Too many shit Honda’s out there but a D series (lowest potential output) with a good build will still shit on “fast cars” while getting 35mpg. Reliable 10 second cars for $10,000.
For a good sleeper list to add on: The 90s Impala, looks soooo boring but will surprise supercars with the right mods (*cough* turbo *cough) The G35 sedan, I know, a VQ, but fun fact, the 2003 G35 sedan is LIGHTER than the G35 coupe, and that VQ can make power (with the right mods like turbo and add some forged internals) like the GT-R, in a lighter chassis! The Miata from any year, you can pretty much do anything with it, LS swap, Coyote Swap, add Dorito power, and even turbo it! It’s light and you do not need a lot of horsepower to make it quick, and, they are cheap to do (sometimes) I cannot believe I’m going to say this, but the Honda Civic, you can seriously make a sleeper out of a Civic, with the V-Tec engine, you can build it up for a cheap price and tear up the drag strip, just as long as you don’t add -5 camber and an exhaust that looks like a smoke stack.
Most of them, probably not. But as far as the mazdaspeeds, you can absolutely find stock examples , with low miles and a decent price. Just gotta know where to look
@@Starfurexxed Where do you do weight reduction on a 4th Gen? Just strip the interior? You could do a swap, but it would be expensive. They never came with manuals and they weigh 4,200 lbs approximately. A manual swap on a 4th Gen with a manual transmission from an FJ to mate it up to the V6 is about $7 grand according to someone who did it on a T4R forum, if I'm remembering it right. I may not be.
@@Starfurexxed Whose going to drift a 4Runner? Also V8 models aren't super easy to find not are they cheap. I found a base model V8 for $8 grand with 200,000 miles on it.
I had the 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 ! Aftermarket cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust! AWD ! Got it up to only 330 whp! Can switch to 70% power to the rear wheels.. Very difficult stick to drive though.. Nasty fast!! Super fun and capable!! Actually you can get zero to 60 in 4.5 !! I’ve beaten SRT8’s !! Sedan was only made for 2 years unfortunately.. But at least now we pretty much have it back except it’s a Mazda 3 turbo Skyactiv AWD so that’s pretty much it!!
A '95 Hyundai Accent took down a Mk4 Supra at the drag strip in Puerto Rico so I wouldn't be quick to assume not every car is a Supra killer coz I saw it with my own eyes.
Stock-for-stock, Id be willing to bet that the MS3 could handle a Supra on a race course. Why’s everybody act like the Supra is the second coming of Jesus? They only made 320hp stock.
@@Loudest_Cricket_ I know right!!! I always hear people say "Supras are FAST!!!" To which I always reply "Supras can be made to be fast lol" Stock form, they're pretty average
Here's something literally everyone overlooks, a 2003- 2007 Honda accord 4cyl with a 5 speed. It's got the basic double wishbone suspension all around, it's everywhere, and without even having a turbo it's possible to get an 80hp increase from 160-240 using a better intake and exhaust header. Another sleeper, an Acura TL with AWD and a 6 speed, those are some cars that hide some really good potential
Mr. human 80hp for an intake and exhaust? Lmfao not a chance. K series have a lot of potential, but they aren't some magical engine that get 80hp for an intake and exhaust
If you ask for my opinion, it was one of my favourite sports compact, the Dodge Neon SRT-4 and the Buick Regal GNX. Plus I'm really, really happy that you've mentioned the Eagle Talon TSI. Honestly, I love DSM's cars but I prefer more on less known cars as I also like low profile but packed with powerful engine cars.
Nissan Maxima SE manual is an insane tuner car, this thing with a turbo has enough power to take a GT-R, it’s a cheap car that is fast already and great for tuning!
96-99 maxima and Infiniti i30.2,800 lbs and 200 hp with an available 5 speed manual makes it a pretty badass sleeper.also good for a low 15 or high 14 second pass in the 1/4 mile.
The 850 T5 is almost the same car, the first use g15 turbo and t5-R g16, when R comes along T5 also has G16... Only ECU map is different, but get a $90 chip and get 300HP from either of them. T5 is ALOT cheaper...
