I just finished this series 30 minutes ago, I gotta say it's 100% tied for my favorite fictional series of all time. Even if the visual novel is about 100 hours long, I can't remember a single minute where I was bored. The story just immerses you into Hinamizawa so well, and uses its long length to allow you to build up emotional attachments to each character, and also place them in interesting situations each arc and develop them much further than what you initially thought of them. Not only that, but it ties its themes about trust, miracles, working together, and the dangers of scapegoating into the story in such an unforgettable way, so that it really convinces you to believe in what the story is trying to tell you. A true masterpiece.
@Annie Granham I highly doubt Gou will have a happy enough ending for that considering where it falls in the timeline and the presence of a certain theatergoer in the opening. To borrow the words of a certain witch: This Story Will Not Have a Happy Ending. Or to borrow Rika's own words from the manga: You've gone and turned the page, here you had a happy ending and now its all ruined.
@Annie Granham Blind hope for people is what got battler fucked in the first couple goes around in Umineko. Sometimes you gotta realize shits gonna suck and deal with it. And this is likely the tale of a certain Witch of Miracles.
This is still my favorite anime, and this song perfectly captures what makes it such an incredible series. After so much heartache and bloodshed, they were finally able to break free. This series deserves to be ranked as one of the most beautiful stories of all time, right along with Clannad, The Count of Monte Cristo, Les Miserables, and others.

Try your best to forget the ending, and then read the visual novels, they are even better, but it doesn't work as well if you remember too much of the anime.
Daniel Lundberg I rather disagree. The Visual Novels are constructed in such a way that if you know what's coming, it actually hits harder because you start to see that it's focused with those twists in mind. For instance, the dynamic between Keiichi and Rena is addressed more in Onikakushi-hen than it is in the next 4 novels combined. I'm inclined to think this is because of what ends up happening, and knowing that it was going to happen made these sequences seem a lot more tragic.
For me, the main appeal of the story is that you have no idea what's coming, and as soon as you have an idea everything is turned up side down, and if you remember the ending matsuribayashi will be a lot less exciting, for obvious reasons.
Daniel Lundberg I suppose. It's an entirely different experience when you know what's coming versus when you don't, and neither of them is lesser than the other
I can agree with that, but I still hold the position that you should not know how matsuribayashi ends when you start it. I do intend to read the visual novels again, but for a 2nd read the details that you missed due to not knowing that story will be in focus, a prime example would that you'll know why Shion says "You don't have to remember that" when they're remembering other timelines.

While it's labeled as a horror anime I don't usually consider it that personally, I consider it more of a mystery anime, but that's just me. Some parts can be scary and some parts are quite violent but you've gotta stick it out. This anime is definitely worth sticking through. This has got to be the best song from any anime. Especially Horie Yui's part after they do their little "cheer" talk. 5:13 Then again, this could just be because my mind associates the song to the story instantly and that makes the emotions of the song all that more poignant. Love the instrumental of this too though.
This song is just aesome. It explains what Higruashi truly is and the great themes behind it. Too many people get caught up on the murder and fail to see the real beauty in the series. (P.S. I like what you did with the chibis :3)
This song...really makes me wanna hug my best friends. I mean, seriously. It shows that there isn't a person in the world that knows you better than the friends that help you through hardships. I think it's SO important to have friends that can help you through anything, and that you can trust. Great song. TRULY great song.
The feeling I feel when I listen to the entire cast signing at once... it's an odd combination of "heartwarming" and "awesome". Such a strong, pure feeling, though.
Very happy to see Satoshi there too, because in my opinion Satoshi didn't get enough attention in the main show. So, I think the main idea was for "important teens" to sing. Also, does anyone know a song in which voice actor of Takano, Oishi or Irie sing? Let me know, please ;)
I am currently sitting under the Night Dky in Shirakawa-go and have drunk 3 cups of Sake and listening to this... i think i will dedicate my Life now for the Goal to Live in here.
This song is beautiful in so many ways. I hope someday I'm also able to create bonds with some people nearly as strong as the bonds those characters developed throughout the series. And of course, I hope it doesn't include all the murder and gore parts, hahaha!
You know what I would really like? For someone to release the rest of the Kai visual novels on iTunes because it's just really easy to download and read on the go.
