Very helpful. These Ozito batteries have a balancing circuit to detect if any batteries drop below a certain voltage. This is a great way to fool it. :)
Great video thank you. I have the same problem with one on my batteries. Love your comment, “ beats the shit out of me why this is so complicated” 😂 cheers
I bought a new 18v, 2Ah Ozito battery (with charger) at Bunn's last week for $20...supposedly a Father's Day special . Normal price $69 . I read online that Einhell (German co.) bought Ozito (Ozzy-to) to get into Australian / Bunn's market? My old 2Ah battery lasted 5 years.
My brother owns that battery and chain saw sharpener. It’s still running after I convinced it to keep going :) That’s an interesting way to get into the Australian Market. Buy a Chinese company. Thanks for commenting!
"...about a year old, can't take it back under warranty..." Doesn't really matter 2 years after the batteries were pulled apart, but Ozito have one of best (if not the best) warranties on the market. All PXC tools have a 5 year warranty and all the batteries have a 3 year warranty.
@@DavoShed That's alright - thanks for the video. I started buying Ozito around 2019 and have never had a problem. The latest tool I bought was the 36v chainsaw (2 x 18v) for cutting back my jacaranda trees. It's brilliant - so light and easy to use and flys through 12 inch branches no problem. Watched this video because I have 10 Ozito batteries now (2 x 3Ah + 8 x 4Ah) and thought I better get familiar with them in case they ever go out of balance. I've watched a heap of these videos now for all sorts of brands and the one thing I've noticed is that the Ozito batteries appear to have much more complicated circuitry in them compared to the more expensive brands. My opinion after using them for almost 5 years now is that the Ozito balancing circuit works better than most others. You will always get some that become unbalanced, but that will always be the case no matter the brand because there will always be small variations in the cells themselves.
Funny because I have einhell batteries which look identical to this one you have and also have the exact same issue of just 2 batteries with slightly lesser voltage than the rest and the charger just straight up refuses to fix that
I can’t remember exactly. It’s just some automotive wire I had lying around. Just try short bursts at first, if the wires get hot they are too light. Just make sure you don’t over do things as those batteries can be dangerous. If you are at all concerned about what you are doing just replace the batteries.
@@DavoShed thank you for the reply, i have another question. Are the cells of the battery on the way out or is it the charger that is to blame ?. Is the battery still going or died eventually ?
@@o0FranklySpeaking0o Hi Timmy, That’s a good question. I think the problem is with the quality of the batteries. Or better put the quality control of the factory that made them. What happened at least in my case is one cell had discharged a lot further than the others. The circuitry in the battery “thinks” the cell is dead and cannot be charged anymore. The battery in my video had only been used a few times so it was definitely not worn out. It’s also still going at my brothers house. He uses it once a month or so to sharpen his chainsaws. I just tell him to charge it back up before he puts it back on the shelf. So if you can’t find and the weak cell in you battery and bring it back to roughly the same level of the others you may need to replace the battery. One thing I took home from this is to keep your receipt and hold them to the warranty!
It belongs to my brother and yes it’s still going. I’m sure he’d let me know if it failed ;) That or he’d ask me to sharpen his chain saw for him! I think at least part of the trick is to charge it up again after you use it.
The only problem is the plus and minus terminals on the battery are around the wrong way and the existing cables did not reach. Usually when you buy a battery you specify which way around you want the terminals but I already had this one. Obviously if the battery was much taller the terminals would have touched the metal parts that engage the mower deck. You don’t want that :)
I did check before making that comment about China. They may have offices in Au and NZ but their manufacturing is certainly in China. Actually a search not says it’s a German company with manufacturer in China

I just used 3 AA 1.5 VDC Batteries in series, to get the 4.5 Volts. One minute later it was charging fine.
That’s a very good idea. You should make a video :)
Well done mate,,,,,good video..very helpful
Glad you found it helpful. Just be careful with those batteries. More and more of them make the news these days. 🤠

There could be something wrong with the actual cell. Sorry I can’t be of more help
I have Same issue hence why I’m here on UA-cam searching for answers
@bawsecartel758
Did this video help you solve the problem?
Excellent Solution thanks I'm doing the same procedure 👍
Your welcome, thanks for commenting and I’m glad you got something out of it.
I hope you bring your battery back to life.
Very informative. Perhaps a different title that would match what people search for.
How to fix a broken battery
Just had this happen, what gauge of wire are you using with your alligator clips ?
I can’t remember exactly. It’s just some automotive wire I had lying around. Just try short bursts at first, if the wires get hot they are too light.

Hi Timmy,

All batteries on mine is 3.9v but in the charging point there is no voltage
Sorry I don’t know what that problem might be.
Helpful video thanks Davo
What is the problem with the big battery I have a similar one
The only problem is the plus and minus terminals on the battery are around the wrong way and the existing cables did not reach.
Usually when you buy a battery you specify which way around you want the terminals but I already had this one.
Obviously if the battery was much taller the terminals would have touched the metal parts that engage the mower deck.
You don’t want that :)
What’s that orang thing on the charger?
It’s just a piece of wood with red electrical tape on it to hold the wires against the terminals. My clips kept falling off. Hope this works for you!
Thanks mate
Glad this helped you out 🤠
Ozito is actually Australia and New Zealand
I did check before making that comment about China. They may have offices in Au and NZ but their manufacturing is certainly in China.