My first real sleeper... 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier. Base model. 2 doors. Manual locks/windows. 5 speed. Arrival blue, mint condtion. 300FWHP properly tuned, not a single component left stock from the fuel pump/wiring to the engine/trans mounts, brake/clutch lines, etc. That blower screamed like a banshee and it surprised a lot of high power cars to the point I had people asking me to pull over to talk about it... Unfortunately its rarity also meant it had a lack of tuning support..so I basically abandoned that platform (Jbody). Now I just sport my turbo Miata (91, 300rwhp) and daily driven 2016 Focus ST (FBO, tuned). I really would love another Cavalier...as a car guy..thats something you don't hear often! (especially since I love a nice V8 RWD too!)
The Cobalt SS would be a great budget sleeper. The 2.0 that came in the Supercharged version is surprisingly strong. 500HP on a stock pistons and rods is not uncommon . You can pick up the 05-07 SS for pennies. The 08-2010 SS is the most underrated FWD ever build. 260HP from the factroy. Brembos, launch control, no lift shift was almost unheard of for any car at the time. $6K can get you into a very clean one.
The best under rated sleeper car in my opinion is the Suzuki Cultus GTi it shares the same body as the Geo Metro but has a 1.3 DOHC 4 banger and AWD. Slap on a turbo and with just a little bit of boost you can bump this little lightweight car to the same power to weight ratio at the Lamborghini Diablo.
Should have replaced the Saab 9²x with the Saab 9³ TurboX. It's an AWD 2.8T V6 Sport Sedan/ Wagon with LSD, 275hp, huge brakes and was made to go head to head with the ExoX and STIs of it's time 🤷🏾♂️
@@CalgaryCooper also less than 300 were sent to the US. Split between Auto/Manual and Sport Sedan/Wagon. All black with unique wheels and carbon fiber bits too
@@Akuyah.official they did, but I did some reading and only 39 manual wagons were ever built. While a sweet car, the rareness makes it not fit the idea of this video. Still a sweet car though, I'd love to find one.
Definately the Volvo 850 wagon. But the good ones are far from cheap, at least in germany. I imported mine from switzerland, 1 owner (elderly lady), full service history, absolutely no rust. It's not an R though, it's a 2,5 Turbo AWD. I've done a few things to enhance the performance a little bit ( bigger Turbo and exhaust, injectors, mapping, coilovers, etc ), but the overall appearance is fairly stock. It's absolutely priceless when that old boxy wagon doesn't dissappear in the rear view mirror on the autobahn.
@InnerGuide About as reliable as a Subaru Wrx Sti. Almost the same issues. I got rid of my Speed6 because the rings were stuck and it was consuming oil at a high rate. Bought it with 20,000 miles on it. Started having issues with it around 100,000 miles.
Nobody said Mazda only made one good car, and Mazda 3 is not a wagon, it's more of a hatchback, or sportback maybe Also Volvo didn't just "once" made a spicy car, the whole Polestar lineup is pretty impressive
I own a speed6 and have had it for over a year now. It is such a hidden gem. I bought it for 4,500 and put about 15,000 into the car for repairs and modding, dyno'd at 412whp. The car is torquey as fuck and pulls like hell. It also has a very deep, throaty exhaust note. The transmission is bulletproof and can handle power. Every friend I have driven in it talks about how insane the car is for only 19,500$ CANADIAN! I personally think it looks very nice and the higher trim GT models have very nice interiors and amenities for the price. A true hidden jem for sure
The forester xts were just de-tuned stis and we’re just as capable as the 92x. My favorite sleeper to look for on marketplace are s60rs-300hp awd 6speed manual and I’ve found like 6 in the past year for less than $4500
I had a 1990 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD and I bought mine bone stock. Before long it had an Evo III B16g turbo, 660cc injectors, 2g 609 MAF, DSMLink, full 3" cat-less exhaust, with the boost turned up to 20 psi, and that car was so much fun. If you knew how to launch an AWD car, it pulled so hard to 7k rpm. I also had a 1992 Plymouth Colt hatchback that I swapped a built 6 bolt 4g63t into and it put down 443 whp and at 2200 lbs, you can imagine that car was pretty fast. Now I have a 612 whp EJ8 Civic coupe...it weighs roughly 2500 lbs...and scares tf out of even me.
