Michale Graves era Misfits (Mosh Pit and the Pendulum)

- Michale Graves was the replacement of Glenn Danzig. Were the Misfits still good? Debatably they were just as great. They fused metal with their signature horror punk and increased production values. Albums such as American Psycho, Famous Monsters, and Cuts from the Crypt define a gnarly era of the monsters known as Misfits!

I like misfits with Graves. Dig up her bones is one of my favs.
Me too bro!!!
shes a girl lol
Mine too.
Mine too dude.
Shining is the best graves era song (in my opinion)
What about Helena on Famous Monsters? That song has a dark horror romance story, and it's heavy as hell.
Hell yeah man!
Saturday night is also my favorite song from famous monsters.
The song is so sad, romantic and beautiful.
Not gonna lie, Famous Monsters is my all time fav Misfits album!
Josh Evans Me too! Almost all of the songs of that record are amazing!
Famous Monsters is fantastic
Me too bro, Famous Monsters its just a Master Piece, the album that got me into Misfits too
Same
Josh Evans love famous monsters but can’t downplay America psycho
I like all Misfits but you can't beat the Danzig stuff, in my opinion. I would say Graves is a better vocalist but the Danzig songs are just flat out better.
I remember my English teacher put Black Flag Rise Above and taking the lyrics into more details for an assignment we were doing
Phzomis My history teacher did that for One
my junior year i did my final project on the way Chuck Schuldiner used monsters as allegories for social issues. so much fun
Saturday Night is probably the most unique of the misfits entire canon, it was the first song of them that I heard and it won me over to Graves
dead kings rise and bruiser from cuts from the crypt are sick
I like Dr Phibes with vocals
Yep Famous Monsters was childhood. I really like Graves.
I like the Graves era he has a good voice in his own right. Danzig shoes aren’t anything anyone could fill.
Saturday night is my favorite song!!!
My Top Graves Songs
Famous Monsters :
Saturday Night
Helena
Forbidden Zone
American Psycho:
Shining
Dig Up Her Bones
American Psycho
Crawling eye, Saturday night, scream and descending angel I can listen to now a days.
Let's be honest, if Famous Monsters was written by anyone else, it would have set the punk rock scene alight, but in the true elitist rock fan, so many people have written it off without listening to it
Gotta remember this Misfits was a different band altogether. I prefer the older albums, but have no problem jamming Don’t Open til Doomsday, Dig Up Her Bones, The Hunger, or Saturday Night.
I do like both Misfits with Danzig & misfits with Graves but I definitely like the Danzig stuff more
What about Helena?
Great song.
That's my favorite song on Famous Monsters
That's what everyone says. Most Misfits fans I note hate Michale's guts but still like Helena.
It's pretty terrible, not to mention they stole Metallica riffs for it. I like a lot of the Graves-era but Helena is dreadful.
Great song! That was pretty much the band letting Doyle do his thing on guitar. He was writing more metal style songs much like what you hear with his Solo music today. Saying they stole Metallica riffs for it made me laugh. Not true at all
American Psycho is one of the absolute best albums I own. I fucking love Michale Graves that man is my musical hero.
Famous Monsters
The albim which introduced me
To 'em
My favorite too.
I like Danzig Classics
But i still thinking
They were better with Michale
Even if Danzig was the first.
Basically this
Famous Monsters is fckn sick 🤘🏻. Two of my favorite Misfits songs, Fiend Club and Dust To Dust.
Will you do a Danzig Era review? From Static Age (or cough/cool) through Earth A.D?
Helloween reunited with Hansen and Kiske and now they have three guitarists and two lead singers and it works. Imagine if Misfits did the same and started playing with both Graves and Danzig. What a great lineup it would be!
My favorite era. The famous monsters is just 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾🤚
Scarecrow Man is one of my favorite songs of Famous Monster.
I love both eras equally :)
Famous monsters was probably my favorite
To me static age was their and my best album ever
The fact you see Saturday night as a lover song may reveal worrying things about you
I actually really liked forbidden zone quite a bit it was my favorite song on the album
Ironic how similar these debates are to Di'Anno vs Dickinson of Iron Maiden. The original singer gave a unique punk vibe, as well as making their bands instantly recognizable (Paul and Glenn). Nothing could ever beat the debut and first records. HOWEVER with Michale and Bruce they gave the band a more complete and heavier sound, and well their vocal skills were technically superior... Up the Misfits and Irons!
I know this video is old, but it's bothering me you didn't mention Helena. One of my favorite songs on there. And you can't forget Fiend Club
Personally I think American Psycho has more filler than Famous Monsters. I think Famous Monsters is near perfect front to back.
Bruiser and Fiend without a Face are Graves best work with the Misfits
Graves vocals are unique
I get the pun when u said "resurrection" 😂
Even though Danzig is classic, I still LOVE Graves era of The Misfits. And I agree with your comparison to GWAR's Hell-O. It's great to hear someone talking about the Graves albums without dissing them just because "it's not Danzig !"
Have you considered reviewing the old Danzig albums?
Someday
I like Graves era more, but I like Danzig as well, I think for me its just because of my age, Graves was the voice of the misfits as I was getting into my early teens and just starting to get into music my first era of punk was 90s era, Green Day, Offspring, Rancid, Graves/Misfits, Pennywise, Lagwagon etc
Misfits is the Metallica of Punk
I prefer Graves over Danzing. sorry and shit lol but famous monsters made me a fan.
