i like when the comment matches the picture.
it is a different picture now.
The chord structure of this song has changed my life
what is it?
same
Metoo
It’s amazing. At first listen, I didn’t quite know if I liked it but it only took a second time. Hooked!
I love those chords! It is taking me to a different dimension!
just discovered this song and band and wow this hits hard during this quarantine.
"Isolation can put a gun in your hand" - At Marina Abramovic's "Rhythm 0" performance (which is referred to in the video) a guy actually put a gun in her hand and pointed it at her head.
I love the song, but the video is too cruel for me to watch. Yes, I too, remember reading that Marina Abramovic had more than a few sickos around her 😔
@Liam Greene The lyrics are about depression & suicide, but the video is a reference to Marina Abramovic art performance. I think the conclusion to her performance is people can and will do anything to a person if they don’t act like a human (objectified), and they don’t resist the actions done to them.
I interpret the connection between the lyrics and video is about how depression eventually lead to destruction, either by people who dehumanize you or you ending it yourself. Of course, just like in Marina’s performance there might be people who are willing to protect/help you. But it all boils down to luck, and those good people might have a different motive in mind contrary to their actions ._.
I always thought it said "insolation" since engl. Is not my mother tongue something that means sunstroke... and that the lyrics where about summer xD
That about sums up art school.
"In this song, our narrator explores thoughts of depression and sadness. He describes how he feels lonely and hopeless, but takes no action in changing his situation." That's the meaning which I never knew until I saw the lyrics on Genius.
Those are fan interpretations most of the time the artist doesn't give it's meaning
@@cynthialalalucien5711 I agree
it's an interesting take but it can also be a view of how deppression makes you incapable of taking action to change your situation hence formulating it as an illness and not simply a mindset that can be overcome by suggestion
@Lunatic MD this could be an anthom to the disparaged, harolding that suicide is alright
@@cynthialalalucien5711 I would say that's rarely the case.
how are these guys not more famous? One of my favorite bands ever.
George Kush same!! they are one of my favorite bands.. their sound is just incredible
George Kush
They're Starting
They're aptly named, huh?
How are they not more famous? Because they're music is just obscure enough that the lamesteam viewers can't understand them and with their LoFi quality it will never cross over.
I found them as new band a few years ago, wondered if gigging, next gig was Royal Albert Hall London. They are famous...
it sounds so depressing and nostalgic
Lacelyn now sure it’s a good thing, enjoyable certainly