My sleeper was my 97 cougar . Patriot heads , compcams,Vic jr intake , fuel system , teksid block , 175dry shot , 410 gears , built trans ..it ran 11s on street tires and suspension with full interior and subs n all
I got a Mercedes c32amg stripped of all decals, that have a smaler pulley weel and it is re mapped and 250kmh limiter removed, I love that car. Ca 400bhp😀
Hasan Genc Yes I had a lot of fun, the only tells is the exhaust pipes , rims and break calipers, I have removed the decales so it is basically imposible to see that it is a C32AMG , I have killed a lot of Audi, Bmw and other cars that think that it is a ordynary c class, the smaler pully weel and the remaping is giving it even more power, I love that car👍😂
Currently sitting in a library and I look up and see somebody watching an ideal video and it’s taking everything in me not to get up and say something to the guy.💀
My B-series CRX drops 300hp to the wheels with less than $3500 in the car, bought it with the B16 in it for $800 450cc injectors, e-85, turbo, exhaust, and tune. Added a lightweight flywheel and harmonic balancer just cause I had them around and the thing rips hard. Weighs just over 1900lbs with me in it. Haven’t found a BMW that could keep up with it yet.
For a British sleeper car the MG Maestro turbo was a winner. Usually driven by grandads and available in hearing aid beige, MG fitted a sweet looking body kit and the 2.0 turbo from its bigger brother the Montego. With 150 horses available it was faster than a contemporary Ferrari and fitting the later version of the 2.0 engine, the T16 turbo, would boost power to over 200 with potential for much more
Saab 9-3 Viggen. 240hp stock. Had a 300hp modified in Lightning Blue....stunning to look at and it kicked ass. Made for 2 years in limited numbers...Look it up.
My choice would be either the Mazda Speed 6/Eagle Talon TSI AWD Turbo or the Saab 9-2X Aero. If in case you want more, then how about *DODGE NEON SRT-4/CHEVROLET COBALT SS TURBOCHARGED?*
I once had an Nissan S14a Limited Edition in Germany. 2 liter turbo engine has so much tuning capability. Not really a sleeper but compared to a GTR you could say so
Just get a vick. Cheap easy to work on and when they break just bring it into the garage and frankenstien it back to life. It will still pure like a kitten.
Mk4 Volkswagen gli it’s a 4 door sedan with factory racing seats, factory bbs rcs, a six speed and a good deal of power. I have a stage 2 2004 gli and there is nothing better than shooting flames at big shots in their loud trucks
A citroen C5 exclusive, that puts out stock around 170 hp from a 2.2 liter 4 banger diesel engiene but it can get to 400 easily and makes a 0-60 run in around 6.5 seconds bone stock. Most citroens only got only 110 hp but as mentioned this is an exclusive model with more power. Stock it puts down 370 nm of torque and most of the people do not know that these cars can do more than just look luxurious and be cheap. It also has an integrated suspension setting from normal to sport in order to challenge the corners. Its height can also be adjusted from low to high and you can even integrate an awd system for more grip. A definite sleeper for me with lots of potential that should be mentioned.
Very happy Jaguar XFR owner here, but an even better sleeper is the XF Supercharged. They don't look as fast as the XFR but a pulley, exhaust, & tune will get around 600 hp out of that 5.0 Supercharged V8! You can find the 2010's for under $10k!
In Australia, one of the best sleepers is a JDM U13 Nissan Bluebird SSS ATTESA. It has a factory SR20DET and AWD. They are rare here and it looks almost identical to the boring grandpa spec U13 Bluebird SSS that was available here with only a naturally aspirated 2.4 litre 4 cylinder FWD so is so often mistaken for it and not given a second glance. The Mazda’s were sold here as MPS3 and MPS6, They we’re both “halo” cars of the range, so generally recognised as such which takes away from their sleeper status. The MPS3 was actually the quickest car Mazda Australia sold at the time. The VR4 Galant stood out for its individual shape quite easily here, that people of an age who know what they are will recognise it straight away, and people born later than that will not necessarily know what it is, but it will still stand out to them because of its individual shape.