Mion disappearing is an editing error USODA, you know the Gou plot 10 years ahead and have been looping to tell us all along she was first to disappear from the bonds. This level of reasoning was possible for Furudo Erika. What do you think, everyone?
This is why I don't like Gou, Gou is anything, except Higurashi. Gou doesn't ruined Higurashi because it doesn't exist (at least for me). Sotsu will have a haaaaard work to fix that new anime.
Totally agreed for me it was like killing all the characters they created rika is not rika and satoko is not satoko . The rika and satoko i knew were completely different.

This is making me tear up this is so sweet all of them singing together and their lyrics that relate to their own Tragic back story's and to the whole story in a way .
rika was supposed to die, it was fate, rika told fate to fuck off as she rallied her friends, her most powerful allies, some might even say her knights in shining armor
This anime is like no other. It makes you think of our life, and the imprints we make on our earth. It also makes us think of justice, and how the truth is sometimes held only in the eye of the person or people there. It leaves you with a feeling of peace, fear, and love. I cried when I heard this song, because of the message and how all of these characters sing together as one. I strongly recommend this anime. It's.....Absolutely wonderful.
I think Satoko's mind's been taken over by the overwhelming horror Rika's been through (and she basically lived through all of them in "one sitting"). She'll struggle to take back control from the witch she's become, and if what we've seen so far, her friends will (still) help her, even if they somewhat learn what she's been through. I'll just feel sorry if that was it from Hanyuu, since she's my personal favorite.
All these years, and I still drop a few tears when I hear this. Especially when you know the things the characters went through and the lyrics of the song. 😭

I'M NOT CRYING
Then what are those droplets pouring from your eyes?
LOL those droplets
I'm not crying! You're crying!
really i am cuz i dont have friends and i wish i had friends
+Cheese Heater no you're crying
いやー、いつ聞いてもいい曲です
This song... the background... fill people who grew up in village/town with much more nostalgy than those who grew up in cities
Also this song was great everyone sang it nicely
This has got to be the best song from any anime. Especially Horie Yui's part after they do their little "cheer" talk. 5:13
Then again, this could just be because my mind associates the song to the story instantly and that makes the emotions of the song all that more poignant. Love the instrumental of this too though.
This song is just aesome. It explains what Higruashi truly is and the great themes behind it. Too many people get caught up on the murder and fail to see the real beauty in the series. (P.S. I like what you did with the chibis :3)
2020 .. im still love higurashi
facts
Always remember, the bonds you have with your love ones are always far more stronger than your problems❤
This song...really makes me wanna hug my best friends. I mean, seriously. It shows that there isn't a person in the world that knows you better than the friends that help you through hardships. I think it's SO important to have friends that can help you through anything, and that you can trust. Great song. TRULY great song.
Tv tropes sent me here, finished Higurashi some months ago, crying so much right now, geez
i cry literally every time
The feeling I feel when I listen to the entire cast signing at once... it's an odd combination of "heartwarming" and "awesome". Such a strong, pure feeling, though.
Gou stop it, you are hurting meeeeeeee
I love this song! It reminds me of the bonds that the characters made in Kai. I WANNA TAKE IT HOME!
Im not crying... Just some dust went into my eyes :'(
After so many years still my favorite anime Im so happy new people got interested on it now with the new season !
I love this song! In fact, I LOVE all the songs in the Dear You album! They all give me such chills......in a good way! 😁😭😉
Since I could meet my friends here in Hinamizawa. That is the miracle of this story.
Higurashi really is a beautiful anime...and it’s crazy...and that’s why I love it even more😭❤️
This is one of, if not the only video I can consistently come back to and get chills from. It's wonderful.
1:40
maybe,
About destiny and the courage to fight
↓
About the courage to fight against destiny
agree
Friendship goes through any kind of storm without losing its power
That is what Higurashi taught me :D
Yui Horie and Yukari Tamura have a beautiful voice !
I really want to assemble a group in my school to perform this. It would be so much fun
I've never watched this anime but this song still makes me cry.
Watch it, it’s worth it
read the vn and then watch the anime! it's a magical experience
Did You watch it already? :)
Very happy to see Satoshi there too, because in my opinion Satoshi didn't get enough attention in the main show.
So, I think the main idea was for "important teens" to sing.
Also, does anyone know a song in which voice actor of Takano, Oishi or Irie sing?