just want to be the one comment under the 200+ liked comment. ignore.
I remember hearing this song in 3rd grade and having the song stuck in my head everyday at school my house and just everywhere. But over the years i forgot all about it and what the song was called. i have been looking for this song for 4years and Im forever grateful i found it brings back the best memories ive had :) This song will inspire me forever.
Guys don't hate the video! I understand the meaning of the video. It's like life, some people good to you, fix you, kiss you, and some hate you, slap you, torture you and you can't do anything with it, but in the end you'll still survive and you can wash all the scars.
+Nicholas Gerry Yeah, you fully understand this video. You really grasp the concept of what the makers were trying to say. The makers had one message for the world and you, with your unfathomable intellect, fully absorbed this as if it were your own. Preach, brother man.
+paranoia1337 must be a bad day, eh? wanna talk about it?
paranoia1337 Oh now I can't comment my opinion on UA-cam. Wow this world got so many rules :D
+paranoia1337 He was just saying what he thought the video meant... No need to be so harsh... Yikes man.
It is based on a true performance by Marina Abramovic
The melody at the start of this song sounds like the sunset of a really enjoyable day. One filled with joy!
When I first found UMO it was through the video for Swim and Sleep. At that time I was thinking woooooow the artists who made the video are so talented but the music wasnt my thing. Now the music still isnt really my thing but I have a deep respect for the musicians because every video that they have is SO amazing. It takes talent to hire talent and UMO has hired loads of talent. Im a fan
I wish more people could hear this song
I never get tired of this song. Its magical
Isolation can put a gun your in hand
It can put a gun in your hand
It can put a gun in your hand
If you need to, you can get away from the sun
You can get away from the sun
You can get away from the sun
If you need to, you can get away from the sun
If you need to, you can throw away the only one
I'm so tired, but I can never lay down my head
I can never lay down my head
I can never lay down my head
I'm so lonely, but I can never quite reach the phone
I can never quite reach the phone
I can never quite reach the phone
I'm so lonely, but I can never quite reach the phone
I'm so lonely, I've gotta eat my popcorn all alone
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Isolation can put a gun your in hand
It can put a gun in your hand
It can put a gun in your hand
If you need to, you can get away from the sun
You can get away from the sun
You can get away from the sun
If you need to, you can get away from the sun
If you need to, you can throw away the only one
Thank you
Ush
This song is fantastic. Video is amazing. Sounds like a modern Beatles to me
I'm 99% sure this was inspired on a work made years ago by a female artist where she sat and told the audience they could do whatever they wanted with her during a determinated period of time. If I'm right, could someone tell me the name of that artist?
+Valentina Hernández Águila I think youre talking about Marina Abramovich's work Rhythm 0
Thank u !
Yoko Ono did it first
There's some bits in the video where they've put some quirky dancing, soft kissing, etc. that are all reminiscent of Tino Sehgal
I looked Tino Sehgal up, and thankyou for the recommendation, it was beautiful! If you look up "contact improvisation" dancing, it's a very similiar style of dance to Tino's Kiss, and you might enjoy it.
I related the music video to the lyrics. He sings "isolation can put a gun in your hand, if you need to you can get away from the Sun". Getting away from the Sun means getting away from light, and therefore, from life. In astrology, Sun represents our Ego, our identity, so getting away from it would lead you to a life where anyone could say or think anything about you, or even do anything with you (and that's what the video shows, a guy who got away from the Sun and then everyone felt comfortable to slap, kiss, use, etc. him).
Sometimes, getting away from the Sun it's needed, to understand things that can only be understood this way. But staying too much away from it may be a little dangerous, that's why he sings "isolation can put a gun in your hand": when you get away from the Sun you make yourself vulnerable and because of that you may feel a need to isolate yourself, and isolation can easily lead to SUICIDE.
He also sings states of a person which has been a little too long away from the Sun, in other words, a person who has depressive symptoms: "i'm so tired, but i can never lay down my head, i'm so lonely but i can never quite reach the phone". And that's a perfect match for a person who lets anyone do what they please to her, that would be the guy in the chair in the video.
+Mateus Melo i love this
+Mateus Melo Things are mostly much simpler than this, maybe you're overthinking a little. But still, it makes sense
+Mateus Melo I thought it was a gun in your 'hand'?
+j5337 well, maybe. but psychedelic stuff usually goes along with overthinking 😉
bullshit, if their avoid isolation, their clipvideo and music must be like a john mayer, maroon5 or anything pop-ish. they subliminally support isolation :D
Listening to this again at the tail end of 1 1/2 years of quarantine hits different.
Your existence doesn't automatically grant you the luxury of a good life. Just don't take it for granted.
gnarly stuff
this reminds me of depression. the world is harsh and so are people but in the end your strong and you can allways make it. this is coming from a depressed teen your not alone out there
what good is my answer its the internet
Just let people live it's the internet people can be as open or as dramatic as they want to be, either way in every scenario you responding like that kind of makes you look rude. Just be like me and silently judge them responding isn't gonna do anything except make people attack you.
Who else is listening to this a year (plus) into quarantine?
I love them so much. why don't they have a million views?
Been a while but they finally do!
one of the worst naughty chairs I've ever seen
marina abramovic just popped into my mind whilst watching this haha
i mean the video is inspired by her
I wanna look her up ;-;
This video says it all!
Such a dark song in all aspects to me, this is exactly what I feel when I think I am inexorably alone and I have to make an effort to make contact with the outside, otherwise I'll go mad; 'Isolation can put a gun in your head'
Jeane Sorel its so weird that people think of this as a sad or dark song, in contrary it makes me feel happy like it reminds me of being on vacation in a sunny place. But there is some kind of dreamy melancholy in this where i feel ya.
As an objective art project, this video is brilliant!
what a zappaesque guitar solo at the end RIP Zappa
hermosisisisima cancion!
1:02 in the music reminds me a lot of Bibio. Love the audio production on the intro.
I've listened to this Song about 1000 times and I just realized that i think this Video is about an Empath

It's been five years my sweet melody.