There are 2 different bands called the Misfits. 1 is fronted by Danzig. 1 is fronted by Graves. There is also a band I call Jerry Only and Friends, which covers Misfits songs anytime that Jerry runs his one of a kind singers off.
* Snort * XD
I prefer the Danzig ear🖤🤘🏼not to big on Graves and Jerry. But I do like, Dig up her bones and Scream
also what are your thoughts on Danzig's other band Samhain?
danzigs ear is pretty nice
Loving your videos man!!
Graves was my favourite misfits vocalist, loved them two albums although the song fiend club is one of my personally most hated song from any band ever, makes me absolutely cringe.
I like Famous Monsters better than American Psycho. It sounded a lot cleaner and heavier than American Psycho, and it had less filler and more catchy songs. Michale's vocals sounded a lot better. His calm, clean voice combined with the heavy, bassy guitar and bass sounded great.
I feel like American Psycho had a bit of First Album Syndrome, which you also see on Static Age for example. The band hadn't quite found their sound yet, and you could hear that the band was experimenting more. Another symptom of First Album Syndrome is that the production is very raw and the playing is sloppier than on the later albums. This was also the case for American Psycho.
what do you think about killswitch engage and metalcore?
I'm not really into metalcore. However, Killswitch is a good band (even if they're not the style I'm into). Gotta enjoy their riffs. I will say that metalcore has probably gotten better over the years, as the pig squealing seems to have died down. Plus, the death/metal-core bands at summer slaughter this year were of good quality so I guess it differs from band to band.
0:53- Mickey Mouse.
I've just "discovered" Graves Misfit s. I dismissed them when they were out because my nephew liked them. I didn't care much for Danzig era Misfits. My band covered their Last Caress but I changed all the lyrics to make it about Diffrent Strokes. It's just funnier raping Phillip Drummond than somebody mother.
Saturday night,Forbidden zone,Scream,Descending angel....famous monsters is such a great album.
I really respect this
Love them
I respectfully disagree and say Famous is better than American. I enjoy the increased diversity on Famous versus the cookie cutter copies on American. In the end though I don't regret owning either and took them both to get signed at Misfits show I went to a few years ago
Isabel Griffiths just Jerry. I had him sign a copy of Cuts From The Crypt too. I'm one of those purists that believe only the people who contribute to an album should sign it. I wouldn't even let Danzig sign a 90's album from them lol
What's the deal with this album on vinyl? It's expensive, haven't seen it for under $100.
Have you tried Discogs? I've seen it slightly cheaper there
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack Eventually found it for a reasonable price
Literary agree with everything this man has said. Dead Kings Rise !
Danzig era for me.
Fair assessment
saturday night is the best song for sure
Fuck knows how many times I’ve watched this video 😂
famous monsters is my fav graves era album
Love “helena”
@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack "Them" is my favorite track
...better production, better playing by Only, Doyle, and Chud. Lyrics are generally better with Danzig. Props to Descending Angel, Dig Up Her Bones, Saturday Night, Helena, Scream, and a few others.
i honestly prefer the graves era
Randomly came across this video. I want to give it a like but you're literally sitting at 666 likes and I don't want to be the one to ruin that :D
Graves era was the best era of Misfits
Hey i'm going to buy my first metal tshirt and my age is 14.I really love death but i can't choose which tshirt i can buy there is a logo tshirt like yours and there are some album tshirts.Do you have a suggestion?
I like the later logo because I prefer the later albums. However, the logo from the first three albums with the blood/spiders/death head looks more visually pleasing. I used to have a Death shirt where the back of it had the Spiritual Healing lineup. Maybe you can look into that!
Killbot&GorGorAttack!! Thanks! And ı found one with the first logo on it and the album cover of sound of preseverance!! :D
You missed out Evillive II (1998).
Worst album I've ever listen.
Hey if you own a battle jacket. Can you make a video showing it.
You get to see it in "Ramones: Vinyl Review" and the end of "Metal ASMR," but perhaps I'll give it it's own video at some point >:D
Thank you and keep up the good work.
Saturday night is a great song
Graves era is awesome
1,000,000 Years BC and Devil Doll should’ve been on Famous Monsters
Your wrong Famous Monsters is a master piece.
I need that GWAR poster
I’ve never agreed with someone more. Great review 🤘
I like both but I lean more towards the graves era cuz I do like the monster b movie lyrics and the I guess complicated guitar riffs for punk music it gives me a thrashy vibe to them to like D.R.I sounds but with ramones type vocals I guess
You forgot one graves Era album. EVILIVE 2!
I prefer the danzig era. But forbidden zone is their best song
2:39 Witch Hunt doesn't have a guitar solo
Yo! Check out The Permanents!!!!!
I think Famous Monster is better than American Psycho
What do you think about lamb of god and asking alexandria??
I don't listen to either of them
+Conshe Tumare agreed \m/
I prefer the Graves era. Catchier.
i like screams and skull
why do you cut after every 5 or so words?
That was old Killbot. Haha
That's not the Misfit's
The age Graves is the Best!! Danzig is good ,cause is not be so next to the extreme, and the Only age....Only angel is a shame.
Fiend Club
👏🤘
For me be Danzig, graves, hey Jerry only( the worst singer is obviously Jerry)
Do walk among us
The band should have been named something else
Vocal fry
Ummhh Nop!
😂