Lexus sc400 4.0 liter v8 1uz engine (typically swapped into pro drift cars) putting down ab 250 hp stock with the 1uz being able to handle a little over 400 whp on stock internals.
The 8th gen civic si I think is the cheapest way to go fast today besides the Saab 9-3 aerox. I got mine for 3k and a header, intake, and tune later and I'm making 220 wheel
Brought a mazda 323 1989 model 240k miles on the clock with the flippy up light. Cost me £60 in 2005. It had a 1.8 twin cam engine and definatly wasn't stock. Was unexpectedly fast. Hence why I blew it up after a month of abuse.
i finally found a 2ga tsi only took 11 years to find one that ran good came with all the bolt ons and i dropped $7k on it bout it for $2800 now its a 500bhp car i daily drive

Hell yeah bro VAG guys unite

Because they suck

*Allow me to introduce myself
Oh dear God. Who the hell doesn't know about Honda? Nothing special, you see them around every corner.
Lmao Honda omg gtfo
@@interceptingfist5682 he's talking about the civic bois
Too many shit Honda’s out there but a D series (lowest potential output) with a good build will still shit on “fast cars” while getting 35mpg. Reliable 10 second cars for $10,000.
For a good sleeper list to add on:
The 90s Impala, looks soooo boring but will surprise supercars with the right mods (*cough* turbo *cough)
The G35 sedan, I know, a VQ, but fun fact, the 2003 G35 sedan is LIGHTER than the G35 coupe, and that VQ can make power (with the right mods like turbo and add some forged internals) like the GT-R, in a lighter chassis!
The Miata from any year, you can pretty much do anything with it, LS swap, Coyote Swap, add Dorito power, and even turbo it! It’s light and you do not need a lot of horsepower to make it quick, and, they are cheap to do (sometimes)
I cannot believe I’m going to say this, but the Honda Civic, you can seriously make a sleeper out of a Civic, with the V-Tec engine, you can build it up for a cheap price and tear up the drag strip, just as long as you don’t add -5 camber and an exhaust that looks like a smoke stack.
Yeah... been throwinga round the idea of a turbo miata... but i hear they are still pretty lethargic :/
@@IdealMediaChannel well... depends... there is a vid of a miata accelerating... with a boat stick 😂😁
Good luck finding any of these cars for a decent price or that haven't already been beat to shit
Most of them, probably not. But as far as the mazdaspeeds, you can absolutely find stock examples , with low miles and a decent price. Just gotta know where to look
@@Starfurexxed Why? I mean I own a 4Runner but idk what it has to do with sleepers.
Starfurexxed explain please
Love my Mazdaspeed3, glad it’s getting some love with the mazdaspeed6!
My 6 is over 600hp
”Supra killer”😂 yes Said no Mazda owner ever
if it shoots flames... it might be a supra broiler!
I always hear people say "Supras are FAST!!!"
To which I always reply "Supras can be made to be fast lol"

Yea I own a 96 baltic blie mkiv i dont have 1000hp, i like the handling and the looks i dont care for track there i have another car😂

Those cars are amazing!! Galant vr4 mazda MPS mitsubishi eclipse (JDM) 😂😍
lets goooo!
@@Trevor274 actually yeah an RBC intake and proper exhaust as well as a tune brings great results
30 hp max bro and that’s fucking stretching it
My sleeper back in the day was a VW corrado
i love those!
Vw is understandable but not madza madza a crap
Corrado G60 ❤
I have a Mark3 Jetta that is VR6 swapped and big turbo. Picked up at auction
Might pick up a 96 VR6 Passat Wagon
If you ask for my opinion, it was one of my favourite sports compact, the Dodge Neon SRT-4 and the Buick Regal GNX. Plus I'm really, really happy that you've mentioned the Eagle Talon TSI. Honestly, I love DSM's cars but I prefer more on less known cars as I also like low profile but packed with powerful engine cars.
Top cars that age like fine wine
'ideal' cars that age like fine wine :)

He lost all my respect when he called a Mazda 3 a wagon.