This is amazing music I guess I've been living in a cave under a rock because I'm just finding out about this band
I've gotta eat my popcorn all alone
You will always be my favorite artist group
Hermoso Tema
The algorithm seems to know I'm in quarantine right now.
This songs just fits too well. First it felt quite good to get a break from my busy life but after a while I felt like the world forgot about me and doesn't need me anymore. I got more tired but couldn't fall asleep and had no energy to call someone or answer messages. Two more days. This song lifted my spirit. Thanks algorithm and thanks UMO.

Omgoodness!! Absolutely love u guys. Ruben, you are unique and extremely talented. 🖤✨🎶
So weird, I played this song for my parents today and they said it sounded like The Beatles too. I guess I never really noticed... :D
Yup! Take a listen to "Dear Prudence" (ua-cam.com/video/wQA59IkCF5I/v-deo.html) and most of the White Album.
First thing I said about it. Those opening vocals are so psychedelia era Beatles. Immediately made me think of Prudence or Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
Poops DO have sex
Some beatles taste
Kid Bengala wut da u men
you guys sound great!
you always think have a choice but it's all up to your feet
Wow I love this video
Wow this band is really cool
woah *speechless*
Really cool vibes in this :)
this had quite the impact when I randomly came across it in 2016
To this day I can't tell if I was justified in feeling it described me or if I was just too edgy to _not_ feel it was
I like it!
This video is very helpful! Thank you!!!
Nice. Just heard live last night
anyone else think this sounds really Beatles-y? good song.
Joseph Smithe it definitely is. the whole album is beatlesy in my opinion
the whole album is what it is. the beatles sound like the beatles
I'm not sure anyone has ever sounded as Beatlesy since the Beatles? Backing vocals remind me of happiness is a warm gun. Maybe that's just me though. ...or the narcotics
I had this on automatic play and when it came out I thought it was some Beatles song I didn't hear before, then I saw it was UMO.
John Lennon for sure
if this is you at work, its time to join the UMO
I've listened to this song in the psychiatric hospital a lot, like, all the time because I had very few songs on my shitty mp4.
shia lebeouf aslo tried doing a similar art piece in which fans could do whatever they wanted to him

Happy 10 years and thanks too.

Asombroso concepto del video
Between 2:42 and 2:43 you can see he's about to laugh before the scene is cut xD
This is deep. Like looking into a mirror. I reached a point where I just let everyone walk all over me and the only one that tried to love me was my girlfriend.
Que flashero!!!!!!!!!
My interpretation of the video is basically a group therapy session, in which people are coming to help somebody (Our guy sitting in the chair) suffering from depression and lethargy, Feel Something. Anything.
That's why everyone comes together and tries all kinds of different tactics, good and bad-- weird even, Just to get some kind of reaction out of him and wake him up from his apathetic state, one way or another.
And by the end it might not necessarily have worked just then, but he gets up and walks off, and prepares again to try another attempt at getting better and feeling something. In what will likely become another and more sessions of Therapy.
When your depressed you lose your sense of agency. You no longer feel you’re in control of anything. I guess the video is portraying the feeling of powerlessness, impotence and misery. When you no longer care what happens.
He won't divide us.
Oh the video reminds me when i was in art school we discussed almost same piece of Performance Art, it was called "Rythm 0" probably one or the most terrifying Performance in art history. It reveals one persons deepest darkest desire. And it didn't end up well.
Boy I can really relate to this song now im in #selfisolation due to covid-19!
Song for lockdown
Don’t touch, this is art ✨

Space Oddity... Staaarman !

Este video me recuerda a una obra de Marina Abramovic...
This is one of those songs where you can feel it all so much that it scares you when you see the true nature of it
I'm gonna take my life to this song

it gets a bit deeper when you realize his fighter cauliflower ears, kind of metaphoric with the struggle of chronic depression
