- This is a production video of Tamiya Mazda MX-5 RF. Beginners can easily assemble this kit. The fit of the parts is also very good. This time, I was able to assemble it without scraping any parts, but the front window is easy to shift when installing, so be careful. Open top and closed top are selectable. I think you can attach magnets to the roof and rear window and make them removable. This time it is fixed with tape due to time constraints.

Painting
The body color this time is Mazda Premium Color Machine Gray Metallic. I couldn't see the actual car in this color, so I toned it with a color sample. High-brightness metallic paint is used for the actual car, but there is no high-brightness metallic paint for the model car. Gaia Color's Star Bright Metallic is a relatively high-brightness metallic paint, but it could not be used because of its large particles. Mainly Creos gun chrome is adjusted with Tamiya color chrome silver. The amount of Tamiya Chrome Silver is a few percent. The body color looks a little bluish in the video, but it is actually a little reddish. According to those who saw the actual car, the color of the actual car seems to be reddish.
The red line on the sheet is painted with a brush. Video recording was not possible. The color is toned with Creos red and maroon. After 2 brush strokes, erase the handwriting with #3000 paper, lighten the color a little, and apply the 3rd brush stroke.

Love the attention to detail and gaps. Gaps usually give away a model's scale from distance, but you managed to make it look like the real deal. Curious to see if and how you could improve smaller scales (like 1:64 Hot Wheels).

I own an actual RF so I bought this model when it came out, i made many airfix models in my time (not very well) but this was far beyond my skill and ability to do justice to it

Nice build. I have this kit as well. Spent a lot of time getting my body color as close to soul red crystal as I could. Looking great so far. My favorite red and favorite mazda color.
Thank you. Sole Red Crystal color is my favorite color. I understand that color is difficult to tone and therefore time consuming. Your work will be finished in a good color.
Yep. It took a 3 stage paint to actually get it. Ts primer, ts light gun metal, ts clear red and then actual clear! Took a few days to get done. c: now I just have to finish painting the rest of it and put it together.

Amazing. When I saw the thumbnail for the video I was impressed by what Tamiya had done, but I see that much of it was not their work but the attention to detail and craftsmanship when building the model.
One small detail and I almost feel cruel for mentioning it - I do think the pedals in the actual car are semi-polished metal and not black. However I can't say with certainty it is so for all versions.

I have a fully-loaded RF. The pedals are black on all models. You have to get covers or replacements if you want metal.

the only thing i would like in any Tamiya models, are doors and hoods opening, makes models more decent opening hood and see amazing engine details.
and i'm sure this guy havs the skills to make it, it's the only part missing, but its not a critic because he's an amazing modelism artist, it's more about preference.

I daily drive a soft top ND2 and this model is seriously insane... great work!
You should paint the calipers red like the sport package has. brembo in the front, stock in the rear, would suit the BBS wheels and recaros!

omg I need to pick this up myself. I bought a new 2019 Miata Rf club in the aforementioned, machine grey metallic. Id mod this kit to include at least red calipers to replicate the brembo option. This is fantastic looking, Well done!!

@@mokeipaint I have had that kit for quite a few years but have not had the time to put it together. I bought it shortly after I got my 2017 Gray RF. Now I have a Crystal Red Metallic RF.
Mazda premium color soul red metallic. I think this color is also a good color.

I’ve seen many scale-modelers on UA-cam, but you are by far the best, and an absolute master of your craft! Your techniques, as well as filming process, is beyond words.
I’ll be attempting to build a replica of my soft-top 2016, in the same color, but with tan leather interior beginning next week :-)
Question, do your window elements undergo any treatment or airbrushing of any sort? I noticed they have a shine as well as slightly greenish hue, they are incredibly realistic!
Thank you. I am happy that you are pleased with me. The clear parts of the window are painted with a mixture of 15-20% clear green, 5-10% clear blue, and 70-80% clear black. Paint the front side of the clear parts. The paint composition varies depending on the model. Finally, spray gloss clear and polish with compound. The finish is polished with Hasegawa ceramic compound and washed with a neutral detergent. If you wash it with a neutral detergent, the silicon compound will fall off and it will become a beautiful luster.

Great detail and precision! I'm a fan of the exterior paint work. Looking through your description, I did not see the make of the urethane clear. Can you tell me more about it? Ty
Thank you. I use urethane clear made in Japan. Urethane clear requires a hardening agent to be mixed, but the Kansai paint I use is 2∶1, and the rock paint I use is 3∶1. The amount of hardening agent mixed varies depending on the manufacturer. Urethane clear for plastic models is available at model stores and radio control shops.
@@mokeipaint I looked up Kansai paints. This is an automotive product, correct? What air brush do you use? What are the settings for it? Your finished product is amazing!
Thank you. The one I use is automotive urethane clear. You can get it at paint stores, but if you don't spray surfacer on the base, the plastic will melt. The airbrushes I use are Creos 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5mm, and I don't have any special settings.

@@mokeipaint 通常は１台を完成させるのに最低２週間かかり、1ヶ月以上かけるモデラーが大多数ですが、僕の場合はフィギュアスケートやジムナスティックスなどの練習に励んでいることもあって、そう気長にゆったり構えることは困難です・・・。
だから自分のようなせっかちな人には、はっきり言ってこういうのは向いていないと思います。
@@user-iu2nq1lz1u そうなんですね🙂大丈夫です。UA-camで半年以上かけている人がいますが、それはモデラーの中でもほんのごく一部で、自己満足の世界です。僕は通常撮影がなければ車種にもよりますが3週間∼1ヶ月ぐらいです😀プロモデラーでも1∼３週間ぐらいです。半年もかけていたら生産性が悪くて商売になりませんからね😀

At 1:14 you are mixing some sort of sculpting clay. What product is it? And why did you apply it to the bumper? Was it to fix some uneven surface on the car body?

Great work! A couple of questions: 1) why the yellow putty @1:30 - is the shape of the plastic not correct? 2) the antenna is too thick - have you considered making one from a thinner wire? 3) the cupholders are missing :)
Thank you. Putty is applied because there is distortion. As explained in the channel overview column, this channel has many beginner viewers, so I try to use kit parts as much as possible.