Sorrrrry
Im sure he'll miss your respect 🙄
Brandon S lmfao right?
He lost mine when he said you could finance a 2006 mazda speed 6 that sells for 5k $ at 60 months, don't listen to jack shit from this guy lmao.
Any car can be a supercar slayer, you need funds lol
If only supercars were easy to upgrade to the max , that way nobody will bother to do mad upgrades in a JDM
@@hybridShinx a supercars goes by the same rules as normal cars. So you can mod then the same.
1997 Lincoln mark 8 lsc is totally under rated and fast for what it is!!! And looks great.
super sick to see the speed6 getting the love it deserves I love mine
Nissan Maxima SE manual is an insane tuner car, this thing with a turbo has enough power to take a GT-R, it’s a cheap car that is fast already and great for tuning!

my favorite sleeper of all time was the 85 golf gti 🔥
N54 e90 335i if no one knows the dual tips then they think they’re racing a 328
Once of the best tuner car out there bro , BMW 335i e90 N54👏👏👏🔥🔥
96-99 maxima and Infiniti i30.2,800 lbs and 200 hp with an available 5 speed manual makes it a pretty badass sleeper.also good for a low 15 or high 14 second pass in the 1/4 mile.
I‘m always telling people the 850r is one of the best deals and sleeper
BeXdN 03 any ideas where I can look for one for a good price ?
In Italy a 850r it’s like 20k $ 😢
i snag over yew i dont know where u live because i live in Germany and i only know where(on what internetsides) we put cars on sale in Germany
The 850 T5 is almost the same car, the first use g15 turbo and t5-R g16, when R comes along T5 also has G16... Only ECU map is different, but get a $90 chip and get 300HP from either of them.
T5 is ALOT cheaper...
I love my 1995 850t wagon!
I love seeing the Mazdaspeed 3 getting some love now
The Cobalt SS would be a great budget sleeper.
I would have chosen a Mazda protege5 wagon as my sleeper with a mazdaspeed engine swap
It's an AWD 2.8T V6 Sport Sedan/ Wagon with LSD, 275hp, huge brakes and was made to go head to head with the ExoX and STIs of it's time 🤷🏾♂️
WOW!! that thing is SIICK!
Did they come in manuals?
@@CalgaryCooper Sure did!
Em Ka 🥰😍😘... Grüße aus Leipzig!
I would take the Mazdaspeed 6 ! Had one for 10 years really fun to drive.
What are they in Australia?
@InnerGuide About as reliable as a Subaru Wrx Sti. Almost the same issues. I got rid of my Speed6 because the rings were stuck and it was consuming oil at a high rate. Bought it with 20,000 miles on it. Started having issues with it around 100,000 miles.
@@baileyacklingbeecham9793 Mazda6 MPS
Nobody said Mazda only made one good car, and Mazda 3 is not a wagon, it's more of a hatchback, or sportback maybe
Also Volvo didn't just "once" made a spicy car, the whole Polestar lineup is pretty impressive
my favorite cheap sleeper is the Mazda speed 6
I own a speed6 and have had it for over a year now. It is such a hidden gem. I bought it for 4,500 and put about 15,000 into the car for repairs and modding, dyno'd at 412whp. The car is torquey as fuck and pulls like hell. It also has a very deep, throaty exhaust note. The transmission is bulletproof and can handle power. Every friend I have driven in it talks about how insane the car is for only 19,500$ CANADIAN! I personally think it looks very nice and the higher trim GT models have very nice interiors and amenities for the price. A true hidden jem for sure
I got clickbaited thinking my zoom 3 can be actually tuned into something great
But nope its the speed 3/6
The forester xts were just de-tuned stis and we’re just as capable as the 92x. My favorite sleeper to look for on marketplace are s60rs-300hp awd 6speed manual and I’ve found like 6 in the past year for less than $4500
He said "finance 5 grand over 60 months"
Ummmmm. Come up with a better strategy for life.
Damn😯...over here in Austria 🇦🇹 used cars are never that cheap😢
My sleeper was my 97 cougar .
