistant? That's what I've found very weak with the Amazon/dot one - not nearly as capable at understanding what I'm asking vs Google.