Let me know, please ;)
satoko sounds cuuuuuuuuuute 😆
I am currently sitting under the Night Dky in Shirakawa-go and have drunk 3 cups of Sake and listening to this... i think i will dedicate my Life now for the Goal to Live in here.
the visual novel is the most fulfilling higurashi experience. no other higu media will compare. ooogh...
i love satoko and she has a really good voice
Satoko's my girl. I love her too.
This song is beautiful in so many ways. I hope someday I'm also able to create bonds with some people nearly as strong as the bonds those characters developed throughout the series. And of course, I hope it doesn't include all the murder and gore parts, hahaha!
HOLY- I REGRET WATCHING THIS IN THE MORNING FULL OF PEOPLE, I'M STARTING TO TEAR UP AHHH THIS IS SO TOUCHING I CAN'T
Hello old friend.
I miss 2016
You know what I would really like? For someone to release the rest of the Kai visual novels on iTunes because it's just really easy to download and read on the go.
YES! They need do do that soon!
Mion disappearing is an editing error
USODA, you know the Gou plot 10 years ahead and have been looping to tell us all along she was first to disappear from the bonds.
This level of reasoning was possible for Furudo Erika. What do you think, everyone?
一生色褪せない名曲とアニメ
This is why I don't like Gou, Gou is anything, except Higurashi. Gou doesn't ruined Higurashi because it doesn't exist (at least for me). Sotsu will have a haaaaard work to fix that new anime.
Totally agreed for me it was like killing all the characters they created rika is not rika and satoko is not satoko . The rika and satoko i knew were completely different.
I got chills when they all started singing together. This is my favorite version of this song c':
Satoshi, please come back to your friends :'(
Rena's Voice Actor is beautiful Voice
Keiichi's Voice Actor is Perfect Voice
Mion & Shion voice actor two Satsuki yukino
Hayuun's Voice Actor is a Cute Voice
Satoshi's Voice Actor like a girl
Sakoto's Sound so Kawaii!!!
What Rika said: Nippa
Satoshi's voice actor IS a girl! Yuu Kobayashi
Dear You - Kizuna
Sung by Yukari Tamura (Rika), Yui Horie (Hanyu), Mai Nakahara (Rena), Sochiro Hoshi (Keiichi), Yu Kobayashi (Satoshi), Mika Kanai (Satoko) and Satsuki Yukino (Mion & Shion)
Hearing this makes me want to make a rythm game, something like "Higurashi no Dansu Koro Ni", and make this the grand finale song.
dude i LOVE rikas voice, shes one of my favorite anime characters of all time!!!!
hear this song at the end of higurashi sotsu, made me so happy
I think it was cool how the character(s) was highlighted or became colorful when singing
This is making me tear up this is so sweet all of them singing together and their lyrics that relate to their own Tragic back story's and to the whole story in a way .
😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭the memories ....I need to watch higurashi no naku koro ni/kai/rei/kira again....😭😭😭
Or just read it
rika was supposed to die, it was fate, rika told fate to fuck off as she rallied her friends, her most powerful allies, some might even say her knights in shining armor
It's the greatest anime of all times. Thank you
This anime is like no other.
Five years later, and this song still gets to me every time.
Higurashi will always hold a special place in my heart.
Once at year I rewatch higurashi, the most beautiful anime I' ve ever seen
*SOB* After watching the entire anime series T^T
Mostly everyone is singing very well.
Except Keichi va. But he is doing his best.
I would just think you like girls' singing more, but Satoshi is here too, interesting opnion - not that simple
Rewatching the series, and I had to come listen to this song after Kai episode 13...it's the perfect transition into the final arc
I love that cirno picture xD
I love this anime, so much
I tear up 😭😭 for some reason
These are manly tears 😢
It's so.... BEAUTIFUL !!! I LOVE IT !!
I'm really hoping for a happy ending in higurashi gou but that seems like a dream.
We got it
All these years, and I still drop a few tears when I hear this. Especially when you know the things the characters went through and the lyrics of the song. 😭
okay, I have just completed my ritual "dear you" marathon
I still love this song and this anime after all these years.
I'm so happy you enjoy it so much X3 Thank you and your welcome.
been 10 years and still so good
I hope they play this at the end of the new series.
I hope Satoshi wakes up