Patriot heads , compcams,Vic jr intake , fuel system , teksid block , 175dry shot , 410 gears , built trans ..it ran 11s on street tires and suspension with full interior and subs n all
I got a Mercedes c32amg stripped of all decals, that have a smaler pulley weel and it is re mapped and 250kmh limiter removed, I love that car. Ca 400bhp😀
C32 is a badass underrated sleeper man
Looks like a stock c class, mod it and eat m3s from a roll
Hasan Genc
Yes I had a lot of fun, the only tells is the exhaust pipes , rims and break calipers, I have removed the decales so it is basically imposible to see that it is a C32AMG , I have killed a lot of Audi, Bmw and other cars that think that it is a ordynary c class, the smaler pully weel and the remaping is giving it even more power, I love that car👍😂
Currently sitting in a library and I look up and see somebody watching an ideal video and it’s taking everything in me not to get up and say something to the guy.💀

My dad had a ultimate sleeper.
Volvo v70r v2 (300 horses stock) tuned it to 500,
It was an amazing car and he sold it for 4,5grand
my favorite would be a Infiniti g35
coupe or sedan?
@@IdealMediaChannel coupe

G37X Sedan!
Sedan is lighter but coupe had slightly better handles
My B-series CRX drops 300hp to the wheels with less than $3500 in the car, bought it with the B16 in it for $800 450cc injectors, e-85, turbo, exhaust, and tune. Added a lightweight flywheel and harmonic balancer just cause I had them around and the thing rips hard. Weighs just over 1900lbs with me in it. Haven’t found a BMW that could keep up with it yet.
to me, a underrated tuner is the veloster turbo, the old gen
_ Yajido _ yeaaaa no
How?! It’s runs a 6.2!!! Lololol fuck outta here
For a British sleeper car the MG Maestro turbo was a winner. Usually driven by grandads and available in hearing aid beige, MG fitted a sweet looking body kit and the 2.0 turbo from its bigger brother the Montego. With 150 horses available it was faster than a contemporary Ferrari and fitting the later version of the 2.0 engine, the T16 turbo, would boost power to over 200 with potential for much more
1.9tdi VW engine aahahaha
LoL
He have a lot of the greta ragers jajjajajajja
Saab 9-3 Viggen. 240hp stock. Had a 300hp modified in Lightning Blue....stunning to look at and it kicked ass. Made for 2 years in limited numbers...Look it up.
Volvo c30 manuals are pretty good to.
especially the polestar models!
An acura rsx with the k series can hold alot of boost stock. And they sound great
Mitsubishi made the rvr a turbo manual at one point so a 4g63t manual AWD ugly sleeper
My choice would be either the Mazda Speed 6/Eagle Talon TSI AWD Turbo or the Saab 9-2X Aero.
If in case you want more, then how about *DODGE NEON SRT-4/CHEVROLET COBALT SS TURBOCHARGED?*
I've seen a honda civic turbo kill all of them... lol 😂 and still cheaper

Saab aero but the v6 turbo version that’s awd. I think it’s actually called the Saab aero X. Very very rare.
I clicked bc of the speed 3 😍
did you stay because the vid was ideal?! :)
Volkswagen golf r 2010+
how reliable are those?
Ideal Media its german so very reliable
My sleeper back then was a 96 200sx/Sentra.
It had a VVL SR20 and I loved people's reactions when I opened her up.
The 1989 Ford Probe GT Turbo with the 2.2l i4 n 5 spd manual trans was my amazing gem for many yrs and easily tuneable for 300+ hp for way cheap
BMW 335D. Others have probably mentioned it, but it such a great car and a sleeper.
Mitsubishi Colt z27 series with 4G15T are so underrated world wide.. but once modded and tuned, its a different story
When you're talkin about an eagle talon and a Mitsubishi Eclipse never forget the Plymouth Laser.
That Veyron in the intro was definitely holding out. Like definitely
Brought a mazda 323 1989 model 240k miles on the clock with the flippy up light. Cost me £60 in 2005. It had a 1.8 twin cam engine and definatly wasn't stock. Was unexpectedly fast. Hence why I blew it up after a month of abuse.
